I love this place. Aside from it being ½ mile down the street from my house, it’s a cute and quiet spot for some delicious quick«Mexican» food. I usually order the California King Burrito; it’s wonderful and will either feed 1 person with a huge appetite, 2 people, or 1 person for two meals. They offer a nice, big selection of meats, beans, cheeses, salsas, etc., for whatever it is that you may order. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. Update: 11÷8÷11 — I thought Cac-Tuz was doing some rennovations, but they’re closed… for good! How terribly heartbreaking. I quite enjoyed the food here… it was yummy and cheap. RIP Cac-Tuz.

Wow. It seems that Cac-tuz has fallen. What a shame. I passed Cilantro’s a couple of days ago, and saw the place packed with people gobbling flavorless, featureless, utterly ordinary ersatz-Mexican food. Cac-tuz actually offered a bit of south-of-the-border sabór. Maybe that’s what sank them… New Englanders really don’t seem to care much for flavor. Sixteen years after moving here from SoCal, it’s still hard getting used to a place where bland rules. Now, where the hell am I gonna get a decent burrito?!? 8-/ RIP Cac-tuz… you guys were doing the right thing in an environment where the wrong thing seems to prevail time and again…

Amazing burritos! The burrito is huge(especially for the price), filled to the brim with delicious fillings — meat, rice, beans, pico de gallo, and more. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of mexican food. But, this is one of the best, if not the best, burrito I’ve ever had.

The burrito was pretty good. when I went in the place was dead — I guess they really do rely on the PC students for their business. The man working was friendly and asked if I wanted to wait for the potatoes to be down. I decided to say yes because if you’re going to review a place’s menu you have to try the stuff as they have decided it should taste. After about 5 minutes, I thought the potatoes were done so I walked up to the counter and I think the man took it as me being impatient so he made the burrito — found out as I was eating the burrito that the potatoes weren’t quite done — oops. What I really love about these burritos– that some of you might hate — is the amount of cilantro you can add to it. Options include cilantro rice, salsa with cilantro, and if that’s not enough, plain cilantro. yum, yum, yum. This wasn’t the best burrito I’ve had, but it was good and I like the addition of potatoes to it. Makes it that much more filling — I couldn’t even finish the whole thing.

Cac-Tuz allows you to personalize your burritos and tacos from start to finish. As you travel down the line, you can choose from all of the fresh meats, vegetables, rice and toppings that they’ve prepared for the day. For under $ 8, you can get a delicious burrito the size of your head! Aside from the food, they make exceptional fresh fruit smoothies that are extremely addicting. However, I really miss the red bull smoothies that they used to make. They were a really great alternative to an afternoon coffee. Another good ‘ol reliable right around the corner from the RIC campus.

I give this 5 stars because it is probably my favorite option for ordering food at Providence College. The Chinese is… well, college student worthy Chinese, and Golden Crust, although delicious, needs to be broken up from time to time. When rated against its competition, this place deserves some serious cred. As far as take out affordability at Providence College goes, this place is great! Granted, I love Mexican food more than anything, Cac-Tuz is a pretty authentic, delicious burrito bar. Last time I went inside(Spring 2010), it was bare and not the type of place you’d want to «eat-in». My stance is that burritos are a handheld food and don’t require a table and chair — a philosophy clearly adopted by the owners and operators of Cac-Tuz. Luckily, Cac-Tuz makes very clean, well stuffed burritos, allowing for eating on the run. The quesadillas are great as well. I’ve had awful experiences ordering quesadillas at Chipotle in the past(sort of like a secret menu kind of item). Since corporate Chipotle doesn’t teach their staff how to make quesadillas as a normal menu item, the recipe and proportions are kind of up to the creative discretion of the worker. I’ve had very mixed experiences and don’t recommend taking your changes with Chipotle. Luckily, Cac-Tuz puts quesadillas on their menu and they are awesome(with predictable regularity). I recommend the spicy chicken(Colorado?) for any of your food creations — totally delicious. I’ve also gotten the smoothies, although I can’t remember which ones at the moment. I definitely remember that it had avocado in it, and it was unreal. I was a huge fan of whatever came out of that blender. Conclusion Pros: great quality Mexican food, competitive pricing against the PC-area pizza and Chinese joints, delivery, welcoming staff, avocado smoothies, easy walk from PC, parking’s usually no problem within a block Cons: bare interior(that shouldn’t stop you from going here)

I have only been to Cac-Tuz a few times, but they were all good! I wasn’t sure how this place would do in this location. it seems to be a tough one, but it appears to be doing well. I think they deliver, plus, burritos are great hangover food and inexpensive eats for the local college crowd. I think they have a good variety of fillings and strong flavors. Sometimes its nice to not have to cook dinner, so when I get a Mexican(ish) craving. this is a great local spot to hit up!

