I called Walid just as he was closing. He told me he is moving back to Cambridge. Stay tuned.

The food is just great. I experienced this restaurant for the first time a few days ago and this is by far the best Middle Eastern food I have found since moving down from Montréal. Fresh food and you know it’s good when you’re not talking to your lunch date but just busy eating your food. The only caveat is that it is cash only. Get it soon though, from what I understand, the restaurant is closing this location in October and they are trying to find a new place but have not as of yet.

Get it while you still can. Moussaka is delicious! But the owner might have to close at the end of October 2015 due to unfavorable business rental terms.

As good as it gets. The food here is absolutely amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I ordered the combination plate — delicious! Can’t go wrong. CASHONLY!!!

This place is great… The best chicken shawarma I’ve had. We also tried the some other chicken dish(marinated in a mild curry) and the falafel wrap, all of which were very good. I would rank Sepal ahead of the Falafel King. Am sorry to hear they might be moving… Hopefully they stay in the area. I would definitely add this place to my regular rotation of sandwich and takeout places.

The store front is small and easy to drive by, but stopping in is worth it. The owner, Walid, is very nice and always friendly. He even once offered free food to a man because they are cash only and the atm is across a busy street. The food is always made to order. The falafel sandwich is delicious and vegan. All the sides and soups are vegan. Nice little place to get good food in quincy.

I have been wanting to try this place for a few weeks. I finally did. Very small corner restaurant. I am sure it is mostly takeout. This place is cash only but that is good with me. I was a little surprised the price was a little higher then I had seen earlier. I will only review what I had today. I also made another order for lunch tomorrow. The owner was very nice and friendly. I came in for stuffed grape leaves with meat. My mother use to make them and it had been tough for me to find any I liked. These grape leaves were so yummy! My only wish is that they were sold as a side. If they were I would be there a couple of times a week for sure. The rice was tasty but there was too much. The salad was really good. The beans were excellent. Well done but really would like grape leaves as a side. My only complaint :)

When I first walked into this place I was so excited. Food came out hot and tasty. I recommended to many of my friends. The only negative I have is that the price went up recently and the portions stayed the same. That’ll probably prevent me from coming back here to pick up now. Mostly rice beans salad and probably 6 – 7 ounces of chicken. I usually get the chicken sumac which is great, but not for an extra 1.50 $ and that size of a portion

A true neighborhood gem. Home cooked and delicious at very reasonable prices. I’ve been twice so far, the falafel plate was delicious. The falafel is not dry at all and the fattoush salad is such a nice pairing The second time I had the moussaka plate which was to die for!!! I can’t wait to go back

Get it while you still can! Seems that all Unilocalers agree: great food, great prices, and warm service. The perfect hidden gem. The problem is that it may be too hidden — the owner told us that he is not doing so well in this Quincy location, so is looking to move back to Boston! I’m going to try to frequent there as much as I can in the meantime!

Yes, it’s everything you read about in the reviews. Good quality middle eastern food prepared with great pride and fresh ingredients. The best value around. The table was a little sticky and wobbly but you’re not paying for atmosphere. Highly recommend! And yes, BRINGCASH.

Thanks to Unilocal,I found this hidden-in-plain-sight gem for Middle Eastern food. The owner is just as nice as many others have reported. He was happy to make up a lovely vegetarian plate for me. The food comes quickly — I think this would be great a great place for a fast work day lunch. The food is also delicious, fresh, reasonably priced and plentiful. Turns out that the owner’s falafel sandwich was featured on WGBH’s ‘Sandwiches You Will Like’ series. And for good reason!

Debate #1,203,503 of the eternal question: quantity or quality? More on that later… One day last summer, I was watching an old PBS documentary on sandwiches(before Triple D was all the rave) which covered several restaurants around the country. It covered Sepal and their falafel sandwich, when it used to be in Watertown. So I Unilocaled the restaurant to see if it was still around. While it was closed in Watertown and Cambridge, I noticed that it newly opened in Quincy. The first trip was definitely my favorite one, as the beef kafka plate was tremendous. I enjoyed the rice with beans, along with the crisp and flavorful salad. Pita bread bits littered the salad, which was an interesting twist. Unlike Falafel King, plates at Sepal do not comes with falafel, but it’s still a good falafel worth getting. The dark green color inside give it a strong parsley taste and the falafel itself wasn’t greasy. The beef itself was grilled nicely and had good savory flavor. My second trip, I went for the chicken maklouba, since I like cauliflower and eggplant. Unfortunately, this was a more disappointing dish, and hence the reduction in grade. I was the only one inside and while I was waiting for my meal, I heard that unmistakable sound that I did not want to hear at all: A microwave door opening and closing. I don’t know if the rice or chicken was being microwaved, but that alarmed me. So I then tried the food. The chicken was a bit dry, though had some decent flavor. Good thing it was thigh meat or else I might’ve bitten into cardboard had it been chicken breast. The rice and vegetables were okay, but not great. The rice being a little mushy and wasn’t as good as the previous trip. Disappointing. Like most have written service here is generally friendly and Walid seems to care about his customers. That goes a long way in the business. So yeah, in my college days, I’d probably side with Falafel King in Quincy Center a lot more than Sepal, since Falafel King gives a lot more food. Falafel King’s plate includes falafel as well. However, I’m getting to that point in my life where quality is ruling more, and I’d go for the beef kafka here. I just hope I don’t hear that microwave oven door opening/closing again.

