Willy’s Local Foods

This one’s going to be quick… just like the service at Willy’s!
Food: Delicious! 2 hearty sandwiches and large iced coffees for a very reasonable $ 21. Freshest bread I’ve ever had, packed with simple, fresh, LOCAL ingredients. I had the Willie’s Turkey, and my friend had the Fed Hill. No complaints… both disappeared very quickly.
Ambience: a really cute and slightly retro deli set up. Natural and black painted wood, chalkboard inspired accent, a cute little mini storefront featuring local favorites. Communal seating is available at the big table that runs the length of the shop, or you can grab a seat in front of one of the big windows and enjoy all of that natural sunlight streaming through.
Service: I can’t say enough good things about it! It was warm, efficient, and really, just a pleasure. My friend and I felt welcomed, and lingered long after we’d finished our meals. I’ll definitely be back!

They’ve recently reorganized the layout at Willy’s, doing more with less and working with the property owner to use a smaller footprint. As a result, I do not believe they have a restroom any longer, and the areas for seating and ordering compete for space.
That said, still a decent spot to stop in and get a perfectly acceptable $ 8 sandwich.

Interesting concept with it being a sandwich place and grocer. Sadly the groceries were lacking, and the place is looking a bit rundown. I had a smoothie that was ok, but not worth the price. The counter guy was friendly enough, but he was alone trying to take orders and fulfill them so he seemed stretched thin.

Have been visiting Willy’s almost since its inception and am finally writing a review. This is a great local place worth supporting.
I popped in today for a very reasonably priced Willy’s Turkey Sandwich and it was super. Incredibly fresh bread, nice portion size and very friendly counter staff made for a great visit.
I applaud the new, very visible menu on the exterior window… all those posters that cluttered the window before were ugly and unnecessary. Keep up the good work!

I work on the east side twice a week and now almost every afternoon I am on that side of the city I get a sandwich and soda from here. My go-​tos are the caprese and the turkey avocado. The bread is delicious, especially the seeded baguette that use for the turkey sandwich. This is the first place where I have had tomatoes on a sandwich that actually looked appetizing enough to eat… so I had my first one there. I know that sounds terrible, but I’ve just never been a fan of tomatoes. I don’t know why theirs are different, but they’re so good. I haven’t been shopping in the little grocery section in quite a long time, but when I stopped in to pick up a few things a couple times it’s always bright, clean, and people are friendly and helpful. Food is organic and reasonably priced, I always end up leaving with more than I anticipated because it looks and smells good.
Willy’s uses a bike delivery service now which is AWESOME and convenient. This is how I’ve been able to up my Willy’s lunches from a sad twice a month or so to a full twice weekly because now my time constraints are not an issue. Delivery is fast (like 45 minutes faster than foodler estimates, and apparently faster than the app can track the order because it doesn’t even register where the order is) and the delivery guys are super nice. My only complaint with Willy’s is that normally when I go out for lunch since I’m going to be working long hours, I pick up a snack like fruit or pretzels or cookies or something. Normally when I’m at Willy’s they have some goodies at the counter that I pick up with my order to save for later, but for some reason they aren’t on the online menu to order with delivery orders. Only two choices for drinks are Pellegrino or Yacht club, and I will always choose Yacht club but even then the only two choices for that are cola and root beer, even though I know they make several delicious flavors. I’m pretty sure they make hot/​iced coffees and other drinks there but maybe they can’t deliver because of spillage issues.
The food is 100% excellent though, and I’m such a huge fan of the bike delivery service. Love!

Nice place, easy to stop in for lunch, my favorite is the ½ sandwich, ½ soup. Nice, friendly staff. Great location.

