Great service with a hometown feel. The Benny(eggs benedict) were spot on with homemade taste and just a touch of tang. I would not reccommend the biscuits and gravy if you like it chunky. But otherwise a great cozy place to eat.

Good but not great. Don’t sit near the front door in the winter as the temperature change can be disrupting

A perfect small town eatery! We came in after a soccer game at the fairgrounds there in St Helens with a few hungry young ladies and the moms. Service was friendly and quick, the menu had plenty of choices and the specials were listed for us right away with all questions answered nicely, even though there were a lot of them(Food allergies make dining out an issue)! Food was great, presented well, and served with a smile and we were checked on regularly by the gal waiting on us even though we chose a table that was in the far corner and a little out of the way(didnt want our herd to bother anyone else in the place, although they are pretty good kids they were awful excited about their game).

Rainier is such a cute little town and this place is just a cute little restaurant in the middle. We came for breakfast and ordered the ‘Chicken Fried Pile Up’ and ‘The Benny’. The pile up had chicken fried steak, hash browns, scrambled eggs, cheese and gravy all piled on top of each other. A bite with everything in one was good, the meat on its own didn’t taste seasoned. It was alright tasting, hot and pleasing to the eye. The Benny was 2 separate plates. First plate had biscuits and gravy(it was ok, not allot of sausage in the gravy which needed pepper and the biscuits were flat). The second plate was hash browns, 2 eggs and 2 sausage links(the links were AMAZING!!!) Seriously the links were the best part of the meal! The eggs I ordered over easy and they were cooked nicely and seasoned well, the same with the hash browns. The mugs the coffee come in are oversized so be ware, lots of coffee coming at ya. The portions were very generous, I’d like to try dinner here(I’ll try to order sausage links as my side at dinner!).

Great café. I can tell they try hard to satisfy customers. The halibut bites were great. They have massive milkshakes with a ton of flavor choices. I couldn’t ask for more. Prices are reasonable and quality and service are top notch.

This place has a special place in my heart! Amazing owners and perfect food for a small town setting. Try the onion rings with blue cheese and the NOAHNATOR… if you dare! The milkshakes are the best and so hard to find anywhere nowadays. Tillamook Ice cream and REALTOPPINGS! Order a dinner entrée and get a salad that is one my favorites out before your meal! The fried chicken is THEBOMB! You wont be sorry you stopped!

Had lunch here yesterday. Bacon burger– didn’t impress me because the hamburger patty just tasted like fried hamburger without any seasoning. French fries– the only good food– crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Coffee– bitter & burnt tasting; quite gross. Was never asked for a refill which I would have refused. Service– quite inferior. We weren’t acknowledged when we entered, we sat at the table for more than 15 minutes per my watch: waiting for menus and for someone to ask if we wanted anything to drink. When a server finally did come over for our drink order, she went somewhere only to never be seen again at our table(there were six of us) but she was waiting on other tables just not ours. Then another server came over to us and asked what we wanted to eat, well we still never received our coffees, waters and sodas, so she did go back to the kitchen to get the drinks and waters! Was that first server having a bad day? But after the second server came back with our drinks, she took our order which arrived at a descent time– we didn’t have to wait until Christmas for our food. Would I ever eat here again? No.

One of the best choices for breakfast lunch and dinner in the Rainier and Longview area. Homey café with homemade comfort food. My favorite are the homemade soups.

Amazing food and great service. We brought our two dogs and sat outside. They immediately brought us out ham and water for the babies. My new favorite place :)

Came here looking for a good burger… but my wife and I were both distracted by the many other delicious sounding offerings on the menu. We had heard good things about this place and they did not disappoint! Both the service and the food were excellent! We will certainly return return again! Thank you!

It’s well known to Columbia County folk that the Cornerstone is the best local diner in the county. There have been many to come and go, but this place stays round because of how dang good the food is! Good pie, good beer, great service and mighty-fine steak fries. I would recommend the Mushroom Swiss burger they have, with steak fries of course. Go there a few times and they might just start calling you by first name, or at. the very least remember you. Don’t let the pizza place across the street lure you in, you know you want real food.

On my many adventures out west on Highway 30, I found good food places to be hard to come by. St Helens and Scappoose have a lot of chain restaurants that I have no interest in, so I tend to keep driving west. I found The Cornerstone café a few years ago, and I do love it. It’s a cute little neighborhood spot, and all the waitresses are as sweet as pie. Food portions are huge, so come hungry!

Fabulous! Awesome food and service! Pleasantly surprised. Dinner was excellent… steak with an ‘old fashion’ cooked baked potato. Hubs had the fried chicken – freshly battered and was served piping hot and crispy! Their dinner salad is second to none. Something you would find in a high-end Portland restaurant. Looking forward to going for breakfast! Downside — it was a super HOT day and the dining room was a bit stuffy! However – did not deter our appetite! Downtown Rainier is quaint and quiet. Take the time after your meal to take a walk to the small marina.

What more can you expect from your hometown meeting place? Rainier is a typical small town + adjoining rural area. There are no chain franchises aside from the Chevron and Shell stations, no real grocery store, and everyone in the area is either related or knows each other(maybe the last one is an exaggeration, but it sure seems like it). The Cornerstone, located appropriately on a street corner, is perfect as a local meeting place, but it affords as much to those who are just passing through, with décor that feels right at home(excluding the men’s room full of vintage signs and posters), and cheerful, friendly staff. I have eaten breakfast at this place twice, and I have found it very enjoyable both times. The sausage links are a MUST, they are über delicious, and are worth it alone. Sadly, they aren’t homemade, but they are from the region(not sure where, though.) The biscuits and gravy are slightly disappointing, due to a lack of sausage, but are tasty nonetheless. Add an array of egg and omelet options, pancakes and waffles, and coffee, and you have a perfect breakfast, whether you are going to Seattle, or are just out the door earlier than usual.
