Stopped in looking for Thomas Tew rum after tasting it at the brewery/distillery in Newport. The bottle retails between $ 32-$ 38 but happily was on the low price point at Standard Liquors($ 32). Sketchy exterior and neighborhood, but nice interior with very helpful and friendly staff. Large craft beer selection(including Trinity IPA, another RI specific product), and very decent liquor offerings. Wine as well, but didn’t look too closely at those.

This is my favorite liquor store! I discovered it by accident years ago, and keep going back. Jimmy and his family are so friendly and professional. He regularly makes wine recommendations for me, and I’ve never been disappointed.

This a great family operated liquor store with easy access to 95. The customer service is always top notch. You will always find the owners there to help you select that perfect bottle of wine. If they don’t have what you need, they will try to get it for you. Exceptional attention to detail. Don’t forget to check out the back wall for their great selection of microbrews!

If you’re reluctant to travel too far up Eddy Street, you’re missing out. Standard is one of those small stores with big customer service that I’m always harping about. The kind of store where people call greetings when you enter, stock boys carry your booze up to the front, and one of the cashiers carries it out to your car for you. They manage to pack a lot into their limited floor space, but I have found that some brands that I think of as givens in any liquor store don’t always show up on their shelves. While the in-city markup is still in effect, this just might be the cheapest of the liquor stores in Providence.
