I have dabbled into yoga quite a bit, always just a little at a time. Linda’s is the first class I ever actually committed to attending regularly. Her extensive knowledge and experience, patience, gentle manner, and gift for explaining things in way that really make sense, make her a phenomenal teacher. She tries hard to give equal amounts of attention to all students, so no one feels singled out as being helped(/corrected) the most often. Her advice for improvement is just that — helpful tips and encouragement for doing it right, never telling you you’re doing it wrong. I would highly recommend Iyengar Yoga Source and Linda Di Carlo to anyone who wants to deeply understand their yoga practice, who wants to develop and learn at a comfortable but challenging pace, and who wants to always want to keep coming back to yoga classes.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Yoga Studio in the old mill building next to Ogie’s. After climbing two flights of stairs and following the blue arrows, I found it. It’s a very cozy, inviting space and the students and the teacher are lovely and welcoming. I’ve never done Iyengar Yoga before — my experience is mostly Vinyasa — but I really liked it. They let you try a class for free before you commit, so i recommend checking it out for yourself!

I practiced for years before discovering Iyengar, an incredible style of yoga. Iyengar focuses on foundational poses and concepts, then builds on them, moving in a logical order — makes Iyengar perfect for beginners and also good move for experienced practitioners, who like me, may discover gaps and errors in the way they were previously taught. Iyengar teachers have a required, extensive training process(not always true of other styles, scary). Though this is my home studio, I have visited studios around the U.S. and overseas and found the teachers to be consistently knowledgeable and experienced. The teachers are incredible at identifying students’ challenges, helping students find the right level of practice, and accommodating each student so that they can participate at their own pace and ability. We are very fortunate to have this studio here in Rhode Island. Linda is a very experienced and talented teacher, a wonderful person, and is known for making a difference in her students’ lives.(Go read Linda’s bio and be wowed.) Kathleen is also amazing, enthusiastic, was my first teacher at the studio, and helped me recover from an injury through careful progression in her class. If you’re looking for a practice that evolves and improves your daily life, this is the place!
