Having eaten at Pizza Chef before(pizza is ok) I decided I would order a small pizza for dinner the other night. The young lady told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and they hadn’t even started to make it. She couldn’t find the ticket at first but then found it misplaced over at the preparers table. Despite that this was their screw-up, all she did was ask me to wait, that they would put the pizza in then. No offer of a free soda, or even a cup of water while I waited. This is what you get from 20 somethings who don’t have a clue about running a business and customer service.

Excellent pizza. we wanted a quick place to stop and chose pizza chef. It turned out to be a great choice. Cold beer and sausage &mushroom pizza. Had all kinds of choices in pizza.10″ or 14″ all varieties as we’ll as hot subs.dinners. Don’t be afraid to stop.

Ate here after hiking on the Queechee Gorge Trails. This place needs more ventilation and better air conditioning… it was hotter in there than it was outside — we can feel the heat from the pizza cooking in the oven. At least there was a fan in the eating area, which my party hogged up. Pizza was pretty basic — pepperoni with mushroom, which you can’t really mess up. Comes out hot and fresh! A good meal after the hike.

My wife is from Vermont, and this location is quite close to her house. She has been visiting here for a decade or more, but today’s visit was my first time in for something to eat. First thing I noticed was they have several beers on tap. Something like 10 – 12 different beers to choose from. But since I don’t like my wife’s driving, I opted not to drink on this stop. :-) The Setup: Pretty casual in here, with plenty of space, and a TV playing the ESPN Bowl Games. They’ve also got several ‘old style’ video games in here as well. Pinball machines and arcade games from the ’80’s era. Therefore, if you have kids, great place to stop in and let them play around a little bit. The Pizza: We ordered up a Vegetarian(for one of my sons who has now been a Vegetarian for — 2 days, wonder how long that kick lasts, bwahah!) And also a pizza with everything(for me). The vegetarian pizza was not greasy and very tasty actually, and the pizza with everything was greasier, but that is the way I would expect a pizza with a lot of meat and cheese toppings to be. Very good pizza, cooked right, and tasty. Summing it up: Nice little place to stop in with the kids(for video games), or without the kids(for a beer). And great pizza. Next time I visit VT, we’ll be stopping in here again.

Stopped here after a trip to the Gorge. A standard pizza joint: pizza, beer, video games. We didn’t expect much, but the pizza was surprisingly tasty. It passed the taste test from our picky eater kids. We’re from NY, we eat a lot of pizza, not every one of our kids agree on pizza. They all liked this pizza. Deeper-dish crust, saucy, cheesy. A crowd pleaser for our whole family(ages 2,5 and 7). Plenty of seating. Standard fare, don’t expect much more than fresh standard ingredients. I was glad to see the craft beers on tap and in bottles/cans. A bonus: great video games running on a quarter each. They have Double Dragon!

Don’t waste your time, unless it’s a hunger emergency. I ordered some chicken fingers and fries(hard to mess up). The guy who took my order was friendly, although, when I asked if they did cheese fries he seemed confused and said«no, we just do regular fries». Throwing some shredded cheese on top of some fries as it goes through the oven is hard, I understand. It took way too long for my order to come out. After a decent amount of time I went up front to ask about my order, only to see it’d been sitting out for a while. Who knows when I would have been notified it was ready if I hadn’t gone up. The guy who took my order was out in the dining area shooting the shit and behind the counter was a ghost town(as was the place itself and now I know why). The fries tasted old(and like they’d been sitting out for a while) and the chicken fingers were still pink inside, flimsy and rubbery — terrible actually. If I get sick I’ll be calling the Dept of Health stat. It’s too bad — this place could have potential, it’s in a good location and the menu is full of good house of pizza type foods that should be hard to mess up. Disappointing. I won’t be back. You’re better off grabbing some food at the local gas station market, seriously.

Basic local pizza place. Had a Greek salad that was just ok. But it has been a long day and I am exhausted, Staff was very helpful and my order was up quickly.

Nice dinner with the fam. Pizza is OK to good; and the service was friendly but sort of serve yourself. Beers on tap were nice local brews. Liked it.

Stopped here for lunch when simon pearce was packed and we were starving. Came in with decent expectations given the Unilocal reviews. Unfortunately, what we found was a mediocre pizza joint with pizza that lacked flavor, was too chewy, and overall just not up to snuff. Add to it that the table were not clean and it was definitely a disappointing lunch.

After a ridiculously long car ride up to Woodstock on a Friday afternoon in the summer, the last thing we wanted to do after we set up camp at the nearby Quechee State Forest, was cook dinner. It was getting dark and we were too hungry to wait too long to eat. So, we opted for Pizza chef right outside of the park. Expectation were low for a pizza joint in VT, and needless to say, they were far exceeded. We split a pizza with mushrooms and artichoke hearts and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t NY style pizza and it wasn’t Greek style pizza. It was thicker crust than NY and far less greasy than Greek. Ingredients tasted fresh and the place was clean, large and bright. Clearly not a destination spot but definitely a great choice for us at the time.

We were driving up 89 when the hunger pangs hit, hopped off at exit 1 and followed the blue signs directing us toward food. After driving down route 4 for what seemed an eternity(3.1 miles to be exact), we stumbled upon Pizza Chef, looked at the unassuming exterior, shrugged our shoulders and hoped for the best. We ordered a cheese pizza and a few sodas and were pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was. This is a great place to stop if you’re on the road. The pizza was solid, the bathrooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. Wins all around.

We picked up a cheese and a Veggie pizzas from here while visiting during fall and loved the Pizzas. They were a bit greasy but quite tasty. I wouldn’t recommend going regularly but quite decent pizzas. The looks of the place is not very impressive but food exceeded our expectations.

Only had grinders(subs, hoagies… whatever you want to call them) and they were good. Their sauce is good. That’s really all I have to say!
