Good food and service, time it takes for food to come it’s just outrageous. Other than the time it takes for food to come out, everything else is pretty awesome! I had the special tonight, which is the Stuffed Pepper Meatballs, OMG! Melt in your mouth delicious and the garlic French fries were perfect! Came here for date night after a long week so it was the perfect combo of chill and fun! Karaōke night was also an added bonus!

It really is a hit or miss here. Usually my friends and I are there on Saturdays for karaōke when Shelly and Pete are behind the bar which is great. They are super attentive. If Johnny is there it makes for an even better night as the 3 of them are the best bartenders there. A friend and I actually went on a different night for a friend’s birthday and wound up leaving before she even got there because the service was so bad. The food is pretty good. You can get a meatball loads of different ways. I will usually get a spicy pork meatball pizza while my roommate prefers to get bareballs, which is just a plate of your choice of meatballs which you can put any kind of sauce on. I also love getting an ice cream sandwich if we’re there on a slower night and sitting at the bar. You pick the kind of cookie and the type of ice cream. Definitely large and a spoon is needed. My friends and I usually talk each other into getting them. In terms of drinks, it’s definitely more of a beer and cider place but you can get a decent cocktail if Shelly or Johnny are there. More than once, I overheard a customer complain that their drink was not right since I know for a fact that some of the bartenders have never been bartenders before and have no training. In the summer, the tiki bar was a great addition. A great place to hang out when the weather was nice or if a karaōke singer was just completely awful, sometimes I would escape outside with my drink for a bit. I’m definitely a regular but have no illusions that this place is amazing. Some good things, some bad. Usually a good time regardless.

The service was non-exsistent. I ordered the spicy pork with spicy meat sauce sub. It came out cold(temperature) and the one slice of mozzarella cheese was thrown on top and not melted into the sandwich. It was not spicy at all and the meat had no flavor. I would have sent it back but the waitress disappeared for 20 mins. I tracked down the food runner from another table to even place my order. What a waste of a meal. I will not go back. The garlic fries were average. I asked for them to be cooked«well done» just so I know they would cook them. they came out hot but not crispy at all. Meh!

Bartenders charge whatever is convenient to them. It’s a bunch of shitty locals with terrible serum ice and food. I have had a few good servers but it’s basically Roadhouse before Patrick Swayze came to town.

Service is hit or miss but the food is awesome! I’ve had bad bartenders and good bartenders and I’ve only sat at a table once and the waitress seemed overwhelmed and under qualified. The food on the other hand is always on point! My favorite choices are usually anything on special(which they always run out of: frustrating) the salmon and the pork! This place is definitely worth trying when you’re not in a rush!

We used to go to Flynn’s so we wanted to check the new place out. We were impressed! Juicy burgers with fresh mozzarella cheese. And a great selection of beer.

What a great place to just wander into. Looking for a place to have dinner and drinks, we came across Meatballs and Brew. Super friendly, personable folks — bartender, owner, patrons. Great tiki bar out back built by the bar regular Bobby — who bought drinks for us as he gave us a tour of his fine work. A lot of fun people in a really fun place. I wouldn’t miss a trip back, if ever back in Rahway, NJ! Thanks Maurice — job well done.

I was looking for something new to try in our area that was inexpensive and different when I stumbled across this little place on here. The reviews were mixed but the menu looked intriguing. When we walked in it looked kind of like we walked into a small run down bar with a few tables with the generic red and white checkered picnic table clothes. The bar had maybe 10 — 12 people sitting around it who looked like regulars. Mostly older men and 1 younger couple. We decided to just eat at the bar. There was one bartender/waitress and one man helping whom I think was the owner. He took our order which was a burger and a smasher. The smasher is 2 meatballs smashed on a brioche bun with your choice of cheese and cause. I picked mozzarella and the parmesan cream sauce. The food came out and it was served with garlic fries which were delicious! My boyfriend’s burger was a good looking burger and he said it was delicious. My sandwich was also good but I was disappointed with the size of the meatballs. It was a bad bread to meat ratio. If they added more meatball, the sandwich would have been excellent. Best way to describe it: Dive bar with mini meatballs. :-)

I was here on a weeknight to have a bite to eat. Noted one bartender/server, who seemed frazzled and busy with her regulars sitting at the bar. Ordered three meatball sliders — 2 of the meatballs were room temp on the inside, almost cold, and 1 was still warm. Waited about a half hour for that because they were having issues in the kitchen, so I didn’t want to send it back and risk waiting longer — I was hungry! Meatballs were good but would have been better at the appropriate temp. So much potential but overall experience left a lot to be desired.

Grabbed dinner with a coworker here while we were in town. The staff was friendly and the ambience was welcoming(sports bar feel). They had an ok selection of beers, and their food was great. I got a smasher and the coworker got a pizza– portions were decent. Check out their specials, they have a great assortment of creative and classic meatballs. Worth a visit!

