Had some coconut fried icecream at the Astoria night market and liked it. Just that the icecream was very hard and difficult to break through with a plastic spoon. Still yummy though, loved the Panko breading!

It was really good. Taste kind of like a zepolli. Def a must try. Cost $ 6 for one large scoop. Breaded with flour and planko bread crumbs

The concept of frying shit must have been a magical process for someone to come up with. I imagine in the early days they were frying things that made sense: breaded meats, unbreaded meats and heck maybe even vegetables. At some point people went off the rails and thought it might be cool to fry something that shouldn’t be possible to fry in theory, like… Ice Cream. That’s what you’ll find at Sam’s Fried Ice Cream. The crust is a batter of either oreo chips or what looks like Krispie Kreme? You can pick from strawberry, green tea, vanilla and chocolate. I had the green tea and it was indeed delicious. What’s most surprising is that the outer crust was fried to a good crisp while the ice cream inside was still a solid frozen chunk. I was really expecting it to be at least slightly gooey and sort of like a lava cake of sorts but it wasn’t. Cool snack! Def try it if you see them somewhere.

The first time I had Sam’s Fried Ice Cream was at the Atlantic Antic street fair back in 2014 and I have to say this is by far THEBEST fried ice cream I’ve ever had. My husband and I happen to come across Sam’s Fried Ice Cream stand at the Atlantic Antic and decided to try it. I don’t know how they do it, but Sam’s is the only fried ice cream that does not melt, is crispy, but not greasy at all! And the batter is just as good!!! As soon as they remove the ice cream from the deep fryer the ice cream ball is still frozen and the batter is not soggy at all. SIMPLYAMAZING!!! You best believe at this year’s Atlantic Antic we made sure we walked up and down Atlantic Avenue until we found Sam’s stand and sure enough we did!!! And did we get our fried ice cream… YOUBETCHA!!! You need to open up stores in every borough!!! That’s delicious and heavenly your fried ice cream is… I know you guys said you were going to open a location in Park Slope, but we need a location in downtown Brooklyn, preferably around the Hoyt/Schemerhon/Fulton St. area… hint, hint, wink wink!

What could be more awesome than ice cream? Ice cream covered in oreos, fried to a crisp. Once you take a bite, you experience the semiwarm batter and surprisingly grainy batter. Then the ice cream core’s not all too different from most brands but it really is great with the crunch the oreo cover brings.

While checking the vendors of fried everything at the San Gennaro festival I came across Sam’s fried ice cream. All I can say is it’s unlike anything I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious ! I had the green tea ice cream it’s had a crispy warm crust and a cold, semi soft ice cream! It was the perfect treat to satisfy any sweet tooth or fried food craving! Keep up the good work guys I will be back for more and I will make sure to tell everyone I know, how delicious your ice creams are !!!

Was so happy to see their stand during the 6th avenue street fair! I specifically went to find them and so happy I did! This is easily the best fried ice cream I’ve had and I have had many over the years! The ice cream is very creamy with the perfect donut crust. Tried both the vanilla and green tea!

Glad that it’s now possible to find them in Manhattan occasionally! Hopefully soon in Brooklyn. Check their website for street fairs/markets they go to, although it seems they are most often at LIC Flea. My friend and I split the fried green tea ice cream in Oreo crust. We loved that it was sweet but not overly so, and the nice crunchy crust added a counterpoint to the soft ice cream. It’s also possible to get just the ice cream by itself, with toppings, but c’mon… why would you?!

Got their green tea fried ice cream at La Marqueta. Delicious! Not sure what the crispy stuff is but it good! Not greasy at all and the green tea ice cream is a good green tea ice cream. Perfect for a summer day!

Um, what. I just possibly had the best green tea ice cream in a long time, if not ever, on a whim at LIC Food and Flea. Sunday was a hazy, late-summer day, and after relishing the brisket sandwich from Butcher Bar by the water, the cityscape shimmering in the background, I was craving a Thai iced tea. Inexplicably(as is often the case), my brain called an audible on itself and instead veered towards the Sam’s Fried Ice Cream. If only all of my inexplicable, last-minute switch ups and decision making yielded such fantastic results. The shade of green, darker than most green tea ice creams I’ve come across(and much more so than the Chinatown Ice Cream factory version, which is very weakly flavored), was already promising. No toppings(limited selection of graham cracker, Oreo, or M&Ms seemed unnecessary to enhance the experience), not fried. Just the plain ice cream. I was simply blown away by the pure matcha flavor, just the right amount of sweetness for ice cream without overpowering. The texture was nice, not too soft and held up over nearly 10 blocks to the train station. I phased in and out of conversation with my walking companions, sometimes barely registering what they were saying, this amazing ice cream commanded my full attention. The small size at $ 4 provided 3 generous scoops in a cup, more than enough to savor and share, but I found myself conveniently forgetting to offer a taste. If I return to LIC Food and Flea, it will be for this green tea ice cream.

