This is a great French Bistro with good service, good wine options and good food. They are known for their wurst and hand made sausages. Last dinner I had, I got a special dish(Grilled trio) which had pork belly, quail and wurst. All three meats were very good… especially the pork belly. so nicely seasoned, so delicious. The menu is not extensive, but what they offer is top quality. The seafood dishes are very good, large portions, delicate taste, well done. Overall a good solid choice for a nice dinner away from downtown.

I lived in southwestern France for several years and have eaten fantastic duck in Sarlat and the likes, but I have never had duck as good as the duck served here. I live out if state and was here on a business trip but would make a trip back to Providence just to revisit this restaurant and the experience of having the finest duck that I’ve ever had in my life. The French onion soup was also delicious as was the cheese plate… This place is magnificent and the service staff are very thoughtful and kind to top it all off. Bravo to the management and/or owners. The only bad thing I can say is that you’ve ruined duck for me in any other restaurant now :)

Another outstanding meal at Chez Pascal. I had the jalapeño bread pudding appetizer with mushrooms. Oh my goodness this was a great appetizer. We also had the custard tasting dessert. Again out of the park. Love this place :-)

Once upon a time, there were 2 young adults who knew nothing about dining but somehow ended up at Chez Pascal. We’ve been coming to Chez Pascal for nearly 13 years. The first time we came here, we were a couple of 20 year olds with absolutely no experience in fine dining. One thing we knew for sure after dining here; The food was and continues to be amazing. Chez Pascal has broadened our horizons when it comes to food. Absolutely everything we have had there is always perfect. The food is rich in flavor and never disappoints. We revisited yesterday, after close to 2 years(because as much as we love Chez Pascal, we also love trying new restaurants). Yesterday was a special occasion. It was the last«date night» my fiancé and I would have before getting married. The waiter was amazed by our story and reminisced with us about the good olé days. They even made a drink for me they no longer serve, called«déjà vu», because there was a lot of that going on. The staff, including the owner congratulated us on our marriage. Besides having amazing food, Chez Pascal’s customer service has always been a cut above the rest. We hope to continue to celebrate milestones at this fabulous establishment.

.. We came here late night, I even called the restaurant to confirm with them that we would be coming between 8:30pm and 9:00pm. The restaurant closed at 9:00pm that night, and I hate being that late table, but we were hungry. so I always like to confirm that the kitchen knows we are coming in given circumstances(I work in kitchens, I know the drill). I did order 4 of the 5 specials they were offering that night, I am a sucker for the specials at any restaurant, I do enjoy seeing what the Chef has in mind for that evening. This was a nice treat for us from start to finish, service, atmosphere, and food. So with the 4 starts out of 5, I may need some explanation. and I really wanted to pass the word to the kitchen that night, but it was a busy night for them with many tables still there, an hour after closing time. The special Soup of the evening was a Garlic bisque. I do believe the server mentioned ‘Ramps’ among other items in the soup. as I mentioned, I am usually game for the specials of the evening. So with this review, I do hope the word gets back to the kitchen, and I do not want anyone to get in trouble. but. it did not taste like a garlic bisque, it tasted like a roux bisque. so overpowering to the point where you could hardly taste any of the ingredients. I do appreciate the attempt, and it did have the potential. but no one likes to eat roux. So my ‘lightly taken’ ‘online review’ critique is for the person who prepared the soup: Use a little less roux, cook that roux a little longer, and cook it out in the soup much longer to help balance that flavor. and please taste. also for who plated the soup. please taste it first. and for the Chef: You don’t have to take my word for it, you can taste it yourself. Still a great experience over all, I hope my light critique may avoid this occurrence with another customer who is not as easy going as myself. Thanks again.

All I can say is two words: charcuterie plate and the cheese plate. Every time I go there is always something else I want to get, or another entrée that I would like to try because they always look so good. However, if you don’t get the charcuterie and the cheese plate then you are forever missing out.