Okay, first let me say that this place is a rip-off of a successful restaurant chain in New York City, right down to the offerings on the menu. That kind of turned me off because Rahway needs some original ideas, and this is not one of them, but I decided to check it out anyway. I’ve been here twice so far. First time was 1 star-worthy, and the second one was closer to a 5. It’s amazing how different the experiences were. The first time, I came with my boyfriend and there was nobody around to tell us whether we should seat ourselves or be seated, so we just sat. It took forever for someone to come over, and the server was slightly rude and seemed like she was nearly high. She didn’t write down our order then forgot it before she said it back to us. Fine, whatever, sometimes people have their«off» days. But when we got our food, it was cold. Nobody else in the restaurant to wait on, yet the food tasted as if it had been sitting in the back for a while. The buns weren’t toasted, the meatballs were lukewarm at best, and the sauce was nearly cold. It was terrible, and not worth the money AT. ALL. I went with some family members the second time and the experience was exponentially better. Our waitress was boisterous and friendly, making suggestions on what she liked. The food was warm and so so so much better than the first time. She made sure to check on us and ask how we liked our food. Such a better time. I’ve heard a few reviews from friends, and most of them have been closer to the first experience, so it seems that this place is pretty hit or miss. It has potential, but it needs to try harder.

My coworkers and I decided to come here for happy hour last Thursday. I was able to get street parking a block away. Meters ends at 7pm. I was able to get the owner/manager guy to change the TV to ESPN so I could catch the NFL draft for later that night. The bartender was the only wait staff for the night. She got a little snippy with me when I ordered my salmon meatball on brioche and ice cream sandwich but asked for the dessert to come out first. It felt as if I asked her to go out and milk the cow to make the ice cream. Since she was the only wait staff the cook came out delivering the food most of the time but he had to ask her every time where the dish went. It was very painful to watch as my sandwich slowly walks around the bar. I would come back for the food but there’s plenty of other places to do a Happy hour with better service.

The menu, food and atmosphere of this establishment were so fun! Everything was very pleasant to look at and the general theme of the place makes me want to go back again. It’s definitely a good bar spot and good for casual dining with friends. The service was fine and the wait times were average — the only things that kept me from loving the place were… During our meal there was a STRONG scent of cigarette smoke as if someone was smoking inside the building at the bar or perhaps just outside the door with the door propped open. This is really not something that I want to smell when I’m eating a beautiful meal on a sunday afternoon, and my family members and I have strong allergies. About ten minutes later there was a strong scent of pot coming again from inside the restaurant. My family seemed to think it was the staff but all i know is that it really didn’t add anything to the dessert experience. Overall, I would go back with friends at night but not for an afternoon family meal.

Replacing what used to be an Irish bar, Meatballs and Brews offers a comfortable place to grab drinks and enjoy casual fare. Their menu offers a range of options, and the staff and ambiance make for a casual and leisurely setting. I actually tried the restaurant once before about a month ago. Between my two trips I’ve stopped in for a full dinner, and once just for drinks. Meatballs! The concept is fun and a bit different, but fortunately not restrictive. The menu offers a variety of pub type appetizers including wings, mac and cheese bites, and pretzel nuggets. Then meatballs! On their own, as a hero, sliders, or served atop a side order of spaghetti. The idea of mixing and matching your meatball to a sauce is a bit entertaining. I tried a spicy pork meatball with classic tomato sauce slider, and a classic beef ball with spicy meat sauce on top of a side of pasta. The plain ball was truly plain — not quite my deal, but I know some people who like truly Plain Jane meatballs. That’s for them. My favorite bits were the spicy meatball and the meat sauce. Both had more of a flavor punch, but aren’t actually crazy(and by crazy I mean sweat inducing) spicy. The side of broccoli was cooked perfectly and with a heavy hand of garlic which I love. Use caution there if it’s a first date. There are also some salads and sides and a veggie ball that are good for vegetarians. Also I’m sure one of the pizzas can be made without a meatball topping if that’s your speed. The back of the restaurant has a pool table, dart board and old school Pac-Man game giving you something to do while waiting for food, or a great place to hang out and have drinks. There is a full bar, and about 8 – 10 beers on tap. As of last night they had the usual Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, Stella, and Guinness. Also included were Sam Adams Cold Snap, a Shock Top seasonal that I didn’t know existed — a dark chocolate stout called Shockolate(use the French pronunciation), and a fabulous not to sweet IPA called Single Wide from Boulevarde Brewing Co. A Shockolate and Single Wide came to $ 11. Morris the owner is a friendly guy straight off the boat from Tipperary, Ireland(cue the awesome accent). He obviously loves his restaurant and wants his patrons to as well. Bartenders are super friendly, and will strike up conversation if you sit at the bar. In short, I’ll definitely be back. Whether for a casual dinner on the black and white checked table tops, to hang out and have drinks at the large beautiful old oak(I think) bar, or to shoot pool, Meatballs and Brews delivers.

