Their poor customer service is what kills them! The first time I road this bus to the city, it was great. However, the bus ride home was a nightmare. For starters, the bus was 28 minutes late and the website didn’t say what side of the street to wait on so I asked a local. When the bus finally arrived, I saw the driver when he pulled up and I signaled him to wait for me as I was told to wait on the wrong side. The driver yelled out and told me he wouldn’t wait for me to cross because he was late and following schedule but I managed to cross the street before his departure, but the driver refused to open his doors and let me on and he drove off. I despise the 7bus along with many other stony brook students. They don’t deserve to be on our campus.

Another option for travel to Stony Brook from Manhattan. Tickets can be a little cheaper than the LIRR. Clean and nice buses. Not always on time. Unfortunately tickets can only be used for the time purchased. All sales final and they won’t give credit if you have to change your plans. I’ve lost enough money because of their lack of flexibility, so in the end it may be cheaper for me to stick with LIRR. Too bad.

Lower prices than taking the LIRR if you need to travel between Manhattan and Long Island. HOWEVER the excessive lateness makes it not worth it. I waited multiple times between 30 minutes to over an hour at Rego Park and the excuse I get every time I call is «traffic». I don’t believe it but nevertheless if there is traffic the least they could do is contact the customers. No apologies from the driver when they finally arrive after an hour of my time is wasted. Get your act together 7bus.
