Fantastic gem in Provincetown. Aaron is a delight! He is a dedicated foodie and his product shows it. I can’t wait to get back to town to get another Lucky Dog. Sadly Aaron did not open for the 2014 season. I was SO looking forward to having some of the best dogs you can get.

My bf had the beach club lobster roll(w/avocado & bacon) and said it was the best lobster roll he’s ever had. He also had the baked bean hot dog which he said was pretty good. I had a vegetarian hot dog(points for having a veg option) but made the mistake of not ordering any toppings on it — was pretty bland but that was bad judgment on my part as veggie dogs aren’t usually exceptional. So if you’re going to get one, make sure to get toppings!!! Cute place. Good service. Kind of pricy though! Also, we were wondering why they don’t offer hot dogs with lobster topping as that seems like an obvious/awesome option.

Almost every town has a place for great hot dogs. In P-town, this is THEPLACE! The hot dogs are flavorful an juicy with that perfect«snap» when you bite into it. Service is friendly and enthusiastic. The owner really knows his stuff and offered us his new creation: a hot dog with red pepper cream cheese. Amazing. The place is spotless and so clean… Pristine. Great place for lunch or a quick snack between bar hopping.

Good hot dogs — pretty fast service. Like all things at the Cape, the food here is way overpriced for what it is. That being said, the hot dogs are good. If you’ve never had mac n cheese on a hot dog, it’s worth trying, but it does become a pretty heavy and dense meal. The menu lacked depth compared to other fancy hot dog shops at the same price point in Chicago or New York — ie Crif Dogs. That being said, they do a good job with what they offer, but I would love to see them provide more options or variations on their hot dogs. I would definitely go back when I’m back in town.

Nothing is more all-American than the hot dog. You don’t care what’s in it, you just know it’s tasty. But the hot dog is what it is, you toss mustard, relish, ketchup and maybe some onions if you’re getting jiggy with it. Or there’s the chili dog, the corn dog or the 7 – 11 creations with synthesized cheese food. In the end though, it’s still a hot dog. You can’t elevate it. That’s what I thought. The other day I tried something called a Mac Daddy. A big-ass hot dog on a standard bun, covered with chili, mac and cheese and bacon. So wrong, yet, oh-so-right. I felt my arteries clogging as I ate this. My heart was begging me to stop while my stomach and taste buds cried«more, more, more!» I was conflicted. I know what I was consuming was potentially lethal, but it was so inspired and comforting. All I can say is, I’m glad this place is in the very last town in Massachusetts where it’s difficult to get to; if I had access to this every day I’d need a crane to get me out of my house and I’d be on some TLC show. To add insult to injury, I discovered Hal’s cookies. Today’s baked creation: pumpkin, ginger cookies. They’re kind of like if a ginger snap and a piece of pumpkin bread had a love child. I wanted more, but this place gets pretty busy so the line was long enough to give me time to talk myself out of it. Speaking of lines, this place can get pretty backed up and unfortunately during my visit(I don’t have enough experience to judge an average day) they got in the weeds. They forgot to make my hot dog and my other half’s pulled pork sandwich. When I raised the issue, my friend behind me was skipped. Call it a cascade wiener failure. The cool thing is, the man I presumed to be the owner gave us our money back for our trouble. I find this super-impressive, because you don’t see that happening much nowadays. Moreover, they seemed genuinely horrified that it happened, leading me to believe it probably wasn’t an every day occurrence. As for seating, it can be at a premium either in or outdoors. The outdoor seating consists of a few picnic tables near the public restroom. They could stand to add a few more picnic tables if they could squeeze them in. If I had two other wishes for this place, it would be: 1) In a more obvious location and 2) Open late at night… do you have any idea how awesome this food would be to soak up excess alcohol? It would sober your ass right up. All in all I loved it, I want to lose 40 lbs so I can come back.

These are some great dogs! We went there for lunch and had a variety of the specialty dogs. We also had a veggie friend with us, so great that they do veggie dogs. I had one with sauerkraut and we had one with mac and cheese on it. Huge filling dogs, great after a rough night out on the town! The sides are all pretty yummy, too. I will be back in on my next P-town visit, and that is saying a lot with so many other places to try!

