Hit the spot just what was needed! Got to have the rice pudding to cap off a great lunch!

I worked here and let me say this place is so unsanitary none of the employees were ever required to wash their hands when coming into work or after the bathroom and they usually didnt. The dishes were never properly washed and dryed off with a dirty rag the floor and everything behind the counter was dirty with food and trash all over the place, not only was never anything cooked well but it was cheap qaulity food from costco and the owner pano paid his workers under minimum wage and left 1 person and the cook to run the entire establishment by them selves because he was too cheap to employ the proper amount of people dont come here food is cheap greasy, place is gross and service is always slow because there arent enough people working

Foodoni is a solid place to eat lunch or dinner. The food is good; I especially like the ceasar salad, rice pudding, sweet potato fries, and the buffalo chicken wrap. They also serve beer. The only cons are the place is on the small side, the service is a little slow and the prices are a little high for standard American/Greek food. Additionally, it always seems like people are talking extra loud in there, maybe it’s the acoustics or the small space but wow! Overall, good place to sit and eat or get take out. In the summer, they have outside seating, which is nice.

The Chicken kebabs with salad and lemon potatoes are amazing. Nice little café on 23rd ave with good outdoor seating.

So I have to write another negative review of this place — sorry guys. I was so excited when this place moved in so unbelievably close to our apartment. I started going right away and thought the prices were amazing at first($ 4 for a personal cheese pizza? It’s a frozen pizza but still — it was pretty good!) But like everyone else I noted the terrible service. They seem to staff it with their friend’s kids or their nieces and nephews and not people who know how to work in a restaurant. I’ve never gotten an order right; at least twice I’ve ordered an appetizer and gotten it after the entrée was done because I reminded the order taker I ordered it. It’s sort of set up oddly too; orders are taken at the counter, you sit, eat, then go to the counter again to pay. Multiple times I’ve asked to pay right after ordering and the order taker refused as if I’d be inconvenienced by paying now. «No, don’t worry about it, have a seat!» Then I’ll get up to leave and forget I have to pay and the surly young punk behind the counter gives me the stink eye like I was trying to rob them. And the food is never that great. Yesterday I ordered Greek meatballs over rice pilaf; what came were four tiny meatballs that had no Mediterranean flavor to them, slathered in marinara sauce over very bland rice. This is apparently how it’s supposed to be so said the owner so I ate it and it’ll have to be my last meal there. On the plus side the place is clean and new and the bathroom is great. I’ve tried and tried to like it but it’s not ready for a discerning crowd yet.

Honestly I really like the food here, but delivery sucks. I’ve ordered from here 3 times total. The first 2 were pretty good experiences, but this last one was a disaster. I waited almost 2 hours for my food, and when I called an hour after waiting the guy on the phone told me it would be 15 – 20 minutes. Then I called him again after a half an hour when it still wasn’t here, and he said it would be here any minute. It got here an hour and 45 minutes total, luke warm. If it is so difficult to deliver here, then don’t offer the service.

OK seriously, i found this place through grubhub, thinking it’d be reasonable at least. to start off I had to call about 3 times before i got through to them, [it was busy, then i was on hold for at least 10 min]. NEXT the delivery took SOLONGTOCOME! I live on 35th st btwn 23rd& ____… needless to say im 5 minutes away from them and the food took over 30 min to come which is unacceptable. The food was COLD!!! and very very mediocre, the pizza was cold & gross, the cheese fries were not fresh, & the wings were poor. My friend ordered a wrap which she said was decent, but it was supposed to come with an order of fries and it didn’t…which we paid for but did not receive. NEVERAGAIN. This place is HORRID.

Have been a customer of foodoni since it opened and I must say, the quality has gone downhill. They used to serve a great doner and it was quite a generous one, but now, it’s skimpy skimpy skimpy. When you order a delivery, it’s really a crap shoot. I ordered a doner with X-ray tzatziki and got a double scoop of mayo… nasty!!! The service is absolutely horrible! I don’t know who these staff members are, but it is apparent that they truly don’t give a shit!!! No one should wait 30 minutes for a cappuccino, and that didn’t happen once, it happens always. I must say that the only thing I enjoy about this place is the walk to get there, but I believe that I will be going the extra 2 blocks and go to zorbas. They also need to shorten that ridiculous menu of theirs. Stick to souvlaki and gyros because they aren’t consistent with that, so I can imagine how shitty the fettuccini carbonara is. And what the fuck is the special foodoni sauce. What is solo special about mayo with some spices. Today we went for a quick(not), cheap bite because they are so close, and my friend ran home and almost crapped himself. Foodoni get your act together!!! Can you believe they opened another one in Astoria? If you want a good doner, order from pita pan, souvlaki from zorbas. Stay away from this place, it is toxic trash. Btw, their breakfast sucks as well!!! I be never had a burnt omelette, but apparently they have the patent on that as well!

