Never had a beard before but Joey, the owner it turns out, turned a mess of facial growth into something really sharp.

Joey has a great sense of humor, quite ribald, so only go in when your brain is engaged or you’ll just not get it. I naively asked if I was at the top or bottom of Commercial Street. Answer: We’re versatile in Provincetown. I asked for thet one!!!

Awesome barber shop! I have been going to Dennis for 4 years. Every haircut is perfect. I go in, close my eyes, open them 15 – 20 mins. later and WOW!!! Lots of fun and banter. And Joey’s sort of nice.

Before I write the review, let me first tell you I’m a horrible client for anyone who cuts hair. I do not care how the rest of me looks, but I have a nice full head of hair and it *has* to be cut perfectly, each and every time. I typically will ‘train’ someone how to cut my hair to my liking, and when I do find someone who cuts in the manner I like it, I won’t switch for ANYTHING (until now).
Now, I have someone I like in Boston who has cut my hair for a few years. She does a great job, so I tend to not stray. But… I was in Provincetown in August on vacation, and I was between haircuts. But I felt a bit scrubby walking around town, so I decided to give Monument a try, since all my friends rave about how wonderful it is. So I really had nothing to lose (except my hair!)
I went in and put my name on the blackboard and was ready for anyone there to cut my hair. I ended up getting the owner, Joey, to cut my hair.
Wow is all I have to say. All I had to tell him is a general idea on how I wanted it trimmed up, and that was it. He did it perfectly on the first try (while most new people who cut my hair. it takes a few visits to get it *exactly* the way I like it). He also trimmed my beard up, trimmed my bushy eye brows, and did a nice warm foam straight razor back of the neck shave at the end too.
He is VERY nice and friendly. Very talkative, very flirty, and very fast. Typically it takes someone about an hour to do my hair and beard, he did it in about 25 minutes. He was just amazingly fast! I left with good looking hair and was very satisfied.
So over the Labor Day weekend a few weeks later, I was back in Ptown vacationing, so I decided to go back again and get cleaned up. This time I requested and waited for Joey because wanted to get the same great haircut again. He remembered me and remembered how I liked my hair cut. All I had to do was verify I wanted a zero on the sides, and to tell him to make my beard less bushy, and he just simply did it. I found this to be amazing considering that I can only imagine how many new faces he sees in a month. And, this time the cut was even better than the last!
I definitely will be going back when I head back to Ptown on Columbus Day Weekend!
PS — His prices are extremely reasonable. 20 bucks for a haircut is a steal, considering how much I pay for my hair to be cut in Boston. (Almost twice that). But since he did such a great job and loved that he remembered me, he got the difference in a hefty tip. It was worth every penny.

Joey, Kevin, Dennis are great! Fun atmosphere and great fade! I get nervous about trying new barbers, but they did great work and most of all had fun while I was there!

Wonderful place! I am honeymooning here with my partner and meant to get my haircut at my usual place prior to the trip. My hair was a mess, so I went in and Dennis promptly greeted me. He’s a great guy, who did a great job cleaning up the mop on my head. Fabulous place, very affordable, great find in PTown for an out of towner… Thank you!!!

Walked in to get a «pre-​wedding, I’ve been on vacation for a week» straight razor shave. Sat down with Steven and was treated like a king! Full shave from the neck to the top of my head. No nicks, high quality products, lively banter, and only a few whiskers missed. Lots of hot towels, a wicked face and head massage, and a cold towel at the end. Left feeling like a million bucks, totally relaxed and probably half gay.
Best $ 50 I’ve spent in awhile and I’m already booked for next summer for my anniversary.

This is what a barbershop should be! Great cuts, awesome service, fun banter. Joey keeps the place moving like a conga line through a crowded party. You will get personalized attention, a great haircut and enjoyable chatter with other clients or, if you prefer, some quiet magazine/​smart phone surfing time.
They recently instituted a call-​ahead and join the waiting line service that totally rocks! This place is a great way to spend some time in Ptown, and oh yeah, have a haircut!

Wait… have I really never written a review of this place?!
Okay, I’ve been seeing Joey every summer since he used to be on Bradford (by the monument) and I will take my butt out to Ptown as often as possible just for him. I do say him, but I mean him or any of the other crazy skilled barbers in his shop.
Stop reading reviews and just go already!

I went this winter. It’s a small, friendly barber shop to catch up on your local gossip, and get a great cut. Bonus points for the warm lather and shave as a finish. it’s my new go-​to place.
