If you like to laugh, this is your place! Everyone is super friendly. The performers are really passionate about comedy. On any given performance night, you can experience the best examples of short form improv, ling form improv, musical improv, sketch and more! Wether you are looking for a group to join or you just live comedy, PIG is the place for you!

As funny as it gets! I particularly liked that the seating was quite intimate, so I almost felt like I was in a friend’s living room and we were laughing like crazy. Highly recommend!

I love it here! It’s so much fun to come to their $ 5 shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! It’s a great community and I started taking classes. I highly suggest this as a fun date night and way to explore Providence’s arts. Who doesn’t love to laugh?

Disclaimer: I’m a professional improviser that is based in Providence. I have very occasionally performed at PIG, and very occasionally attended as an audience member. So, the bad review below does have a point. I’ve seen some cringe-worthy stuff on the PIG stage. I’ve also seen some really awesome stuff as an audience member. PIG is a community of improvisers. There are people at all skill levels there. They exist to give performers a place to work that just didn’t really exist before in our area. You can get everything from a group of beginners taking their first baby steps on the stage to a super group of pros doing a side project. Frankly, either of them can fail miserably on any given night. It happens. If you’d like a slick polished improv show in a professional theatre, look elsewhere. There are places in the area where you can get that. If, however, you’d like to watch a group of artists journey toward awesome, sometimes failing and falling on their faces and sometimes reaching the heights of hilarity– go. To me, the journey is much more interesting. Watching a new improviser suddenly pull out something golden and discover that for the first time, or seeing a seasoned pro deal with failure is always more human and engaging somehow. As the saying goes, «Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.» Take a risk with PIG, drop the $ 5 and spin the wheel. You’ll get something interesting either way.

I have been going to PIG shows since the kickoff, just over a year ago. I don’t go to every one but have been to enough to get an overview. I have to say that it is a wonderful experience. The nature of improv means that some shows will be better than others, maybe that is why someone had a bad experience but that certainly has not been the case for me. My favorite is the musical improv with some impressive talent. I have also enjoyed other elements such as the organic improv. It is fun to see the students from various classes and as PIG has grown, so have the audiences, creating amazing energy. I would spend 5 bucks to get a couple of cups of coffee so the price is a real bargain. I am looking forward to the Redrum Reunion Halloween Show coming up!