Bright clean store with non offensive acoustic top 40 softly playing. Organic iced and hot coffee, as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Everything’s made to order, so expect to wait a little bit. Staff is a little hippy dippy trippy, but helpful and polite. Browse the local, organic, no crap food and snack options they have stocked while you wait. Kind of a mini grocery store, w/​o all the GMO garbage to sift through. You do pay for the convenience tho, items are similarly priced as Whole Foods. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy your food, as well as a bar next to the window looking out on Wickenden St. There is no dedicated parking lot, hope you get lucky and find a street spot off Hope/​Wickenden. I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here on a regular basis (too expensive), but if I’m already in the area, it’s a good spot to grab an organic coffee and a bite and/​or some no crap snacks.

I love the cute atmosphere glorifying all natural goodness and the relaxing music… but unfortunately I will not be back due to the way my food was handled. I noticed that the employee was not wearing gloves when preparing breakfast sandwiches for my boyfriend and I so we just hoped she washed her hands directly before making our orders. As the eggs were cooking, I paid in cash… watched her handle the money then immediately peel off pieces of cheese to place on sandwiches without washing her hands or putting on gloves. I really hate writing bad reviews but I am super OCD about cleanliness and was shocked when she nonchalantly handled the money then food knowing that I was watching.

Nice place… good fruits and vegetables, they also have soups, coffee, and Bagels… the girl behind the counter said they will have Portuguese Sweet Rolls soon… the place is very clean… they have the boston globe and seating for about 6 people…
I wish Willy sold Churico Calzones…

Hooray for Willy’s Local Foods! My boyfriend and I were famished and stopped in here randomly for a quick bite. I was surprised by the great selection of local and orgranic foods and products!
They have a very small grocery carrying a good range of organic crackers, chips, and other food items, as well as a small café serving fresh sammies, soups, bagels, etc.
We decided on a spinach and cheese pastry. While waiting for the very friendly guy behind the counter to warm it up, I took a quick browse around the store and noticed local hand made soaps, lotions, and body products too! I wanted to buy one of the rosemary-​mint bars but was short on funds so maybe another time. The iced green tea was so refreshing and delicious!
The whole store is bright, clean, and tidy! Definitely a nice addition to Wickenden.

Great iced tea! Very convenient for folks in Fox Point with a good mix of fresh, frozen, and boxed foods and local wherever possible. They also do bagels, sandwiches, and soups, many of which are from scratch.

Good stuff. Fresh food; salads and such. Fresh bread for great sandwiches. Homemade soups and by the pound nuts on the go. Market side as well for the quick stop before home. few local ingredients, but at this point (new shop) mostly ingredients you would get at Whole Foods/​East Side Market Place/​Dave’s — but all organic and good. Friendly people and a café atmosphere

Great store. The inventory keeps getting better as time moves on which you totally expect from a new store. Very friendly also.

I love Willy’s! All the food is so delicious and fresh. It’s the perfect around the corner store.

From breakfast to dinner, Willy’s has you covered — and it’s all healthful, organic, non-​processed foods. Hooray!
I love Willy’s. The space is still filling up, but they’ve done a beautiful job of opening up this bright, cheery space on an ace corner on Wickenden. I love that their to go foods are sold in a glass jar, and that you can return the jar for a refund. I love that they sell my personal favorite, the locally-​made Danieli meats, at very reasonable prices. I love that whatever time of day it is, they have your meals covered, be it a bagel or a bowl of soup, your belly will be full.
They also have a great little selection of planet-​friendly cleansers and grooming products, along with recyclable (and recycled) cutlery and plates. How thoughtful. Definitely a great little shop — I can’t wait to return!

What a great addition to the area. Solid mix of produce and dry goods. Only picked up a few things on this trip but I’m sure I will be here often.

Willy’s is a great addition to the Fox Point area of Providence. Local foods and friendly people. The soup is perfect for a quick bit to eat. They also carry some essential household items that I always seem to run out of.

Exactly what Fox Point needed.
Opened in September with mainly organic groceries and coffee/​pastries but has since expanded to include soups and sandwiches and a much larger variety of groceries.
Selection is growing everyday and Willy and his staff are incredibly kind — buy local!