So so so GOOD! A little slice of heaven off of 3A in Quincy, great option added to the neighborhood. I’ve tried a good majority of the menu and can honestly say I’ve loved everything!!! It’s turned into a weekly staple that I must have! delicious falafel/stuffed grape leaves. Everything’s super fresh and cooked to perfection! ***FYI: Cash only***

Walid is a man that knows how to cook. Undoubtedly. The food and friendliness was amazing and something that will keep us returning. My wife’s falafel wrap and my Chick Tawook, were just about perfect. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall, my wife and I played a round of chess while we waited. And that’s where i’d like to start my suggested improvements. 1. You need a minimum of 2 people working here. One to collect money, one to cook. 2. Falafel King downtown(Boston, not Quincy), shoves a falafel in your face the minute you walk in the door. I think this is an amazing thing to do, so if possible, Walid and family should consider this. 3. Portion Size. While not small, i’m a big guy, my Chicken Tawook plate was more salad than chicken and rice. I understand chicken isn’t cheap, but even the rice was rather limited. I’d increase the plate size for eat-ins and offer more rice, and a tiny bit more chicken. Considering it’s a restaurant trying to gain it’s footing, they really need to go over the top in my opinion to win customers over and become a mainstay. They already have the right taste and the owner is really great, consider my points above and you’d have some serious business on your hands.

I came here because of the excellent reviews on Unilocal.I asked a friend to meet me here. We both enjoyed the food and we enjoyed Walid as well. Grape leaves, red lentil soup, falafel plate, hummus, chicken shawarma sandwich, Arabic mint tea. Excellent! I like the whole grain and vegan options as well. The question is: would I go out of my way to eat here? Yes I would!

I have the good luck to know someone from the area, so when I requested a restaurant recommendation, she thought of this place first. I am so glad, because I loved it. We tried several items: Musakhan plate — sumac and olive oil flavored chicken ChickenTawook plate — very flavorful chicken kabobs And, the Pièce de résistance — falafel and hummus. If you want really great, authentic falafel, this is it. It is nice and green inside from all the fresh parsley, just like falafel is supposed to be :) The hummus was also very authentic and SMOOTH. I don’t usually like chicken kabobs in restaurants because they tend to be dry, but not these. They were juicy and very flavorful. The musakhan was also very delicious, with the tangy sumac spice. The lentil soup that my husband got was DEVOURED by my toddler so he barely got a couple of spoonfuls :) And the mint tea was just what I needed on that cold day.

Do you know this song? So be it if they come to find out feeling good Is as easy as denying there’s day and night at all? Doing what it takes to feel a thing seems so out of reach They just claw their skin and grind their teeth and ball. Of course you don’t, because you spend your time listening to the whiny music stylings of Jason Mraz, the empty bravado of Jay-Z, and the unsatisfying sexuality of Iggy Azalea. But deep down you know that you need something healthy in your life. That guy with all the tattoos has been talking your ear off about Mike Cooley for like a decade now, so in a moment of optimism you check it out. Suddenly you realize that you’ve been listening to crap all these years, and that the crap has poisoned you. Your inner landscape is atrophied, you can’t feel anything. Well let me tell you, person, that the same thing is happening to your body because you’ve been eating that crummy fried tasteless falafel crap from Falafel King down the road. More like the falafel imposter, you will say, after you taste what Walid is serving up at this modest shop in Quincy Point. Your senses will come alive as the delightful flavors of eight vegetables and innumerable spices dance across your palate. The falafel is one of many reasons to give Walid’s joint a try. He’s committed to serving you healthy, wholesome, handmade food at a reasonable price. Who else does that, especially in Quincy? An entire meal of those delightful falafels, stewed okra, salad with homemade dressing, and lentils and rice, is eight bucks or so. Walid is a great guy with a compelling story: he is the changing face of Boston, and the fact that he’s landed in Quincy is a good omen for this town. He started at MIT but was pushed out by the bastards at Sodexo, moved to the Cambridgeside Galleria, but was pushed out by the taco bells of the world, and has also had shops in Watertown, the Children’s Hospital, and probably a million other places. Walid has a Ph.D. in filling your belly with wholesome food for cheap. Oh, also, there’s a parking lot. Just take it slow, walk on in, and let him serve you something delicious.

Confession: I have a huge crush on Walid. He is the most generous, mischievous and and accommodating restauranteur in the game. He is also the most interesting man in the world. Question: Who made hummus for Aerosmith before they were famous? Answer: Walid Question: Who served MIT students for 8 years and still rages about being bumped off in favor of Sodexo? Further, who still worries about the nutritional health of new MIT students? Answer: Walid Question: Who owned a successful restaurant in Cambridge Side Galleria, only to close it because he thought he was going too corporate? Answer: Walid. Question: Who now owns a hole-in the wall falafel shop in west Quincy, serving possibly the best falafel i’ve ever eaten in my life? Answer: WALID!!! This is Palestinean falafel, not Lebanese, and it’s awesome. It’s made with 8 veggies and spices, instead of just your usual chickpeas. You can have it baked or fried, in a sandwich or on a plate. The plate comes with stewed okra, brown rice and lentils, salad, bread and I believe hummus. Cash only for the time being. It’s just Walid right now, but he’s hiring some line cooks. Once the new staff is in place, Walid promises the baklava will be made in house. Really small space. Don’t be put off by the lack of signage or décor.