I tried a few new restaurants during Restaurant Week 2016 and Chez Pascal was my favorite. The food, the drinks, and the service were impeccable. I ordered the winter squash bisque, kohlrabi noodles, and chocolate fudge cake. I loved the squash bisque so much that I used the bread to soak up every bit of the soup that was sticking to the side of the bowl. It looked like a clean bowl by the time I was done. I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered the kohlrabi noodles and it surpassed my expectations. It was so tasty and comforting; perfect for a cold night. The chocolate fudge cake was great too — moist and fudgy with a delicious maple frosting and homemade caramel ice cream. I wish I could have finished it, but I was way too full. I can’t wait to go back here and try some other things on the menu — looking at you, cheese plate.

First night here. Everything I had was outstanding. Warm cabbage salad was decadent, melty cheese, walnuts, amazing. The duck was hands down the best duck I have ever had. Rare sliced breast with a perfectly crunchy skin in a very meaty leg. Served with some sweet potato and some other amazing flavor that I can’t recall. Table next to us raved about the pear upside down cake with blue cheese. Sounds wrong but they swear it’s amazing. Run, don’t walk to this restaurant!

I went here last night. I had the seafood stew it was delicious, the perfect amount of salt, muscles, little necks and squid. Really tasty. The atmosphere is almost like you are at a small restaurant in Paris. Our server was very knowledgeable. The person I was with got the duck and it is THEE best duck I have ever had. Crispy skin, not fatty tasting. Loved it! We had the crumb brule for dessert! Delicious!

Okay… where to begin… We went to RI for a weekend with a group of close friends and of course spent a significant amount of time researching restaurant options for nearly every meal we’d be eating on our trip. This restaurant came very highly recommended by Food & Wine and all the Unilocalers that have written reviews so it was easy to decide to make reservations here for our first meal of the trip. The restaurant itself is a little bit on the outskirts of downtown Providence in a quiet part of town. We went on a Friday night around 8:30pm and the restaurant was mostly full. Our server was very friendly and helpful in making menu decisions. We each got a drink to begin– the boys got a cocktail(can’t recall the name) but they thought it was too sweet. The girls shared a bottle of delicious Vinho Verde. Each of us ordered an appetizer and entrée and while we all enjoyed our starters(French onion soup, celery bisque, beet salad, and clams), we had less exciting things to say about the entrees. I have to say we were a bit disappointed– our dishes were good but not excellent as we had been expecting them to be(when F&W says this is where the chefs go to eat, what else would you expect?). Between the 4 of us we tried the duck, a pork special and the hake. The best dish was probably the hake. We had heard the duck was phenomenal but I have to say it was just good. It came prepared in two different ways, the breast preparation was a bit bland for my taste. Lastly, we went to RI to celebrate the bae’s birthday for the weekend and when a friend of ours asked if they could bring something out for his birthday, they brought us a small bowl of whipped cream! Whipped cream?! I understand that we didn’t order a dessert(because we had all eaten and drank A LOT already without sparing expense) but for such a nice restaurant I was surprised we literally got a «scoop» of whipped cream with a candle in it. A scoop of ice cream at least would’ve been better! Regardless, the service was great and the ambiance unique(lots of local featured artwork on the walls, dim lighting, etc.) but the food was not as amazing as we were all expecting.

I love this place!!! Pigs pigs pigs everywhere. Such a cute and intimate atmosphere! I’m so happy my good friend Cyrielle brought us to this gem on our short visit. Even though the lunch menu is much smaller than the dinner, we loved every single item on the menu! Chez Pascal is joint with the wurst kitchen(lol!!!). We tried the frankfurter Friday(4 sausage sampler) and the bacon wrapped meat loaf. Ohhhhh so good. The drinks selection was amazing as well! The ginger ale was locally made and tasted delicious! I also really enjoyed the pear cider! Yummy. The dessert is fantastic!!! Bacon bits on brownie with caramel ice cream. Yes I would prefer more bacon and less brownie but that’s just porky me. The bacon were more like crumble cookie bits. Ohhhh so delicious!!! Not too oily or overwhelming at all! Can’t wait to visit again so I can try some delicious dinner at this wonderful place