Like a few other folks who live nearby, I really want to like this place but I can’t. The staff have always been very pleasant and helpful to me, so no problems there. The trouble is the food, it’s just not good. I imagine this place has a specialty dish or two that they do really well, and that might win me over, but I haven’t hit on that dish yet, and I think I’m gonna stop trying. Everything I’ve eaten from here has been disappointing. And what’s with that name? «Foodoni»?

Decent meatballs, they do substitute salads for rice, which is nice. Prices are moderate. I’ll probably try it again. I like the design of their menu boards — some good options.

Foodoni is my go-to place for everything. My favorite things from there are the pork and chicken souvlaki, its so fresh! I have many get togethers at my place, where everyone craves something different, when we order, we order from Foodoni. Everyone has raved about their teriyaki wings, bbq wings, veggies burgers, burgers, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, basically everything! It’s never a disappointment when we order from Foodoni. Also went here for lunch yesterday, it was so nice to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the festivities. Will continue to order from here.

I have now had Foodoni cater my family’s last 3 events and I can honestly say that the people at each party enjoyed the food each time. The food always comes hot and they provide you with gravity trays and sternos to keep them that way throughout your function. Prices are about consistent with the excellent food you are getting. Their cheese and spinach pies are delicious and their chicken avgolemono soup is the best I have had besides my own mother’s!!! I definitely recommend them for your next small gathering.

It took me a few visits to realize how much I liked this place. The staff is friendly and I really like the fries in the pita thing they do. I also like the pork souvlaki. The foodoni sauce is a nice alternative to tzatziki for souvlaki’s. The lemon potatoes are a great side. I think the prices are not too bad for fresh grilled chicken or pork.

Aw I’m bummed there are a couple negative reviews on here. Granted, I’ve only ordered the Chicken Souvlaki plate, but every time — and that’s multiple times — it’s been delicious. I think it’s the best souvlaki I’ve had in Astoria, and when I get a craving for it I go out of the way for Foodoni’s. I also think it’s a fair price, especially since there’s enough food to share it with my boyfriend. The atmosphere does leave something to be desired… I never sit down to eat, always take it to go.

I keep wanting to give Foodoni the benefit of the doubt. I keep wanting to give them another try, thinking«Maybe this time will be different…» But each time I go back, I’m left feeling regretful and wishing I had just gone somewhere else. Their food is over-priced and their cashiers always seem confused about life. Of the times I’ve been there, I have not had an experience without flaws. The most notable of which was the one time I had delivery. Because I live only four blocks away, I typically just walk there, but one day I was really just not feeling well and needed the comfort of delivery. However, they delivered one wrong item and forgot another, and it took them TWOHOURS to deliver the correct delivery – to FOURBLOCKSAWAY! I kept calling them every fifteen minutes after the first forty-five minutes, and each time I was told«The delivery boy just left.» Another time, I called in advance to pick-up a pizza – which are usually pretty tasty and for a reasonable price. However, despite giving them a fifteen-minute head-start, I had to wait another twenty minutes for them to finish it… only to discover when I got home, that the center of the pizza was still frozen. And today’s experience was the last straw for me. All I wanted was a toasted bagel with cream cheese. How could they possibly screw that up, right? Well, apparently«toasted» = «microwaved» to them, so that my bagel was so chewy it was like eating wet cardboard. In all, I have given them too many opportunities to show me good service and food, but they can never get it right. I will never go back.

First review. I had to add this place simply because I felt so strongly about it. First the restaurant. This is somewhere between a Greek Deli and a diner. It’s small, but with two full walls made of glass and being on a corner with a nice wide sidewalk, it is actually very inviting and comfortable. Compare to the rest of the neighborhood, it is cheaper than most of the restaurants selling similar fare. Sadly the low prices reflect the quality of the food. Lets just say that the folks who made the menu at foodoni should try visiting nearby Othello Deli and Zorbas, for an idea of what many of the items on their menu should, at least, taste like. My biggest issue is that several times I’ve ordered typical greek dishes that are supposed to be prepared a certain way, only to find them made with the wrong sauces or ingredients. It’s too bad, as this place is really a nice neighborhood place and if the food wasn’t so bad I would love to hang out here. Also the young people man the phones and the register seem to be more interested on shooting the bull with each other than actually taking care of customers. I called once to place an order and was placed on hold. the problem is that they young man who put me on hold, sounded like he was on his cell gossiping about girls with a buddy. he didn’t hang up my line and I could hear him boasting about his date’s anatomy and his supposed prowess. Not a good way to run a business. If you want to hang out with your computer and not be bothered. foodoni will do that. if you want to eat, spend the extra $ 0.50 and walk a down the street to either Zorba’s or Othello.

My fiancé and I have been here several times and also ordered out from here. We have not been disappointed! The food is always fresh. Love the chicken parmesean panini and the chicken gyro!
