Bank Rhode Island

Unbelievable. I recently relocated to RI and opened a checking account with Bank Rhode Island. In my 20 years of banking experience I have NEVER seen a bank shut down access to your account for 3 Days to ‘update their systems. I mean I have seen one day and even then it is done overnight but 3 days? Mind you, you can still withdraw money from an ATM but you cannot log in to your account and no balance information is available for 3 days!
Aside from that, I am surprised that they do not have a smart phone application; every bank I have used in the last 5 years has had that convenience keeping with the times.
They are friendly but no free checks outside of the initial starters, no gift to open an account (silly but many banks do offer this) — go to moneycrashers dot com for recent promotions for starters and check back often.
Two stars for Bank RI b/​c they are nice & opening the account was fast and friendly.

Great branch. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. When there is a wait, they acknowledge you and let you know you’ll be served soon. Compare to some of the other branches I’ve used, this one is a gem.
