They refused to make copies using my 2 blank transponder keys I bought over the Internet for $ 12.99 and insisted I had to use theirs for $ 70 each and that other locksmiths wouldn’t take mine either. Their bogus explanation was that keys online were inferior quality and would wear down their equipment. I went to Reliable Lock and Safe, Inc. in Tacoma and they had no problem using them for no extra charge. You tried to cheat me out of $ 140. I don’t care if it is a common and accepted practice in the industry, it is still dishonest and I would have to assume that it is a reflection of how you practice business as a whole. This was my first time going to your store and it is now the last.

It was ok. Out of the few times I’ve been, it’s been hit or miss. Sometimes, I get help pretty easily others I wander aimlessly looking for a person. The last time, I roamed the paint section looking for help for 10 minutes. I ended up going to the customer service desk to have them page someone. I went back and waited another 10 minutes before I left and went to Home Depot and bought all my paint supplies.

This place is definitely not what it used to be. Had to deal with 3 employees all of which were rude, short(and I don’t mean in height) overall I would have to guess they hate their life or their job. Nobody cared to ask how I was or even smile. I guess it was no smile Monday.

Great staff who know the answers to your questions unlike Lowe’s. You will typically pay more for the same items elsewhere.

As an update since I’ve been here several times since. Prices aren’t the best, so if you’re the thrifty type, check out lowes or home depot. If you’re looking for nice/friendly people who want to help you, this is your place. The prices are really the only thing I can complain about, other than that, this place rocks!

Local company, they have real good employees here, and I would highly recommend them for gardening and other household things you need.

I was looking for a door handle for my RV. I called a bunch of auto part stores, Including The grange who every body said they have everything I need, but no one had the correct one. And the wrong ones were $ 45.00-$ 90.00! I called up and was transferred a few times and the guy who ended up with me said he believed he had what I was looking for and would put his hands on it if I wanted. I said PLEASE… he came back and said he had several different ones and if I brought the old one down he could have a look at it but said since I was having such a hard time I may have an odd ball. So I go down there(they are busy on Saturday!) I show it to the guy and he walks me back and pulls it off the shelf! I am so happy I buy 2 and they were only $ 12.95 ea!!! Plus as busy as they were I was in and out in less then 15 minutes on a Saturday!!!

I’ve been using these guys for all of my gardening needs, and I have to say that they are one of the best around. Love going here on the weekends to get things to keep my garden growing. I gave it 4 stars, because I really don’t like it when people point in a direction to tell you where what you’re looking for is next to. What are you looking for? Oh it’s right over there by the gadgets, and gizmos, whozits, and whatzits, and the thingamabobs! That’s pretty much how I feel. It’s all a new language to me, they can’t expect everyone to know what everything in their store is, so please don’t tell me it’s by something, because I don’t want to make you feel silly by telling you that you are talking gibberish. lol For those who don’t understand all the technical names to things get me on this.

My last experience at McLendon’s was 3 years ago and very unpleasant, however we decided to give it another try today since we were in the area. The selection was sufficient for us to chose the things we needed and the prices were fair. As a pleasant surprise, we were asked if we needed help more than once and we actually got some great input from an employee that overheard our confusion about different fertilizers. Prices were not easy to find and some products were not stocked. A big improvement from last time and we will be back for more.

I’m a fairly recent homeowner and as any homeowner knows, you are gonna need to visit a hardware store. After being snubbed by a place that get’s low and another that get their goods by the depot, someone said try McLendons. I have to admit that I was impressed with how nice most people were there. I had one guy get pissed that I put a product back in the wrong place(unprofessional, but understandable) and once average looking female, that ignored my request for help #getoveryourself. I overlooked is because you are always gonna have a bad apple and have been loyal to McLendons for the past year. I happened to be in Puyallup and decided to stop. This store looked nothing like the Renton location, so I had no idea where to look for what I needed. Someone asked me if I found what I needed and when I advised I was new to the store and had no idea where things were, he had walked me to the 4 – 5 items I was after. Not only that, he was happy to do it. The service was bananas, I don’t know if I have ever shopped anywhere were people were more pleasant and eager to assist. Refreshing, service is a lost skill in the modern market.

A great place to shop for small home improvement projects. Service has been hit or miss for me. If I need help I either find it right away or it takes a while for me to find someone. They do have a decent selection of quite a few things. It’s a great alternative to the big box home improvement stores. It’s also nice to support a local store. Bottom line: They aren’t going to be the cheapest or have the best selection, but they may just be the most convenient and have just what you need.

If you want the cheapest prices, maybe go to Lowes. If you want people who can help you and get great quality go to McLendons! I hate going to Lowes and asking an 17 year old for help and they have to bring in 3 more people to collectively help you. and that’s just for making keys. McLendons has employees who know what they are talking about. The only downside is sometimes it can be real tough to get someone to help you. Since they are very thorough, they spend a lot of time with customers at times leaving some to wait for help, worth it though! I go here for the experience of the employees, and the great conversations I have with the old timers around the free coffee stand! I love coming here for supplies for all things for my home. Thank you McLendons for being about the people!
