When we take every aspect of a review into account we give this winery 4 stars. The wines are good, some very good. It is a casual, comfortable and friendly place to visit. The owner is great!

The husband and I stopped here earlier this sunny Sunday, and I’ve fallen in love. After parking carefully between the wandering hens, we went inside to find several other couples laughing and drinking and clearly having a great time. We sat at one of the small tables near the window, and the man who was working(I’m embarrassed to say I never caught his name) came right over to begin our tasting. Mmmm the wines were good! Chardonnay, Traminette, Vidal Blanc, Cab, a fifth I’m blanking on, and the Meritage as well. I liked all of them, which is a rarity. The man conducting our tasting was friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, and very generous with his pour. He also stopped by several times with small plates of appetizers: pretzels and a couple fantastic dips they sell on site(Bacon Jam and Habanero Butter, we bought both), a variety of bruschetta, and bread and oil. They were even baking brownies while we were there, which smelled fantastic. After the tasting, we bought a couple glasses and sat out on the patio to sip them and feed the hens. This will be a regular haunt for me, no doubt. Highly recommended.

When I first walked in here, I was thinking it wouldn’t be too great. It was pretty tiny and without that huge open space that a lot of local wineries have. But Crushed Cellars really surprised me. Not only did they have good wine, but the atmosphere was better than any of the other vineyards in the area. They were friendly, never rushed us(and we hung out at the tasting table for a long while), served tastings even outside and at individual tables, offered us extra«splashes» of our favorites and served yummy bites with the tastings. Dogs were welcome inside and out & chickens meandered around the vines, to the fascination of the little kids. To top it off, their wines and food plates were reasonably priced. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there. This winery is worth your visit!

Awesome customer service, good wine. With almost 10 acres under vine, both here and further south, they are on the smaller side. Crushed Cellars definitely put the ‘farm’ in ‘farm winery’; be careful not to hit the free roaming chickens when parking! The cozy tasting room has a fun/casual hangout vibe, including puzzles and games in the corner. They also have free snack samples, plus lots of farm goods like eggs and even meats. I saw someone get a BIG cheese plate for $ 8, but I went for the cupcakes. Crushed Cellars is also one of the most dog friendly locations in the area. The tasting included 5 wines for $ 8, although I also got a sample of their Meritage which was not on the menu. During last year’s visit I wasn’t overly impressed with many of their wines, but this time I saw a marked improvement in quality. The prices were all really good as well. Whites: 3 stars? Maybe 3.5? I wasn’t a big fan of the Chardonnay, but to be fair there aren’t many Chards I like. The Vidal Blanc was OK, although the $ 19 price was good. The Traminette was advertised as semi dry, but I found it to be more ‘dry’ than not; my favorite of the whites. Reds: 3.5 to 4 stars. The Meritage had a cherry palate. The Cab Sav had a nice nose and was soft. But the big hit was the Syrah/Cab Sav blend, which was somewhat fruity and only $ 25. When I make space in my wine rack, it will be a nice addition. While wines were generally pretty good, what blew me away was my server’s(who as also the owner/wine maker) genuine friendliness. Re-tastes were done without any prompting, and he was literally giving away bottles of water. I’m a fan!

This is the best hospitality I ever experienced at a winery. The owner was amazing topping off our glasses and bringing out complimentary appetizers and water while we enjoyed time with friends. The wine was so good as well and the cheese plate for $ 10 dollars was a steal. I will return here many times, simply amazing!

I need to do an update. It’s only fair to be honest whether the review is good or bad. In 2011 we visited and I was not impressed… you can see my review. We decided to visit again because a lot can change in four years… especially with wine. The change is pretty amazing. The wines are pretty good… nothing special but good. Until you hit the Cabernet Sauvignon! WOW very good. This Cab is worth the trip, please stop by and try it. the rest are good so a nice Chardonnay for the white wine lovers. The winery is a bit small so keep that in mind if bringing a group. Friendly, my son was fine(he’s 12) I’m glad we stopped again!

This is probably our new favorite winery. We drove up from Frederick, MD and will be coming back. All the wines are EXCELLENT!!! It is so rare to find a winery where every wine is good. Everyone that works here is very nice and attentive. We had their fresh bread and cheese plate– very good! Beautiful setting and dog friendly. I highly suggest coming here!

I loved my recent visit to Crushed Cellars, not only for the wine but the great customer service. Rare in my many visits to area wineries have I received such enthusiasm and generosity, much less my the actual owner! Crushed Cellars is a pretty small winery. The tasting room is rather intimate, and there is some outdoor seating. But, it’s quaint nevertheless, especially with the free-roaming chickens out and about, peering in at your while you enjoy some wine! We ended up being taken care of mostly by the owner. And he was happy to continue pouring past the prescribed tastings. When he found out that my friend and I really enjoyed the Traminette, we must have received a handful of extra pours thereafter. In addition, we ordered a glass of the 100% cab to enjoy, and he poured us a bit more after we finished our glass. We also were given complimentary bruchetta and bread and olive oil. A few of the other customers were enjoying what looked to be a nicely put together cheese plate. To me, this is how it’s supposed to be done. If you love your product and what you do, share that with your customers! Enough with the nickle and diming, because if your customers like the wine and have a positive tasting experience, they are likely going to be big supporters and buy plenty of your wine. Crushed was definitely selling quite a bit of wine while we were there. It was a great tasting experience, as made all the more fun by the owner and his clear love of his wine. I will definitely be back! Tip: They are dog friendly, so make sure to bring your pooch when you visit!