This has to be the best fried ice cream on earth, yes I said it on earth. Sam doesn’t have an actual location but check out his website to locate him at your local food festival or market(ie LIC Food and Flea)

As soon as we walked into the Queens Night Market, I saw this stand and decided we were having dessert first. It was a tough choice between the fried green tea or red bean, but we chose the green tea. It was a perfect choice. After you order, they pull out little frozen balls of ice cream, batter it, and deep fry it. This is so much tastier than the fried ice cream you get at sushi joints. The warm crispy shell is a great contrast to the still frozen ball of ice cream. Also, the green tea ice cream tasted different from other green tea ice cream. It’s not too sweet and the tea flavors actually come through.

A generous 4, so I really don’t understand the 5s. Was their first customer at the first Flushing Night Out and they were already stressed and getting angry with each other. Red bean was a bit overfrozen, so the experience was pretty much shot before it started.

I really love the fried ice cream. For me this place was the first I ever tried of the dessert dish. I went to the LIC stand to try it out and fell in love. It has a great refreshing feel with the ice cream flavors with the cakey fried exterior. It seems like a unique creation but one that is pretty well known in the asian community. My favorite is the green tea ice cream with oreo. I am excited to try their red bean flavor. They have great choices such as pistachio and it was pretty delicious. They also let you choose what toppings for the fried exterior such as oreo and the added powder sugar is a nice touch. The staff behind the stands have been nothing but friendly and really promote the dessert! I have not been disappointed with the dessert and would totally recommend people to try it! The price is reasonable to me because this stands need to be able to make good profit so for né 5 to 6 dollars is not much. All my friends who have tried it love it!

Absolutely scrumptious!!! The bf and I tried it out at the international food market in queens. I’ve had my fair share of fried ice cream and this place is the best so far. It comes with The perfect amount of batter and their strawberry ice cream has real strawberries in them! :) Would love to get some more next time :)!!!

I seriously hope this guy opens up a store dedicated to selling fried ice cream and only fried ice cream! My fiancée and I love Sam’s Fried Ice Cream, it’s delicious and inexpensive. it’s a priority to get there before a huge line forms, however that shouldn’t discourage you from getting in line because it’s well worth the wait for one of those delicious balls of fried ice cream, after tasting them i was compelled to throw a molotov cocktail inside a Ben and Jerry’s just so Sam can take that space to set up shop :) haha lol .But in all seriousness, it’s simple yet effective. 2-thumbs up for Sam’s Fried Ice Cream. When you guys open up a permanent shop surely i’ll be in before the day is out!

I was in NYC for the 9 Man Chinese Volleyball Tournament and I was lucky to get to try Sam’s Fried Ice-Cream! I was surprised to see a farmers/flea market right next door to the tournament at Seward Park in the heart of Chinatown. I’m assuming Sam was one of the 2 guys helping me and and both of them were friendly and helpful. I was with my niece and nephew and they were kind enough to walk them through the process. My niece and nephew were super excited to watch their fried ice cream come to life haha. Sam and the other guy were nice to warn them about the potential boiling oil spatter and I appreciated that. They took the frozen ice cream already covered with frozen batter, dropped it into a flour powder, then an egg mixture, and then funnel cake powder, and deep fried it. They put it in a cup and sprinkled powdered sugar on top. I ordered green tea for myself and chocolate and vanilla for my niece and nephew. It was good! Super crispy on the outside and ice cream goodness on the inside. The ice cream was hard at first and then softened up pretty quick. It was very tasty to try. After eating it for awhile though, the sweetness from the powdered sugar and funnel cake was overpowering the green tea. I was surprised and happy the outside stayed crispy during the whole time I ate my ice cream! It was a nice treat to try and for $ 5 each, I would definitely get it again! :)