On the road in Cape Cod, I made like Free Willy and was apparently on a mission to stuff fried scallops and clams in my gullet from nearly every seafood shack that dotted Highway 6 along the way. So let’s just say that by the time I hit Ptown, a hot dog sounded downright delectable. Ever since I heard Gavin’s «You know what’s in wieners?» monologue on Kids in the Hall, I’ve been a self-proclaimed hot dog-aficionado. Well, last week, I got lucky at Lucky Dog in Ptown! Check out this hidden gem, and discover exceptional, creatively crafted love on a bun, infused with passion and topped with talent. Nom nom nom nom nom. Comprised of all-natural, premium ingredients(including beef brisket!), the hot dogs at Lucky Dog possess that magical snap which can only be found in those culinary treasures made with natural casing. For my foray into Lucky Dog Land, I selected the chili dog. The spectacular homemade chili was perfectly seasoned, and was outrageously delicious, yet not too spicy.(But if it’s spicy you’re after, never fear, for Lucky Dog offers a selection of hot sauces to dress up their all-beef wonder wieners, including a slap-my-sassafrass-house-made version that will fuel your fuego.) Five stars! Definitely do not miss: Make tracks to Lucky Dog! P. S. At Lucky Dog, you won’t break the bank either. We enjoyed a late lunch for under $ 15. Awesome.

If I was 18, there would be another star. Lucky Dog is not easy to find since it is between the main shopping street and the town’s parking lot. The inside has an industrial-hospital-modern clean design. The place is also super clean. Staff was friendly and there is an outside eating area. Ordered the hotdog with baked macaroni and cheese with smoked bacon on top. It was not temperature hot so the dish on the colder side was not great($ 8,95). The portion was huge and bought half home to my 18 year old neighbor.

Forget all the dumb weiner jokes. This place is a gem. My family and I have declared Lucky Dog to be the best hot dogs and fixings we have had anywhere in the world. MYATFDOGBARNONE! My personal favorite is their kraut dog(hot dog with mustard & sauerkraut), and a side of their amazing baked beans. This is a must try place for anyone who enjoys a good dog and finds themselve’s in P-town.

I guess I had to try the Mac dog since I was there. It was pretty good. Mac and cheese didn’t have a lot of flavor, but still good. The bacon is nice and thick. Overall, it was pretty good. The owner is very personable. Go ahead and try it.

My fiancé and I make a pilgrimage to Lucky Dog once a year. Their dogs are simply amazing. For the last 2 years I have gotten the Mac and Cheese dog with bacon. To die for. My fiancé was very brave this last Sunday and got the 1 lb Monument dog, loaded.(Go to Lucky Dog and find out what this means for yourself.) He downed it in 11:41 minutes! When you visit, don’t forget to get dessert, which is usually near to the register and very delicious. All the fixings at Lucky Dog are house made from scratch. You can absolutely taste the difference and the quality. Dogs and buns are bought, but are of excellent quality. The restaurant is always immaculate and bright. All of these things are wonderful. However, I think the part I look forward to the most is seeing Aaron, the owner of Lucky Dog. He is very personable and has made sure that each of our visits to Lucky Dog have been special. The rest of the the staff is equally polite, pleasant and helpful. This place is great for a date, family lunch or quick bite. You really cant go wrong coming here.

Yes. Yes. ohgodYes. Comfort food soars to new levels at Lucky Dog in Ptown. Imagine a beefy hot dog heaped with homemade macaroni & cheese and topped with smoky chunks of house cured bacon. And it was MINE. ALLMINE. This modest little eatery certainly packs a punch with the creative combos reinvented as hotdog toppings(for ½ pound or 1lb dogs… rawr!) My boyfriend enjoyed the blue cheese & bacon dog and we had a blast chatting with the owner about this sassy little operation. Aside from the bangin’ dogs, lobster rolls, sausages, and homemade sides, he’s testing out some fab desserts and let us sample some amazing banana cookies with candied bacon. All in all, I loveeee me a good dog and Lucky sure delivered — with friendly service and an unbeatable vibe. I don’t think I’ve ever given 5 stars to a hot dog joint — but I try to give ‘em when deserved!

