Just got into the area a few months ago, and have been checking out the Asian groceries in the area. I wasn’t expecting to much from reading other people’s reviews. But decided to check it out for myself, and was pleasantly surprised having been in Korea the smells brought back memories of when I was there. Did a lot of looking around and was really surprised to see the fresh kimchee being made in the kitchen area the lady working even gave me a free sample it was very good nice and spicy. Was approached by an older gentleman who ask me if I needed any help, and we talked for about 10 minutes, turns out he is the owner retired military and he told me all about the store and how he got into business. They do carry everything I was looking which was mostly Korean, but they do carry Japanese, Thai, Philippine and Puerto Rican selections also. I’m really glad I went and checked this store myself I’ll definitely be coming back to fill my Asian food needs.

This morning I walked into the store for the first time and I was greeted by a friendly, middle aged woman. After I took a tour of the shop I asked about fresh chillies. The woman showed her selection of vegetables which were hidden under a canopy. The first five packages were filled with moldy chillies which I brought to her attention. I bought a few items which were by no means cheap but the only place around here that I could find them. Eight hours later as I’m cooking with the newly purchased stir-fry sauce, I looked at the expiration date and found to my horror that the product has expired TWOYEARS ago. Yes, that’s right, two years ago. I was beyond shocked. So, I got in my vehicle and headed back to the store with the product in hand. I was greeted by the same woman only this time she wasn’t so friendly when I pointed out to her the expiration date. Then she made out like she’d never met me. She found a replacement bottle with a 2015 expiration date. Not once did this woman apologize for selling expired food or for the inconvenience it caused me. Who knows, I may end up with food poisoning tomorrow. Based on this experience, I’m unlikely to be returning any time soon.

I love oriental asian food since I’ve been traveling to other parts of the U.S. I’ve visited Kentucky to see my relatives and I came upon this grocery store. This grocery store is run by an elderly Korean woman. I purchased a few items from that store and I realized that the products were expired and some of the packaged products had mold in them. I was very disappointed and I would not recommend going here. I also tried this other Korean grocery store, I believe it is called Asian Grocery Store and it is the same as well with their products. In addition, the prices were not reasonable and expensive. I usually go to the Louisville grocery stores for oriental food and it is cheaper and fresh.

Undoubtedly the best Asian grocery in Radcliff… but reeks of spoiled food, even when the temperature inside the store is in the 40’s, as it was on my last visit. As others have said, don’t trust the prepared, fresh, or frozen food without serious inspection before purchase or consumption, to make sure items are in-date or at least recent. I would add to be careful about the packaged items(even if they’re canned), as it’s not entirely unusual to find unsealed packages or contaminated jars and cans. The last time I was there, we came across several condiment jars that had either been opened or contaminated with spoiled food caked on the outside. They were set aside on the shelf, so someone had noticed them, but no one had bothered to remove them from the floor. Ick. Service is pretty poor, even when all one expects is to be checked out in a timely manner. The cashier was busy watching television and so three or four of us waiting for about five minutes at the counter before she could be fussed. ETA: Please do read the owner’s Unilocal message to me, telling me I’m too self-involved to deserve to spend my money at their store(which I have done, repeatedly), let alone expect it be held at a livable temperature or to purchase perishable merchandise remotely within indicated sell-by dates. Really. Well, that’s special. I do, though, wonder why I(specifically) merited this vitriol, not the subsequent others esteeming this place similarly poorly to my opinion(and for related reasons…). Make your own decisions…

This is my favorite Asian store in the 40121 area. It has everything I need to make Pad Thai, Phở, egg rolls and it has a variety of other packaged and canned goods. The prices are decent. Be wary of their cooked packaged items for sale; some things look like they have been sitting there since mid-morning.

Considering my options for Asian stores are pretty limited in the Louisville area having 1 of(I believe) 3 big stores within a few miles of each other is a plus. Fortunately, there is a decent size Korean and Filipino community that the store carries a good supply of needed items. The one area that may be of concern are the refrigerated items. I saw a few items that was of great desire to me but when I saw the dates on it were about 3 months past the«best buy» date I was a bit leary. Needless to say, I stick to most of the preserved items or frozen.
