I’m a parent of three small children(ages 3, 5, and 8) so for all you parents that have to play zone defense, this review is for you(especially if it’s 3-on-1 like I have it very often!). Raymond O’Connor’s greatest asset is a fenced-in playground with only one exit. When you have to watch more than one kid, this is a life-saver. In fact, why aren’t all playgrounds built this way? Only one exit a kid could possibly wander out of makes it much simpler to watch over a group. The park also doesn’t get overly crowded, making it even easier to keep track of all the crazies. If I had to not-pick, one thing this playground lacks are closing doors to the two swing areas. Take your eye off a youngster who hasn’t yet learned the value of fear(i.e. my 3yo boy), and the kid might run right into the front or backswing of a teen or tween killing some time on the swings. Back to the positive: there is ample street parking on the side street closest to the playground, making it very convenient if you have to drive. A sprinkler helps entertain the little ones during the warmer months, while the numerous trees surrounding the area provide shade and relief from the sun. If you have older kids or are looking to play a bit yourself, the park has a small soccer field and also some basketball courts. Overall, this is my go-to park when I have the kids to myself.