The 5 stars is a mix of two big things for me, customer service and the wine. And they are very dog friendly. The tasting room is kind of small, but quaint. The bar holds about 8 people and there are 4 small tables in the room as well. There is an upstairs, which I didn’t see, but the tables do overlook the tasting room. There is a nice outdoor seating area facing the road and it is covered. The wines were decent. I ended up liking the Traminette and the 100% Cab Sav. I bought a glass of the Cab. Bob was very generous with the pours. I didn’t feel I usually do at other wineries when they pour. He let us have extra tastes of the ones that we were more interesting in and those pours were equally as big. We did sit there for a while just because it was so lovely and he was so friendly. He ended up giving us some bruschetta with our tasting and then with our glass he brought some bread and oil. Customer service sells big for me. Even if I love a wine somewhere, if their customer service is bad, I won’t be back. Bob has the right idea. His place isn’t pretentious in the least, but it is every bit of a quality winery. His customer service is what sets his play apart. It shows too. He was very busy while we were there and many of the people were semi local. Tasting was $ 5 for 7 wines(6 are listed on the tasting sheet). Their pours are solid and we got no grief or judgment when we wanted to re try a few. Those pours were just as big. We felt very appreciated being there.

My husband and I went here as part of the winery tour around the area. I have to say that of all the wineries we visited this was by far our favorite. The atmosphere was very relaxed and he had snacks provided. He even brought out some samples of spreads that could be bought which all tasted very good. The wine was also excellent and the owner was awesome. He was very accommodating and generous with his tastings! At one point he asked me if I liked the white I just tried to which I replied yes and he just refilled my glass and said I could try it again! If you are planning to visit some wineries in this area I strongly recommend you visit this one!

This place is top notch! Have been to many wineries in nova and this one takes the cake so far! The wine was great, the environment was relaxed, the owner bob was great and served complimentary pairings with the wine. There are chicken eggs available for sale, on site, which is cool too. Would def recommend visiting! It is less commercial than some in the surrounding area with better quality wine and service!

I went to Crushed Cellars last week. I went several times before and found Bob to be friendly and attentive. The last couple of time, that wasn’t the case. The wines were ok, the only one that stood out was the Meritage. He did sell me a glass after I waited, but he only seemed interested in helping his fiends that were there. I was also interested in picking up the Organic Sausage as well as some beef to make spaghetti sauce. He seemed that all he wanted was for me to settle my tab and get out, he didn’t even see if I wanted to take any bottles with me. He did say that he hopes I will come back soon. I wish I could give a better review, but I can’t. As for coming back to visit his winery, let’s just say that with over 270 wineries in VA, it’s not looking good.

My wife and I have visited many wineries in the local area and enjoyed many. Crushed Cellars is so different to the others we have visited, and I mean different in a very good way. We figured that this would be a quick stop, nice to try somewhere new for us. We had our 4 year old daughter who can get easily bored to the point where our tablet is an essential bring to any winery. In the case of Crushed Cellars, the tablet was not needed, she was well entertained with the puzzles and owner of the winery. Bob and the atmosphere he creates is what sets this winery apart from many others we have visited, he is very personable and his personality is at the heart of the place. The wine is good, nothing that was not at least drinkable and many that were really nice, our tasting was a bargin at $ 5. Having our child with us, it was great that Bob gave us and others tastings at our table. Not only were the tasting portions a good size(served with topped bread bites!) but Bob always took time to tell us about the wines and make sure we were enjoying our time. Because we were enjoying our stay so much we opted to order some meat and cheese and a glass of the good stuff. Our quick stop here became a nice relaxing long stay. The wine and the food were both really good and the personal touches from Bob were a true bonus, the way he took care of our daughter ensured that this is her favorite winery :) The place itself is small and intimate. The free running chickens(outside) add to the character of the place. Suffice to say we will be coming back, with friends. If you are looking for a clinical in and out tasting then maybe this is not going to be your favorite stop. If you enjoy a personal and warm experience then you will likely find this THE most pleasant surprise of any Loudoun County wine visit.

Honestly I have been to wineries in France Spain England napa Sanoma Williamite Yakima valley, and all over but this is the BEST environment I have ever been to! The owner is I credible and so welcoming! The owner is such a great guy that he really showed us around and talked to us about the eggs that his kids make and the organic meats he has from some property! Amazing I can’t say enough amazing things! Thank you guys! You are the best winery I have ever been to! :)

Always a great time. The atmosphere is perfect, the wine is delicious and I even got a few things off the grocery list– fresh eggs from the property along with a great selection of cheeses and local meats.

Stopped here yesterday with a friend from my wine club and we had a great visit. The customer service was impressive– we got a complimentary plate of little pieces of bread with various types of bruschetta and tapenade on top– and the pours were very generous! My favorite wine was the second on the line-up, the Vidal Blanc. Also, you cannot beat a $ 5 tasting! Rare in this part of wine country. They also had various types of local goodies for sale, including bread, which was something ridiculously cheap like $ 2? My friend bought a loaf that we enjoyed at our next winery stop. Crushed Cellars has a very, very relaxed vibe and is so quaint and unpretentious, a nice change from many of the more hyped-up tasting rooms in Northern VA. And the chickens walking around, I mean, come on. Too fun! Bottom line: highly recommend Crushed Cellars for their ambiance, great customer service, excellent prices and of course, yummy wines!
