FYI: This review is from a young female who just started taking boxing classes there! The short review: was a bit unsure at first but decided to give it a shot considering the classes are only $ 10 each and unlimited with a $ 50 monthly membership. There’s classes at least 3 days a week, including evenings and Saturdays. Was extremely pleasantly surprised. All the men there were extremely respectful and helpful and I look forward to going back. The workout was tough but women from all ages and levels were there and everyone was extremely nice AND you get to be trained by a boxing champion – couldn’t get any better! P. S. It’s a 5 min walk from the Quincy Center T, which is great if you don’t like to drive! The longer review: I had gone online to check out reviews and didn’t see any so went to see the place in person the day before. I went in and there wasn’t a single female there but only young men boxing. This was extremely intimidating! I have to say though that every single one of them just kept doing his thing, I didn’t feel intimidated at all being there but I am also very conservative so felt a bit uneasy. Nonetheless, considering how extremely cheap it is to go there, practically free, and have a boxing champion to be your trainer, I decided to go to the women’s class the next day and give it a shot. I have never done boxing before, ever! When I went in, there were a whole bunch of other women as well, from all ages and backgrounds and skill levels, lots of beginners like me as well. While the trainer was tough, as long as he saw you trying, you could go at your own pace! He was extremely skillful! Let’s make it clear: I thought I was going to pass out the first 15 minutes BUT stick to it, that’s the worst part, after that it gets much better! Oh yeah… and all those intimidating boxing guys from the day before? Yes, they are all there BUT not a single one of them was«checking out» any of the women, and yes there were plenty of decent looking girls. They were not only extremely respectful and just kept their eyes to themselves BUT halfway through, we got one-on-one help from all of these guys. And again they were very knowledgeable and helpful and respectful, it felt like a little close knit family of all backgrounds! P. S. For those of you that don’t know, this gym is really about giving back to the community and kids! I feel VERY happy to be coming here. After the workout, I felt SO much more confident, and better and gained quite a few boxing skills, even though it was the first day. I look forward to coming here as often as I possibly can!!!