I have been meaning to post a review for Chez Pascal since my visit in April. My husband took me for my birthday and I can’t wait to return. For some reason, I was expecting the place to be fancier, but I was pleasantly surprised by the warm, welcoming, and laid back atmosphere. I’m pretty sure one of the waiters was wearing jeans. Our waitress was excellent… I wish I could remember her name. I started with French onion soup and my husband ordered a warm salad special. Both were fantastic. For my entrée, I ordered the duck, recommended by our waitress. My husband ordered the vegetarian dish. My meal was beyond delicious – I didn’t want it to end. I had never eaten duck before, but I can’t imagine it being anywhere near as delicious anywhere else. Incredible.

This is for the Wurst kitchen. Love the Dogs! Great taste and I love the toasted bun. Easy ordering at the window to go. The condiments are stacked up nicely outside to customize your order. The reason for the 4 stars is the pricing at dinner time. I think a dog goes from $ 4 to nearly $ 10 when they stick it on a plate… so definitely go for lunch. The specialty sausages are very good… even if the size of the order is a little lacking… you will definitely need more than 1. Will be back several times over the summer!

I’m always hoping to be more impressed than I am. The food is okay, but not spectacular. I appreciate the intention, as it seems like they try to bring a true, authentic feel to the menu, but it’s hard to compare to the French. They are food goddesses. From my last visit: The escargot was more bread than snails. The charcuterie was a little overkill on weird ingredients. Everything else tasted good, but it just wasn’t WOW. I will say we had the greatest waiter we could have possibly hoped for(I’m sorry I don’t remember his name!) He was incredibly helpful and kind and had a true passion for his work. He deserves a super hard high five(and really nice tips). He was a fan of the banana ice cream with one of the desserts, and after he described how it was made, I had a better appreciation for it. Overall, it’s a nice break from the norm, but it doesn’t quite compare to other French restaurants I’ve been to.* *this is not a RI specific statement

I contacted Chez Pascal a few days prior to coming in for my anniversary. I have a very long list of food allergies and they were very kind and accommodating. They made me a couple of dishes that were not on the menu, including the BEST duck confeit I have ever had and a huge dish of braised pork shoulder. I left very satisfied and almost giddy from the delicious local, high quality food. Chez Pascal is my choice for best Farm to Table in Rhode Island.

I think this is one of the GREAT restaurants in all of the northeast. Completely impressed. Food choices? Excellent. Wine list? Even better. So well thought out. Unless you are into labels and national brands AND you lack imagination and adventure to try new things. Jura on the list? Won’t find that many places in the USA. The appetizer(squid) and dinner(Cassolette) were as fine as any I’ve had. Anywhere. And I do travel extensively all over the US and Western Europe. The Pork Belly in the Cassolette hit all the high notes: flavor tender yet crispy on the surface. As good as it gets. If you’re a foodie? If you have a sense of adventure to try new things? Hand crafted food and drink? This is a «must visit,»

From the owners to the bus staff, this place has top notch, friendly service. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, without being cramped. Each room hosts original art by local artists. The sound level is just right. The food is not inexpensive but is worth every penny. The apps are delicious and varied. Tonight, I had the grilled squid special. The flavors were balanced, the portion size was sufficient to share with 1 or 2 others, but I ate the entire thing myself. My entrée was the pork cassoulet, with house made sausage among other things. This was a heavy dish, perfect for the winter months. It paired well with a red wine.

We had not gone back to Chez Pascal for over a year but felt the need to return for their pâté! As always, nice staff, cozy atmosphere and great menu! My pâté and charcuterie plate was quite good but I did find the chorizo too smoky for my taste. My husband had the Restaurant Week 3 course dinner. Everything was very good– especially the salad. Glad we went back!

