My wife and I just had the pleasure of starting off our anniversary weekend getaway by dinning at Grandale restaurant. The service was fast, the food delicious, and the location, perfectly close to our destination. If you’re ever in the area, I’d highly recommend stopping by and trying the crab cakes.

Upon making plans to travel to the Harper’s Ferry area to celebrate our wedding anniversary I researched places for a nice dinner and this restaurant was listed as a must visit. It did not disappoint ! The food was delicious and our waiter, Omar was very attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and friendly. My wife ordered the lobster risotto and it was overflowing with lobster. Good for her! I ordered the halibut dish and did not like the pairing with snow peas and carrots and they replaced my sides with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables which were great. And they comped my meal b/c I did not like the pairing. I highly recommend you visit the 868 estate vineyards before having dinner for wine sampling. We did and it was great! The staff there were overly nice and accommodating.

Love that it’s just a few seconds from the tasting room! Crab cakes were small, but worth the money, and I got the lobster risotto, which I thought was great. A bit more than I normally like to spend on food, but the food was worth the price. As far as drinks are concerned, beer list was ok, and I really enjoy all the 868 wine that is offered

We decided to go to Grandale at 868 Estate Winery for Sunday brunch, while trying catch the last of the colorful foliage before the leaves fall. I made reservations on open table for the same day and we were able to get in at noon. Reservations are recommended due to the small seating area. There were a lot of people seated when we arrived and I was a little concerned that our food would be delayed. Not the case! Appetizer and meals came out right on time. The fresh bread was delicious. We ordered the pumpkin gnudi for an appetizer, filet mignon benedict and crab cake benedict. The pumpkin appetizer was fabulous, steak and crab cakes were prepared wonderfully. The poached eggs were a bit inconsistent, one being a bit undercooked. After mentioning it to our server, Christina, she brought another that was cooked much better. Aaron, the young man that was setting and bussing tables, never let our water run dry and never sat still accommodating guests at the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Grandale. A great place to come for brunch, followed by nice wine tasting in the tasting room.

What a great find!!! Went to do a wine tasting at 868 estate vineyards and discovered their restaurant… Small quaint friendly… Wonderful hostess!!! The food was fabulous… Fred had halibut and butternut squash and I had braised beef… Also had anniversary appetizer and Bibb salad… Absolutely delish!!! Will visit again next time we back!!!

The restaurant location was beautiful. We sat outdoors on the deck and couldn’t have asked for better weather. The server was excellent — friendly, knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing. We were only stopping in for a light lunch, so I don’t want to pass judgement on the quality of the food overall, but what we had was mixed. The two appetizers, the duck and the pumpkin dish, were phenomenal — really delicious, nice presentation, interesting flavors,(5⁄5). The two soups we had — a mushroom bisque and a chicken chili — were mediocre. The chicken chili was incredibly thin and somewhat flavorless. I wouldn’t really even call it chili. The mushroom bisque was better, but still somewhat flavorless.(2⁄5) Overall, I would definitely return, but would probably be more careful in ordering.

Great food, good service and nice views. Try the pork shank and grouper. Wine by the glass selection from the 868 vineyard. Get there early and you can sit on the beautiful deck.

This place is truly a hidden gem. I have never had a bad meal here. They offer some amazing dishes and consistently knock my socks off with combinations I never would have tried otherwise. The wait staff has seemed a bit overwhelmed and unhappy at times, which is unfortunate… but the food is absolutely magnificient! Enjoy!

Great meal after a day in wine country. I’d been to Grandale several times, but this was my most recent. I went for the pork shanks and a wine tasting. The tasting looks odd because it’s served in what looks like laboratory vials; maybe they were expecting me to experiment? Out of the tasting, the Cab Sav was the favorite; very, very sooth finish. Grandale is a great restaurant, and seems to cater to a local or tourist crowd, so the dress code is casual. My only complaint is it’s on the pricy side. Not sure how Unilocal classifies this with only two $$.

My friend and I had a late lunch yesterday after tasting wines at 868. We split several vegetarian small plates including the special with ramps, couscous and patti pan squash. We also had the trout latkes and the stuffed artichoke. Everything was great and we had a couple of glasses of local wine while we were at it. Small and quiet but a bit over priced.

We had a great meal on a quiet Saturday night. The service was terrific, the food was very tasty, and the ambiance was very pleasant. I would definitely return but sit outside next time. The website left the impression that fancy attire would be necessary, but it’s a very lax business casual. I wore a dress and flip flops.

