Went here today as we were enticed by the free chocolate-covered strawberry coupons that we had from both the Put-in-Bay brochure and the golf cart rental place :). When you walk up, it has the air of an estate, and it’s right on the lake too, which was nice. A few people were drinking from bottles of wine in the front, so I’m guessing you can purchase a bottle and drink it outside if you wish — the weather today was perfect for that, as well. We got our strawberries and each had 1 wine sampler. My boyfriend decided to buy a bottle of the Black Berry wine, so we’ll have that to enjoy later at some point too :). The only reason this gets 4⁄5 stars from me and not 5 is because the service was a bit slow … to be fair, there were a lot of people at the counter, but we were kind of in a rush. I’d like to come back here another time though and do a full wine tasting(maybe 3 or 4 wines) or perhaps enjoy a glass or bottle outside.

This beautiful winery is just left of the jet express. We were warmly welcomed by the other guests as well as the people behind the counter as we entered the winery. This is located in a beautiful old home that just welcomes you to in. They offer tastings of your choice from one sample to 4. We were instructed on how to properly taste our samples of wine to get the best taste. We prefer a dry wine and they did not disappoint! When we were done with our tasting we were planning on heading out but mother nature had other plans. Since it was pouring rain buckets we bought a bottle of wine and sat on the front porch to watch the rain. Being stuck at a winery in a rain downpour was not so bad;)

Not impressed. Great location and nice establishment. However, wine is not as good as the other winery and over priced.

Put-In-Bay Winery completely blew me away. The wines are very affordably priced and are of the highest quality. I did a four-wine tasting, which is a rariety in its own right, and I was amazed that this winery offers a wide range of superb wines. I am far more accoustomed to enjoying one or two wines out of five, since each region would naturally produce some grapes and wines better than others. Put-In-Bay does not grow any of their grapes, but they have clearly mastered their product, turning out top-flight wines. Often, the staff of smaller, more touristy wineries are not as knowledgeable about wine, aside from their knowing the tasting notes of the products they sell. I had a wonderful discussion with the server here, who understood more than enough about tasting, producing, and pairing to listen to me and guide me to wines she knew I would love. And she was right. Her favorite and mine is the American Merlot, though we are not«Merlot people.» I usually lean toward Malbec or Tempranillo, but this Merlot is special. Try it. The store, of course, in the Doller Estate, is beautiful, and they have excellent indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for groups of 1 to 50. I am not familiar as to whether they offer any live music, but that would add even greater appeal.

My cousin celebrated her Bachelorette weekend in Put-In-Bay and we were happy to have stumbled upon(literally, haha) Put-In-Bay Winery! The vineyard faces Lake Erie and is only accessible by ferry. All the wine is SUPERSWEET and probably not high quality vino if that is what you’re after. If you’re looking for a fantastically enjoyable way to spend your afternoon however, this winery is for you! We spent a few hours hanging out on the lawn area at one of their big picnic tables. We each did a flight of Ohio wines and learned a few tidbits about Ohio wine growing and harvesting efforts along Lake Erie. Did you know they’re famous for their iced wine due to the lake effect climate? The owners and staff are very, very friendly and helpful and they put up with a large group of wiiild, rowdy bachelorette women, amen to them!

This place is located closer to the main downtown area than some of the other wineries on the island. We could see the fireworks from here. The Wines were tasty, especially the blackberry. This place is a little more pricey than some of the places we visited, but it had a more upscale feel. The location is very close to lake Erie, and the staff is very kind like everyone in the Lake Erie area.

Put-in-Bay Winery is one of my new favorite spots at Put-in-Bay! It is located at the historic Doller House right downtown and has a wonderful atmosphere. The owners and staff are very, very friendly and helpful; the grounds are beautiful and a nice reprieve from the craziness of downtown. Try relaxing on the porch or front lawn with a bottle of wine, people-watching and enjoying the waterfront views of the mooring harbor.

Beautiful estate that faces Lake Erie and is only accessible by ferry. The wine tour, although a little long winded, was very interesting and heavy on Ohio history. The wines, all pretty sweet, were decent but due to the long winded-ness of the guide, we only got to try 3 of the 5. $ 20 for a winery tour and tasting is a pretty good deal anywhere, and most of the ladies in our group had a great time. I enjoyed seeing the house and ice barn in the back of the property. If you’d like to hang around for a while and enjoy the scenery with your wine, there are a substantial amount of tables out front for people watching.

My mom, sister, and I had a blast here! After many visits to PIB over the years we finally got to visit the«yellow house winery.» We got to Doller House just after 4pm so we didn’t make it in time to take the tour of the house, which runs 10am-4pm each day. But don’t worry, the winery itself doesn’t close until 8pm or after depending on the day. The wine tasting area is very bright and inviting and the staff is super friendly. They sell their own wine as well as a few others, like Pelee Island wines. You can buy a bottle, glass, or flight. Bottles average about $ 15, a full glass is $ 2.50-$ 3.50 depending on what you would like and flights are $ 7 – 9. We did the Put-In-Bay Wines flight for $ 9 which included four generous pours. My favorites were Celebration, a sparkling Moscato, and Chocolato, which reminded me of a booze-infused Yoohoo! I so enjoyed the Chcoloato that I purchased a bottle! We also got the small cheese plate which was plenty of cheese and crackers for three people. We found coupons for free chocolate covered strawberries at the Jet Express, so we had quite a fun tasting party out on one of the tables overlooking the lake. This is a great place to check out when you need a break to relax. I am going to go crack open that chocolate wine now!

The winery shares part of the house and is set up very nicely amongst the Victorian charm of a country estate. In the back is the tasting room and the wines produced are less sweet than the wines at the other winery on the island. You can sit inside in grandma’s parlor or outside on the patio. I had an excellent wine called«Celebration», which was a sparkling moscato and even tried a «Chocolato» wine, which reminded me of a light combination of Godiva and Bailey’s, very playful and fun. They sell cheese and crackers to sample the wine with and you can get flights to try at a reasonable price.

We stopped in at this cute little winery in big victorian house overlooking PIB. They offer tasting flights of both PIB and Pelee island wines. The Put-In-Bay wines were all meh. The Pelee island wines were decent. The best measure is probably that we did not buy any to take home. That said, if you NEED to do wine tasting on the island, this is the place to go. You can take your wine out to the porch and watch the lake(and crazies). A nice change from the craziness of the bars around the corner.

The Doller House is home to the Put-in-Bay Winery. Set on the grounds, and inside of, a gorgeous historic mansion; this was just about the only place I actually liked on the godforsaken island of Put-in-Bay. I’m not at all sure if they make the wines on the grounds or not. I failed to actually look around and just wanted to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. The grounds provide a very quaint atmosphere and a safe haven away from the obnoxious party crowds on the rest of the island. Sadly, it’s so close to the bars that you can hear people yelling«wooooo!» while sitting in their lovely gazebo sipping wine and trying to forget the night before. I’ll admit, I was not a fan of most of the wines they offered because they were heavy on the sweet and I prefer dry. However, the ambiance and the fact that they’re housed in a historic mansion is the reason for the four stars. They didn’t offer any kind of food or snacks but didn’t seem to mind that people brought their own. Wine flights = $ 7 and you choose 3 from a list of about 16. All bottles were under $ 16. Quiet time away from loudmouth drunks = FREE.

This was fun, very inexpensive, and very quiet when we went. If you’re not a big partyer(like me), this is a nice alternative to the bars. Didn’t take too much time and, if I recall, it was completely self-guided. The Doller family was basically the main money family on the island. The house isn’t huge and it was kinda cute.
