Cardio Barre – Quarry Bend

I tried this because of the groupon and some friends who talked me into giving it a try. It’s truly one of the most fun workouts I’ve done — and great for my posture, balance and core. My legs look and feel stronger too. I keep going on a regular basis because it’s one of those workouts I look forward to, even at 6am. :) And I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that my «fun» workout has shown benefits in other sports that I do. Really happy to have such a nice studio with fun, encouraging and upbeat instructors so close by.

This place gives me daydreams of being a real ballerina. I’ve been here three times now and each time has been a great experience. The instructors are fun and oh so graceful. Each workout is an hour long but boy does the time fly. No one is condescending even as my limbs are flailing awkwardly all over the place.

I found this place through groupon and I couldn’t be happier. The instructors are friendly and intense, this class kicks your butt but totally leaves you wanting more. I strongly recommend taking the intro class twice before diving into the beginner’s classes.

Finally a great barre class with an awesome playlist. I live in NYC, travel a lot, and am always looking for a good fitness class. For the most part what I find outside of NYC has been disappointing. Either the classes are too easy, improperly supervised, and/​or the playlist stinks.
Cardio barre was fun! It was superFast paced and the instructor knew what current music was. Too often music wise I get an 80s playlist or something not terribly inspiring. (Come on can’t we subscribe to spotify?). I also introduced myself to the instructor and she was very focused on providing corrections when I didn’t know what I was doing.
If you’re looking for a fun, barre type class, cardio barre is one of the best of the bunch.
Ps if you are worried about cleanliness wear toe sox. The grippy things. Come on! I always do that.

I started off loving Cardio Barre I felt like they offer a great product. Then after a month of attending their classes regularly I developed athlete’s foot. I for a fact know this is where I contracted it. Being that I have not been in a hotel, swimming pool, any other gym or even another shower besides my own. No one else in my family has contracted this either, so I am the only one. I have very painful blisters all over my feet and have spent a lot of money trying to cure it. Not wanting to have anyone else go through this same experience I called to let them know. Speaking with one of the owners Pam, she told me «I did not contract it there, and Honey do your research.» While fungus cannot thrive in carpet you can still contract it in the area. there policy is you take your shoes off before stepping on the carpet and with hundreds of people sweating in the same carpet over and over and walking on the hard wood floor all together it is a perfect place to contract it. Pam was extremely rude, humiliating, condescending, unapologetic and has no concern for the health and welfare of her clients. This is a company that is very expensive and has a good product but completely lacks in customer service and concern for the people that support their business. Save your money and attend another barre class that has policies in place to help keep you clean and safe. Other barre classes do require socks as should this place. They should have some concern for their clients.

Love Cardio Barre! I bought the Groupon, which included 10 classes. I’ve gone to quite a few now, and I love the workout that I get here! I’ve been to a few different instructors, all who are positive and friendly. They focus on doing this for wellness, happiness, and fun, and never tell you that you aren’t good enough – I feel comfortable in the class. The workouts are intense and once you get the hang of the moves you can push yourself further. The music played during class consists of awesome EDM mixes that pump you up! If you’re a first-​timer, I definitely suggest going to the intro class one or two times before moving into the beginner classes. I will continue to go to Cardio Barre for my workouts!

When I heard that Cardio Barre was opening in Quarry Bend, I was excited. Super excited. During their construction, I happened to end up on a giant fitness kick, mostly based on kickboxing, personal training with a guy who trains and corners MMA fighters, and general bad-​assery. By the time Cardio Barre opened, I had built a ton of muscle, strength, endurance, all of the things you work out hard in order to get. The night before I tried Cardio Barre for the first time, this is what I told my trainer:
«Tomorrow I’m going to check it this Cardio Barre place. It’ll probably feel like wuss yoga.»
I can admit when I’m wrong. I was wrong. This is a legit workout. It burned as much as my normal stuff but in a different way. I could feel my muscles moving in ways that my regular workouts don’t make them move, and I could feel my abs, butt, and thighs working the way I feel like I want them to in order to look the way I want them to look. There’s a huge balance and flexibility component to the Barre workouts that I feel is the missing link for me, so of course I’m hooked and it will be at least a once a week thing in my world.
You don’t have to buy a membership! You can pay for a single class, or a pack of classes which saves you some money, and then go when you feel like it. I have multiple gym memberships (that I DO use) so for me, their system is perfect, and I think it’s pretty smart for people who don’t have other memberships too, because you just pay as you go. Not that a commitment here would be bad, it only took one class for me to figure out that I need Cardio Barre in my life, like woah.
They offer intro, beginner, and advanced classes so there is no reason to feel like you’re going to be thrown in with a bunch of long, lean ballerina types, and guys go too! Husbands are there with their wives, and some by themselves. Seriously, it’s for everybody.
The vibe here is great. The gals who own it are present, super friendly, adorable, and often sweaty from their own workouts. They are sisters and they’ve done a great job of making a place where everyone of all fitness levels can feel welcome and encouraged, and the instructors are really good about answering questions and helping with form.
I also want to make sure to point out that they have a child care room. This isn’t something that I need, but I know that lack of being able to tow my kid along when she was younger was a huge factor to me working out so I think it’s important to note. I don’t think I’ve ever been to another small specialized studio that offers that, and it is kind of amazing. I feel like it’s another proof that thhe people here truly care about their clients and want to help us all get fit and have fun.