Always a great experience visiting and dining with these folks. The service is first rate. .. meaning the servers are well trained and know what quality service really means in an elegant dinner setting. The food is always superb and, surprisingly, well prices given the quality and polish. This past Easter I had the Sea Bass special and I absolutely enjoyed it. Hard to describe the care that was given preparing this dish. Excellent taste and presentation all round. And of course dessert. I had a chocolate special and it was sinful. I thought all the portion sizes was perfect for me. My wife though my dish should have been a bit larger. But, no complains here. Honest, I would give this restaurant five stars if they were situated in a more restaurant like facility with a some resturant like mood. They took up shop in a old build that is part of the farm and just sort-of drab. Not a negative when you come to visit. But not a positive either. We will be back again and again.

I have been here 3 times in the past 2 years. It’s one of more expensive restaurants in vicinity of the eastern panhandle of WV. The inside is small and can get cramped fast. I sat outside once and it was nice, but super buggy. I was surprised there wasn’t more citronella torches or maybe just add an awning. There is supposed to be a dress code after 4pm, but it isn’t enforced. If you aren’t going to enforce it, don’t have it because it just degrades the atmosphere. For a small menu, there is quite a variety, but could be a challenge for a vegetarian. I wouldn’t recommend it to vegans. As for the food, only one dish has stood out — at the second visit we had the pork belly mac n cheese that was awesome. Each time someone had steak in my party and it was done one under(i.e., medium was medium rare). I had the porterhouse pork(fancy name for pork chop) this last time and knowing they under cook I went with well done. It was medium well and very tasty. The grits were overcooked and clumpy and the chard was cold, they both had good flavor. Come to think of it, the food never really arrives hot more like lukewarm. The beer menu is limited, but there are plenty of crappy VA wines to select. For the money, it’s just ok.

Somewhat disappointing… started upon arrival, we were feeling very good after a wine tasting and were looking forward to a wonderful lunch. My husband had been here a month or so before and was raving so he made reservations and specifically asked if they offered the dinner menu at lunch/brunch as he said they had a wonderful steak. So we walked in and were seated in a cubby behind a wall? Place was mostly empty but we were stuck with out a view? Girl who seated us was out waitress and seemed very young and inexperienced. As we asked about selections she shared her dislikes. Found it strange that the menu descriptions did not reflect what was actually served? Oh and no they did not offer dinner service? So we got burgers, were steered away from the appetizers by server and I am not a fan of cold soups and the burger was served with a very small salad as it’s side(literally about 4 bites)…lol! But the burger and salad was very good. Ordered desserts again steered away from a couple of options and new descriptions of offerings? Got the Dark and White Choc cake w/caramel sauce and the Black raspberry Blondie — funny no white Choc and no raspberries? Both were pretty good just not as described. Service was not great and the meal disappointing as we expected more. Next visit we will stick with the 868 Vineyard and eat at the outside grill with entertainment. I bet the service and atmosphere is much better! Too bad was really looking forward to a great meal

Love this place! If you want to have a good meal and taste wines from their winery this is the place to go! This place has a farm to table restaurant and a winery next door. Really great food, outside seating, beautiful environment, and really cute winery. You could literally spend the day here. So much fun!

This place is pretty sweet and is a real restaurant for people who are fans of food. The chef really enjoys making the best experience possible. We are fortunate enough to have them doing our wedding but we’ve been in for two tastings so far and its been amazing. Both times we had similar set ups with two appetizers, two salads, two main courses and two desserts. The combinations of flavors and supporting additions that make a great experience.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant for well over a year and we finally went… huge disappointment. The servers are so young and inexperienced that they don’t have the pedigree to correlate to the price you are paying for your meal/experience. Food was fine, not great and certainly not bad. Dessert was the high point but I found myself continuously missing something during the meal(a utensil, sugar, more water, clean napkin) that speaks to the level of detail and attention that this highly overrated restaurant is lacking. I won’t go back, it wasn’t worth it and it’s too expensive to just give it another shot — too many other great options within minutes. Super disappointed in Grandale Farm.

We were in the area and decided to try Grandale for a late lunch… GREATDECISION! They had several salads, sandwiches and appetizers to choose from and between the 4 of us we tried several items on the menu and all were prepared PERFECTLY! The scallops for an appetizer were some of the BEST we’ve had. Flavorful and heated perfectly to ensure the right texture, taste and feel. The seasoning was delicious! The sautéed pears that were on the baby spinach salad were amazing! They added a GREAT sweetness to the savory salad. Also tried their roasted corn and leek soup… once again — AMAZING!!! The freshness of the diced veggies and herbs in it, along with the creamy soup made for a flavorful treat! The desserts were simply amazing too! Their crème brûlée with chocolate chips was soooo tasty! What a GREAT combo! And we couldn’t resist also trying the chocolate decadence cake — Great choice as well! The young lady we had serving us on our visit was GREAT! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent service, with a smile as well! This is one of the best meals we’ve had within such a reasonable price point! We look forward to joining them again!
