Just started an annual contract with Big Blue Bug for our vacation place and was very pleased from start to finish. My technician, Gregory, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and patiently explained exactly what chemicals he was applying inside and inside and the safety of the materials fr people and my very tiny dog. He explained how the inside and outside applications work together to keep us bug-free! Very happy so far!

You can argue that this isn’t a fair review because I’ve never been a customer of Big Blue Bug. However, I needed to share my experience when my neighbors received a tick and mosquito spray on their lawn. We didn’t realize they were getting a treatment until it was too late. The noxious fumes from the spray entered through our open windows and literally made us ill to the point that we had to evacuate and go to a relative’s house. The man spraying the lawn with a powerful sprayer was wearing a mask and my neighbors later told us that they were instructed to close their windows. Why should innocent neighbors be exposed to these toxic chemicals without warning? When I was pregnant my doctor told me to avoid pesticides and fertilizers, which can harm an unborn child and cause cancer. Come on Big Blue Bug. You are totally irresponsible.

I live in the Edgewood section of Cranston. When we first purchased our house, there was evidence of termites. The Big Blue Bug have a competitive quote to take care of the issue, and with their reputation, I didn’t want to go anywhere else! I am on a renewal policy now as there is a warranty for the original work. Javier and Wayne were the two service techs today. They were so nice, extremely knowledgeable and explained things in a very understandable manner. These guys are two more reasons I won’t go anywhere else!

We signed up for the annual plan and have been very happy! They even told me I can call anytime and they’ll come kill a spider if that’s what I need! We have them come quarterly to spray our yard and house. We have had no issues with ants(reason we started) or any other pest since they started. Will Manseau is our technician and he’s very friendly and thorough. They even call ahead to make sure the date and time work for you every time they come. We will definitely be continuing our plan. We’re very happy!

Mike M #88 was on time and thorough. He caught some problem areas and advised what I can do to correct them. On top of it he told me I can get a letter from company showing the property history treatments and minimal to no pest activity. This is useful because I’m selling my house in a few months. Big thanks to Mike.

We called BBB when we discovered that my disabled father had bed bugs, brought in by health aides. Since he lives alone and is wheelchair-bound we asked for special help in prepping for this, but the company declined. Also, the technician showed up on the wrong day after we had prepared the house over three days. The service is overpriced for what you get — a spray and some dust — and the warranty won’t help if you don’t do the independent work it takes to stay bed bug free. My recommendation is to spend a lot of time researching this problem, do some DIY such as buy a steamer(which seemed to solve our problem), talk to several companies, and choose one based on their reviews and customer service acumen.

My Experiences: Last year we started seeing tons of carpenter ants. Called Big Blue Bug. They came out quickly and sprayed the inside/outside and sprayed the nest. It was great. For the rest of the year we did not see any carpenter ants. This year we started to see carpenter ants. So we called them again, thinking about the great experience we had last year. So a young guy comes out and sprays the house. I think he does a great job so I write an email thanking them. A little while after I send the email I am looking on the ground and what do I see. A book for my then 10 month old right near the baseboard covered in the spray. Now if you know babies they like to chew on stuff. I threw the book out. The person who sprayed could have easily asked me to move the book. Instead the young guy chose to spray the chemical on the book that my 10 month old baby could have put in his mouth. Did our carpenter ant go away? No. So I called again. This time a middle aged man came out with a woman he was training. They sprayed the outside and inside again. I thought they did a great job. I have no complaints with them, but did the carpenter ants go away? No. The third guy that came out was also middle aged. He again sprayed the outside and when he sprayed inside he started to move furniture to spray behind it. I thought, that is a great idea and no one has done that yet! So after he moved one thing I went around and moved the rest. Then a day later I went around and started to move it all back and what happened? Well the piece of furniture he moved left a 4 inch gash in my hardwood floors. I think an obvious solution to this would be to tell the people when they call to schedule for a spray to move their furniture or they wont spray behind it and that to be safe the homeowner should move furniture so they can get behind and spray. That way they do not risk scratching the floor or damaging furniture and the walls behind get sprayed. I am not sure if the ants have gone away yet. We still see a fair number, but it has only been a week or so since they last came. My experience last year was spectacular but this year between the gash in my floor and the potential poisoning of my 10 month old has left me very upset. I will probably plan to do research this winter and then next year spray myself.

Ah, the joys of renting in an old multi-unit building. New England Pest Control has efficiently and successfully dealt with two different infestations in my building. Everyone I have dealt with has been very professional and helpful, and they are great at giving you advice on how(and where) to prevent new pests from getting in.

I’m not yet sure if our carpenter ant problem is solved, but I am impressed with the service we’ve received thus far. A carpenter and problem showed up at our house inspection before we purchased it last summer. The previous owner had Terminex come out to take care of it. This spring, the ants came back. We called Terminex to ask about a warranty, and they had no record of it. Also, when you call Terminex, you are calling a national number and have to go through a phone tree; who knows who you are talking to(the person could be in AZ for all we know). I liked from the start that when you call the Big Blue Bug you get a person. No automated phone tree… a person. Also, the receptionist found a record for termite treatment on our home from 1974. One, it was good to know there was a termite problem in the home’s past, and two, I was impressed they had the record and was able to share it with me. In addition, their prices(both the initial treatment and yearly warranty fees) beat out Terminex. An inspector came to check out the areas we have ants, explained a few options, and explained what would happen when they came to treat. He didn’t pressure us into ordering extra services, although he did explain other services. He left us information so we could discuss the options and call back later with our choice and to schedule service. The service man came out on time, and we had no problems.