What a great find in PTown! Stopped there for lunch and I got the Mac n cheese with bacon dog and my wife got the blue cheese and bacon dog! They were both awesome! Not you average everyday hotdog. The place was so clean(which is a rarity in hotdog joints) and the owner was so awesome! He chatted with all of us and gave us some great pointers of other local places to check out while on the cape. The only downer about this place(and it isn’t a big deal you just need to be prepared) is that they are cash only. So if you are buying for a group… make sure you got some green with you! Can’t wait til the next time we are in PTown to stop here again!

A great place to get hot dogs at the beach and definitely one of the better hot dog places I’ve been to! Located near the waterfront parking lot and not right on Commercial St. The dogs are large(not foot long), in natural casings(a big plus for me!), and heaped with toppings. You’ll need a fork. Lots of choices for toppings. They also serve ½ pound and whole pound dogs, if that’s what you want. The restaurant is very clean and the guys that work there are very friendly. One of them saw my husband’s jacket out on a chair in their outdoor seating area, and he brought it in because he was worried about paint getting on it(they were painting a new mural outside). My brother and sister-in-law have been to foot-long hot dog places nearby, and they said Lucky Dog was far superior. Note: Cash only; there is an atm right next door if you need it.

***UPDATEDREVIEW I wanted to write an update because there’s a few things I left out last time. First, Lucky Dog is more than just a hot dog place. They have made it into an experience. The place is spotless and I love that they have outdoor seating. The owner is a sweetheart and one of those guys who can make you smile any day of the week. For those of you who have written reviews on Unilocal and complained about price(«Five dollars for a hot dog with mustard and onions…») I have news for you. Many of you don’t live here. I do. When you pay upwards of $ 20−30k for(essentially a) 11 week season, you’d go out of business if you charged less than that. But you know what? I’d rather pay $ 5 for a hot dog and know its going to a local business rather than $ 2 for a cancer dog from some big chain«restaurant.»

I was impressed this place, walked in and was greeted by very friendly and helpful servers. I had the chili dog with hot peppers on the side which left a burn in my mouth just how I like it. Craving one now, I wish there was one closer to me. My son got a big tootsie roll lollipop which made him a fan. Next time I’m in P-Town I’m going back!

Nine super reviews for these hot dogs? Hmmmmm. I don’t think so. I guess my daughter and I weren’t at the same place or we didn’t add mac n’ cheese on the dogs(which would make me gag) or maybe it’s because we’re redheads! Five dollars for a hot dog with mustard and onions on a bun taken out of a plastic Pepperidge Farms bag. Not even toasted. And the hot dog wasn’t hot(temperature). Next time we’re craving nitrates, I’ll go buy a package of Nathan’s.

Who knew the simple hot dog could be raised to such heights??? Bear Week in Provincetown is notable for many things — and great food and great food *specials* are one of the highlights. We were told about Lucky Dog and their«Brown Bear» hot dog(a dog with Mac & Cheese &CANDIEDBACON(!!!)) while attending a party & made a bee-line for Lucky Dog the next day to sample their wares. We were impressed with the hot dogs(we even up-sized the ¼lb dog to the ½lb versions, too!), the well thought out flavour combinations — they’re a meal unto themselves & as far beyond a «snack» as you can get, that’s for sure! :o) Any time you return to a restaurant *three-times* in less than a week says *something* good is going on, that’s for sure! We couldn’t stop recommending them to just about everyone we talked to during our week in P’Town — «Hey, have you EVER eaten a hot dog before? NOTLIKETHIS, you haven’t!» We even brought some friends with us on our 2nd visit and *they* insisted we go back with them before their visit was over. One of them had a plain dog and a mac&cheese side-order — so it’s obviously not just about the combos, but the flavours. How weird is it to want to go on vacation again JUST so you can eat at a hot dog joint? But this hot dog joint is unlike any other, that’s for sure! Try it out for yourself! :o)
