I want to love this place, i really do, but it’s so inconsistent. Sometimes the coffee is great, others not so much. The owner is creepily friendly. Also, the worst part, they don’t have decaf espresso. :(

Completely inconsistent with food quality and customer service. One day they answer the phone the next they don’t. One day they deliver the next they don’t. The female sounding man that answers the phone, the day they decide to answer, definitely needs to work on his customer service skills. Overall if your looking to get delivery don’t waste your time chances are they won’t even answer the phone or they’ll just tell you they’re too busy.

Great coffee and great food! I like coming here because of the atmosphere and the employees are always are good to their customers.

Great breakfast and coffees. I have been here numerous times and only had one bad experience when it was extremely busy. I love the atmosphere and supporting a local business rather than getting Starbucks. Now time to rant. Everything is overpriced. I’ve read other people’s reviews about it being less expensive than Starbucks? Wrong. Brewin Around’s hot and iced coffees with flavor are more expensive and smaller in size. Their large iced coffee is equivalent in size to their small hot coffee. My friend and I bought both and could fill the entire small mug with the iced coffee(without the ice). It’s safe to say that if you want the best bang for your buck go with the hot coffee.

Update: It has been YEARS since I first posted my review and although we moved from the Radford area, my husband and I still have family in the area so we return often. As I believe I stated in my original review, there is a Starbucks located on Radford University’s campus and, like the college itself, is often closed during non-school hours. Because Brewin Around is owned by a not-college-student, the hours are much more flexible which is amazing! Their menu changes sometimes which can be nice to go in and see new offerings. Last time I checked I believe they had biscuits and gravy and I was really impressed with their(homemade) pasta salad. One of the biggest draws for us whenever we’re in town is the coffee(something that, unfortunately not all coffee shops pride themselves on anymore). They french press each individual cup so, although you have to wait a minute or two, you KNOW your coffee is fresh. There’s a huge difference in taste from freshly brewed coffee vs coffee you know has been sitting on the burner for 2 hours. They have their busy times. During Radford University’s Highlander Festival they tend to be a bit busy. It’s nice though. It’s never busy where you have to wait 15 – 20 minutes. Instead it’s a nice steady flow of people and it seems as though people feel more comfortable to chat with each other or sit and read instead of other coffee shops where you feel rushed to get in and out. It’s a comfortable atmosphere and I believe the staff has decided to forgo a uniform and instead dress in business casual which is nice. It’s a bit less formal and makes you feel more comfortable. I will have to double check this, but I believe they now serve beer and wine and I know they deliver also. They didn’t have a HUGE variety of pastries last time I was in, but I’m there for the coffee and sandwiches so that wasn’t a downside for me. Overall they are a definite go-to when you’re in town. Somehow they have managed a nice balance between college kids and locals which is REALLY difficult to do in this time. They appeal to everyone which is nice. We will be stopping back in next time we’re in town!

So their coffee is French pressed. And absolutely delicious. It’s not too often a café offers fresh French pressed but Brewin Around does just that. I had a bagel here & it was truly substandard but their coffee saves the day! Thanks for being there to start our Virginia mornings! Definitely recommend this place for coffee. Conveniently located next to Radford University for students. Study spot anyone?
