I visited here after the staff at the RAM suggested it and it was great! Right now there is the Wisconsin Watercolors display, tons of beautiful works throughout the beautiful old house. Free!

Great classes, wonderful instructors! Steve Rys teaches great painting and collage classes. He is an instructor who guides those new to art, as well as those who have a background in art.

Associated with the Racine Art Museum(RAM), the Wustum is a great place to kick start your art in Racine! Wustum admission is free with your paid RAM admission. It’s an old house donated by a wealthy Racine industrialist family(the matriarch, to be exact), and it’s huge! I can’t imagine anyone living in such a big house back in the day. Filled with galleries and classrooms, the Wustum is good for art classes and exhibits, alike. We caught the last day of the watercolors exhibit– featuring Wisconsin artists. Much of the art was for sale, and much of it was worth owning! We explored room upon room of this old house, admiring the watercolors, and then explored the grounds outside. There’s lots of trees, flower beds, and a gazebo. I could see a weekly music series being given on the grounds in the summertime. There are art classes here, as I mentioned earlier, and they advertised upcoming copper classes, and also polymer jewelry making. They had a few polymer pieces on display from their collection. One thing Wustum and RAM both focus on is local art, artists, and artisans. I’m so glad we drove the 2 miles from RAM to the Wustum!