The wife and I really enjoy this place. They do a good job with their prime item, meatballs. They also have cupcakes that are totally yummie. I ate two of the lemon meringue cupcakes in one sitting last week. I enjoyed the cod and shrimp special too. The prices are good for both bar and food. I think it’s a solid value for the money. And, we have always enjoyed our server. All of them have been great.

A diamond in the rough? Meatballs and Brew is in the old Flynn’s location. Parking can be a little difficult on the street but the municipal lot behind the Waiting Room is very close by. The bar area is shaped like a capital L, with flat screen TVs very well placed to catch all the sports action. We have come here twice now and both times sat at the bar. The first visit, the bartender was good but may not have communicated the happy hour specials clear enough to us. She said all drafts were $ 1 off but the bill said the drafts were $ 6 so that means they were initially $ 7? That didn’t seem right. When we ordered food, husband had the Spicy Pork Meatball Hero with Parmesean Cheese Sauce and Provolone Cheese and fries for $ 10. It was about an 8 inch long sandwich with 4 meatballs and he enjoyed it. I had sliders for $ 3 each– I tried the beef, spicy pork, and chicken with different sauces. Everything was between just fine and good. Nothing extraordinary. The other time we came back we only came for drinks and the vibe was pretty depressing. Local musicians were taking turns playing sets and the guy we heard played really slow mournful tunes. We came for the Halloween party so this was confusing and not the scene we expected. So here’s the truth: The meatballs and sauces aren’t anything amazing but they are good. Just nothing incredibly special. Being that this place is all about meatballs, you’d expect them to be out of this world. We will give this place another shot and just hope not to wind up there for slow depressing live music night.

After realizing the Rail House was closed in the early afternoon, my beau and I strolled over to Meatballs & Co to check it out. I had not been there since it was Flynn’s last year… we were hungry and it was close so it seemed like a good time to try. The place was depressingly empty for a Sunday afternoon, with plenty of games on the TV. The place looks exactly like the old Flynn’s, except its not as dark. Lighter paint on the walls and some wall sconces don’t give it such a gloomy look anymore. We went decided to sit at the bar and ordered 2 beers. Our waitress was friendly enough but we asked her if she had any suggestions or favorites off the menu — this is our litmus test to see how a) they present the establishment and/or b) really find out what is good there. Sorry to say she failed miserably. When the words«uhhhhh» come out of your mouth, to me, that is definitely NOT a good sign. So we decided to just kind of pick and choose — an order of wings, pretzel nuggets with beer cheese dip and french onion soup to start. Their special ‘ball of the week was a greek style beef ball with tzatziki and that is what I ordered. My boyfriend ordered the spicy pork bare balls with the meat sauce. I will be completely honest in saying I was not expecting much. After waiting a good while(in actuality probably not that long but we were starved) the wings and soup came out. We dove in and the food was much better than I anticipated. The wings were nice and crispy in a mild sauce and I got about a good 8 of them on the plate. The french onion soup was also tasty, with the cheese on slightly charred on one end of the bowl. We weren’t even a third of the way in our apps when the rest of the food came out. So now we have all these plates of food… could have been managed a little better coming out of the kitchen. The greek balls were good but I have 2 points to pick — the meatballs are really quite small and you get 2 of them cut in half in a big pretzel bun. That’s not even the real issue — you got small balls(he he) and a healthy amount of cold tzatziki. The result being you have a cold ball sandwich. I will say that even cold it was GOOD and the simple salad I ordered with it was also very surprisingly good. The pork balls were nice and hot and came with a nice amount of sauce on it, but they weren’t drowning in it; hence the name bare balls. 2 slices of foccacia to go with the pork balls were also good. The final verdict is overall, I was really happy with the food. Can they do better as far as preparation/timing? Of course.

Came yesterday for a late lunch. On Unilocal and outside the restaurant it uses the name Meatballs & Co but on Facebook and it’s website it goes by Meatballs & Brews. It was empty except for someone at the bar. We did not drink, but I noticed they had happy hour specials. Main st was pretty empty, I’m not sure if this fills up at night. We started out with the bacon wrapped beef meatballs as an appetizer for $ 8. They were yummy albeit a bit small and a little pricey. I had the bare balls. You get 4 meatballs of your choice with choice of sauce. I got the spicy pork with Parmesan cream. My husband picked the beef meatball hero with mozzarella and French fries. Everything tasted good but I wish the meatballs were bigger. With a name with meatballs in the title you really expect it to be the main event. Our server was very nice, I hope the place finds it’s niche.
