Great Bourbon and Beer selection. Good meeting place if just looking to have a drink with business associate or friends

Laid back, great wine list! Not much seating, but a very intimate atmosphere. No real food. But if you want to chill and drink wine, it’s perfect.

Tons of wine to choose from: a wine lovers dream! In 2 oz tastes, 8 oz glasses, and carafes etc, there’s lots of room for personalization to your tastes. Boyfriend drank regional craft beer and there was a food truck out front. Other than the food truck, the bar itself had«bar snacks»(goldfish and a sort of chex mix sort of thing) to help yourself to, and a cheese plate you could order. It was a crowded Friday night, and we lucked into seats, but they were hard to come by! Seems like a place with a lot of neighborhood regulars, but the service was very polished and professional, and favoritism with the regulars was not a problem. With definitely keep it in mind for a return visit!

Nice place. Nice atmosphere. Great selection of wine and bourbon. The beers on tap are lacking, hence the four stars and not five. Unfortunately, I am mostly a beer drinker and wanted to try this place because I saw they had Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose at one point and thought they would have more randomness like this. If you want a good selection of beer on tap, I cannot recommend, but if you are going for bourbon or wine, this is the place to be. Friendly staff. A bit pricey.

Do you want some cheese with that wine? Why yes, I do — sign me up. Before I get to the wine and all that jazz, I have to tell you about the cheese plate! There is a majestic cheese plate that has sharp cheddar, goat cheese, brie cheese, provolone cheese and probably 4 other cheeses. They were all pretty much to die for and you will be sure to have had your fill of dairy for the day. But, mmmmm — it is so worth it. Anyways, the cute little Commonwealth Tap could not be in a cuter area of Louisville! It’s cute, cute, cute!!! And cozy, though perhaps a little too cozy. I wish that this place was a little bigger, but what it lacked in seating it made up for in ambience. Also, I am willing to forgive any restaurant’s flaws if it is serving free gold fish to its customers. Yes, you got it — there are goldfish to dip into while you’re sipping on all that wine. I mean, seriously — could it get any more perfect than having goldfish, cheese and wine? I think not. The wine selection is formidable and there’s something there for everyone. If you like dry wine, they got it. If you like sweet wine, they got it. Whatever it is that younwant, they got it and they have different varieties of it. I think that some of their«sweet» wines err on the side of being dry but they are still very good. Also, if you want to sample a couple wines before ordering them then bartenders are extremely willing to assist you. They want you to have a good dining experience too! The wine is fairly priced and the bartenders weren’t stingy in giving you the amount you deserve. In addition to the wine, there were many whiskeys on display(some that more rarely offered at bars) and my fiancé ordered some, leaving him to be one happy, tipsy man. It’s a relaxing little bar and there’s nothing better than going there while it’s warm out.

I’m so happy to have found this place. I hesitate to tell the rest of you because it is small and getting a table is already problematic. However, if you go before the after-dinner crowd gets there, you should be fine. I really appreciate that they don’t blast loud music or TV so you can actually come with friends and have a conversation, unlike most bars in town. It is trendy and comfortable. On both my visits, I did the 2 oz wine tastings – a great way to try a variety of wines at a reasonable price. My companions sampled the craft beer selection and one tried a few different bourbons. I have found Commonwealth to do a great after-theater place or after-dinner stop on the way home. Even the bathrooms are interesting. The only problem I have encountered on both visits was that a server does not come around to ask if you need anything. They could sell a lot more product if they were a little more attentive. At least they aren’t pushy!

Dude… this place is the spot you want to come to. Super laid back, awesome service, & a fantastic selection of wine, bourbon & craft beers. They’re now open on Sundays at 1pm for football. Other than the free pretzels and peanuts, no food, but Taps usually has a food truck outside. Try this place out, you won’t be disappointed!

Close to home and always a great place to go and relax. Great selection of beer/wine/bourbon! We love that we can bring in food from other local Norton Commons establishments. Looking for me on a low key Friday night look here.

Commonwealth Tap is a beer drinkers’ bar, a bourbon drinkers’ bar and a wine drinkers’ bar. There is quite a selection of each at this Norton Commons watering hole that no matter your adult beverage of choice, you’re bound to find something here that you like. But I admit: I know beer much more than I know bourbon or wine. And on the night I visited, I particularly enjoyed an Ommegang Abbey Ale but was also impressed that they had Bell’s Oberon and Country Boy Shotgun Wedding.(They also offer Budweiser and Miller, so beer elitists, Commonwealth Tap is not.) But with 30 or more wines and 70+ bourbons available, I would hope that wine and bourbon enthusiasts would find something yummy to drink. And if you do not, you should perhaps go home to drink, with your snobbery to keep you company. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really. Commonwealth Tap is small, so seating could be a bit of a challenge on a busy night, but there are also sidewalk tables, which are positively delightful in the summertime, really taking advantage of the whole Norton Commons community feel. The live music on Thursday nights was nice, though a little loud at times. And you can also buy bottles of these heavenly libations to take home with you. If I lived in Norton Commons, I feel like I would be at this neighborhood spot a bit too much perhaps. And even though I don’t live in the East End, I think I’ll still make a trip to take in Commonwealth Tap on occasion.

There is a good wine, beer, and bourbon selection. They have a limited food offering, but the cheeses and meats are tasty. There is not much seating inside, but when it’s warm, there is outdoor seating available. They frequently hold wine, beer, and bourbon events. Most of the staff are very helpful and friendly.

I’m impressed with the variety of wines by the glass available at Commonwealth Tap, and also with the staff’s knowledge of those wines. Just a brief description of a wine you liked in the past or a flavor profile you’re looking for, and they’re ready with a perfect recommendation. They also have a decent bourbon selection and if you’re looking for assistance, they’ll help. If beer is more your style, they’ve got a very good rotating selection. Food items are pretty much limited to a cheese and charcuterie plate, but really this place is about great wine, bourbon, and beer. Retail bottles of wine available if you want to take something home.