Because burritos are the most crave-able things on the planet to me, Cac-Tuz was BEGGING me to sample its fare. Yesterday, I relented. It’s nice and clean inside, and I appreciated the way the counter dude put everything together piece by piece in front of me so I could add exactly what I wanted in the right amounts. Once it was complete, he changed the foil wrapped around my burrito because it was too drippy without me having to ask. That was nice. The burrito was edible, but not awesome. They seem to have trouble keeping what is supposed to be hot, hot and what should be cold, cold. Most notably, I was disappointed with the tortilla, the diplomat that holds all these delicious ingredients in check. It was gummy and cold. Sad. Many times, my G.I. system will tell me if I should go back to a place or not. Within thirty minutes of ingesting my burrito with spicy chicken, peppers, onions, black beans, corn, pico, sour cream, and guac, my stomach told me that maybe Cac-Tuz is not the place for me. Duly noted. Having now supplied you with TMI, I would encourage you to try it for yourself…

I’ve been to Cac-Tuz twice now. Both times I’ve had the California King Burrito with steak. So delicious! The ingredients are all very fresh tasting that the employees are patient when a customer(me) asks a millions questions. I like the concept or picking your ingredients as you go. The burritos are huge and very filling! I def recommend it!

This burrito joint is outstanding and such a hidden gem. Cac-Tuz is located near La Salle high school in the Elmhurst area and is tucked inbetween Dunkin Donuts and La Salle bakery. When you first walk in you know you have crossed over the border. The restaurant is small so the aroma from the rice, beans, chicken, and other Mexican ingredients fill the air. As I looked around I noticed 5 or 6 high top tables with no one sitting down and a glass counter for ordering. The inside is very plain with no pictures on the wall, no TV, and really nothing of interest. The kitchen is visible from the order station and all the stainless steel appliances are shiny and new, which is a good sign. The menu is small, consisting of burritos, quesadillas, and tacos along with fresh fruit smoothies. Each item is made to order with very fresh ingredients. I ordered the California Burrito King which is a flour tortilla stuffed to the brim with chicken, rice, beans, potatoes, salsa, corn, and sour cream. The burrito is about the size of a small football and costs only 6 bucks. Some of the options you have when ordering are white or green(cilantro) rice, chicken Colorado, Lemon chicken, seasoned ground beef, or steak. One interesting ingredient is the seasoned potatoes which are golden brown and smothered with Mexican spices and are better than most restaurants’ hash browns. They also make their own salsa which you can have added to your burrito or purchase a container to bring home. I added the Red Tomatillo to mine and it was HOT, just how I like it. The burrito was delicious and all the ingredients blended perfectly together. The homemade salsa was hot but not over powering and the chicken was very juicy and tender Overall I was very happy with my experience. The order was completed quickly and most of the ingredients were healthy. If you are ever in the mood for a burrito, make sure to stop by this place and give them a try!

Great LITTLE burrito place in Elmhurst /LaSalle Academy neighborhood. Choose from white rice, green rice(cilantro), peppers & onions, Black Beans, Pinto Beans, Potatoes, 5 styles of meats(seasoned chicken, beef and pork… all good), guac, sour cream, hot sauce & pico de gayo. Huge burrito…$ 5.50. Beats Taco Bell hands down. CLEAN… you can see the kitchen. Only tall tables to stand and eat… no seating and your not paying for it. Great fruit smoothies. Nice people. Support them. Good food… great portions, nice price.

I’m a big fan of burrito places, so I was pretty excited when Cac-Tuz opened. However, I was not quick to try them out because their opening was rather quiet and I could hardly tell when(or even if) they were open. Additionally, the interior is extremely bare and doesn’t have anything to draw in the customers. So I finally ventured in and picked up a menu. It has the same sort of feel such as Chipotle or Qdoba, except with less of a selection. Regardless, just about anyone could find something they like. The Burrito I got had Chicken Colorado(chicken that is a bit spicy), rice(green kind — I assume lime and cilantro?), black beans, pico de gallo, cheese, hot sauce(which was very yummy and the perfect spice), and guacamole. They give ridiculously big portions, making it a great deal at about 6 bucks for a burrito. I was pretty pleased with my meal — nothing mind blowing, though. They also have a bunch of smoothie selections. Most are made with fruit, yogurt, sherbet, or red bull. Didn’t get a chance to try one yet. For an independent shop, they seem to have some potential. I would suggest more vegetarian options, though. I think I’ll give this place another shot in a month or so to see how they are doing — it could be a great place to walk to in the summer. If you are in the area and craving a burrito, I’d say give it a try.
