ZipZappy SlapHappy Hour @ The Salon: PVD’s First Elite Event!

Had a great time! I love The Salon. The ERB was so fun and the DJ was amazing!

Just went to an event here, I have to say it was really fun, and the space is really great. I like the layout-​plenty o’ room for shakin’ it-​and the picnic tables are pretty novel. The mirrors were a little weird for me, sort of a constant reminder that I was one of the older people there. maybe angle em’ a little, or light them in rosy hues? Anyways, the drinks were creative, the bartenders and owner were super sweet and laid back people. The food offerings were pretty good too, I want to go back and try pb & j’s with my beer. CLEAN bathrooms and nice coat area. Only small gripe is the pinball machine needs some tuning up, the trigger thing on it has a weak spring.

It’s a Unilocal LIFE! Great Googly Moogly!!! I had an awesome time!!! Free Unilocal stuff, free appetizers, free drinks, free entertainment and awesome conversations with your fellow Unilocalers! Free free free! What more can you ask for. World’s Fare Chef did a kick ass job… man I love the Indian basiled meatballs! Yum! Extraordinary Rendition Band rocked the house! keep in mind that it’s only Tuesday!
As a true out of towner, I had a hard time finding this place. The number system on Eddy Street isn’t in sync with each other. I walked past 89, 60, 63 and finally 57– I did walk back in forth for a while. Parking was also a pain, but I found a spot three blocks away. The décor was something totally new, I can’t accurately describe it… but I’ll try! They have a 10 foot newish-​rusticish bar… nicely complimenting six full size, new picnic tables, you can smell the wood. One picnic table was converted into a ping-​pong table. On a side note, I notice that rhode island is big on ping-​pong — what?! I’m just saying… They had a super pink, modern and edgy design on the back wall. Toss my mind to confusion; they had warm yet tall wooden pillars by the front door. Extremely high ceilings and a lot of space to bust out your moves– I was trying to holding back.
During this Unilocal event, they had a DJ on the ones and twos… but the setup seems temporally, so i’m not sure if they provide a live dj every night. (I could be wrong)
This could be considered as a restaurant… since they do offer peanut butter and jelly… I was a bit enticed to try one… but I am on a stick JACK AND COKE DIET… :)

Great Event, Special thanks to the bartenders and owner of the Salon for welcoming us into their spot. Wished I had stayed longer and played out some ping pong, but there’s always next time.
Thanks to Briana for pulling everything together… to Chef for whipping up some fantastic eats (poblano quesadillas were bomb), and to ERB for their suprize entrance. Great times… can’t wait for Feb

I must say this party rocked! Nothing dull about the venue, the tasty treats and drinks, nor the music!
I had never been to the Salon before OR had I heard the Extraordinary Rendition Band play — and both were fantastic.
Delighted that one gets rewarded for speaking one’s mind on Unilocal!I plan on keeping up w/​my Unilocaling and look forward to the next Elite Event.
Could it be even better?!? ;)

Enjoyed the event on Tuesday night.
It was sensory overload. Great tunes, great people, excellent food… but the all-​star for the night were the Great Drinks!
The Salon is a convertible space. I could see a dance party, a slam poet, and a band all utilizing the move-​able picnic tables to create a great event.
Briana did a Hell of a job as hostess with the most-​est. ERB was awesome, and can’t wait to book them for a future event or two. Music from the DJ was fresh, and the food was on point for that type of event.
Folks who were «in the house» were all friendly, Elite folks… weren’t elitist.
Dig the venue, and dig the thought of future events at other locations… though I will definitely return to The Salon.

I’m so glad I got to come to this event! The people were friendly, the music was good, ERB was an unexpected blast, and the Salon is a cool place! They got me wanting to go back!

Nice place Downcity within a snowball’s throw of Haven Brothers. I went to a Unilocal event there last night. Nice location and space, and the drink menu looks worth exploring on another visit. Salon is a welcome addition to the Downcity area, as my normal places (AS220, Local 121) could use something else in the rotation.

Super great to meet all y’all fellow Unilocalers! Loved the drinks and the snacks smelled fantastic — but I would have loved a vegan option! ERB was so fun and unexpected, and great to see them again after HONK on Columbus day!
The Salon was different and definitely worth a trip back, despite the most unflattering light of all time in the ladies room =)

What a wonderful event! It was great to meet so many people who’s reviews I have greatly appreciated. The bartenders were incredibly nice, the apps were delightful, and The Salon will def be visited again soon! Great job to the Extraordinary Rendition Band, and for Brianna for putting together a rockin’ Tuesday evening get together!

I’ve been to Unilocal events in three cities now. And this kick off took the cake. Such a great bunch of people to spend an evening with. Briana M. is super cool and picked an excellent venue for the event. The food and band were awesome. Loved the meatballs and lamb… and the free Blue Moon!
The band was great, a marching band that does great covers of well known tunes. They were dressed in costumes marched around in close quarters and raised the energy of the party to fanatic levels.
I’m looking forward to the next outing!

Congrats to the Unilocal Providence Elite group and Briana for throwing such a fun event!

A grown up marching band geek adults jamming out on their instruments to Smooth Criminal? AMAZING. I loved sitting on the picnic table under the standing trombonist rocking out! They were the perfect entertainment and so energetic — made me pine for my old high school band days ;-)
Good times everyone! I will now rock my new « Unilocal Life» fingerless gloves with style. Can’t wait for the next event!

Providence comin in with a BANG!
I’ve gone to quite a few interweb meetups and I always end up meeting many socially awkward people that make me wish I stayed home. But like I mentioned in the forum, the people were fun. And normal (in a good way).
Unilocal HQ couldn’t have picked a better community leader.

awesome event, Briana! my roommate and i had SO much fun, even if we got there an hour late (stupid commute from Worcester). good drinks, good food, and AWESOME band! it was such a fun time and the gloves were a great favor, i’m SO gonna use them when i’m on my computer in my freezing cold apartment. my only complaint would be that the dj was blasting the music TOO loud! other than that, it was FABULOUS! woot elite!

Thanks Brianna for bringing the Elite crew together to celebrate how awesome we are —- with our gloves and swag.
This was a great beginning to a monthly event.
What I liked about it was not only did it allow me to put faces with reviews, but it also introduced me to a cool venue — how can you beat ping pong — and some great entertainers (ERB was so fun!)