I was lucky to visit Chez Pascal frequently prior to my move to Providence. As a frequent business traveler, I certainly took advantage of the wonderful opportunity to make my boss approve expense reports filled with unique non-chain restaurants, including Chez Pascal which has very good French-influenced food w/a New Englandy flair, i.e. farm fresh produce catering to local tastes with an eye and respect for French tradition. One particular dinner sticks out in my mind, which was a special event catering to tomato. Heirloom tomatoes were served every which way – raw, stewed, roasted, souped(is that even a verb?) etc. etc. and it was really wonderful. If I had to somewhat fancifully describe that dinner, just imagine a Tomato preparing for a royal masquerade ball, trying on all kinds of fancy garments and figuring out how to make its Tomato-ness as hotness as possible, with a goal of dressing to impress. It was REALLY good. Now that I’ve settled in to Providence, I treat this place as more of a special treat, not because Chez Pascal is super expensive(I think the pricing is fair for what you get), but because I’ve found the service can be rather Frenchy in the«you have 3 hours to spare for dinner» type of way which is a real luxury to a busy worker bee. Otherwise, the service has always been nice and the servers really do add to the relaxed south of France vibe you get here. All in all, would I come again? Yes. Would I recommend this place to someone wanting Frenchy food? Yes(especially with an expense account). I’d only note to snobby-leaning eaters that enjoy referring themselves as «foodie»(just admit it, you know who you are!!), if you’re expecting Michel Bras or Joel Robuchon, you’ll be disappointed. This place is more in line with the wonderful but anonymous neighborhood bistros you’ll find all over France, especially the south of France, where the service is Frenchy, the environs warm and cozy, and your food undoubtedly and unpretentiously tasty.

The Wurst by day, Chez chique by night. Chez Pascal serves some of the most beauitful food in the Providence area. Influenced by what you may already suspect… the French, the food is a delicate balance between flavor and beauty. Each dish is prepared delicately but with a force of flavor. Don’t be fooled! They have a sign for both the Wurst Kitchen and Chez Pascal and they are one in the same restaurant. They only do Wurst during the day and then they do both at night(minus the hot dog buns). I went with the BF and each dish was split up for us at no extra charge and without us even asking making sharing a very doable. They have a great list of beers and wines and a menu that would make your eyes horizontally nystagmatic. We had a seafood broth with a couple added clam bellies, escargot followed by duck and dessert. Each decorate impeccably, seasoned perfectly and together tasting amazingly. Prices are on the expensive side but worth the experience! Street parking and it does fill up quickly given that the restaurant is on the smaller side. Everyone is so polite here. Highly recommend this place!

I dined at Chez Pascal today for their brunch that happens only once a year. I thought that perhaps I should refrain from writing a review because it would only make readers despair over the fact that they would have to wait another year to experience brunch at this lovely establishment. But I decided to review anyway. This was my first time at Chez Pascal despite living in Providence for quite some time now(don’t ask me why). The place is very cozy and inviting. The ambiance is what my boyfriend describes as «French Farmhouse». The service was excellent. For our meals, we got the 1) local black beans with queso fresco, avocado, carpentaria masa cake &2 sunny side egg 2) warm flamiche with pastrami, mortadella, prosciutto & swiss cheese with side of greens & dijonnaise 3) baked spaetzle with frankfurters, aged gruyère cheese, kale & herb bread crumbs and 4) spicy duck ragout with crispy potato cake, 2 fried eggs & cranberry grainy mustard. My favorite dish was the flamiche. It was crispy on the outside with a delectable filling of housemade meats and cheese. All the dishes were well conceived and executed. My only complaint is that the crispy potato cake was not so crispy after being plated smothered in the duck ragout. Overall, it was a lovely experience. It’s a shame they don’t offer brunch more!
