I ordered some steaks and a pizza to go as The Raven’s Nest is on the way to a nearby lake. When calling ahead, I tried to get a few items listed on their website but seemed to surprise the bartender when I asked if the chicken sandwich was grilled or fried. I was told this was not a menu item and is only available as a special when they have it. The same with the fish sandwich which is also on the website. The bartender said it would take about ½ hour to prepare the food which consisted of two cheese-steaks, one burger, and one pizza. Upon arriving 20 minutes later, I was impressed with a friendly atmosphere and a very nice view of the back garden through a wall of windows. I also was told the food would be another 10 minutes(they weren’t joking about 30 minutes to prepare the order) and witnessed my pizza entering the oven. I also noticed that the special on the chalkboard was a grilled chicken sandwich??! The food took another 15 minutes or so and my pizza slipped out of the box and somehow ended up in the trashcan. The bartender was very apologetic and offered to make another but my family was in the car and I could not wait any longer. There were nine people in the bar. The bartender was responsible for these customers and making my order along with any other order being requested. She was overwhelmed as she appeared to be alone and was juggling quite a bit. Upon leaving, I walked past the owner outside as he casually watered plants instead of assisting behind the bar. The food — after a long wait, the chicken cheese-steak was very good and served on a tasted roll they held its texture. The pizza steak was also very good and was shared by multiple people who also enjoyed it. The burger was standard fair and a bit dry. Overall, I would order again but allow a lot more time for pickup. The prices are very reasonable.

Great local place with lots of history. Liquor license is from the 1700’s! Food is good and cooked right there behind the bar. Remember to take cash-they do not take any plastic and you must be 21 to enter. The bar pizza and cheesesteaks were great, and prices are very reasonable.
