Great place, fresh and fast. Get the Baja salad with mole chicken.

Fun locally owned burrito place. I love it because it’s simple, fresh and oh so good! It rivals chipotle, nay trumps it, with three chicken options, steak, fish, tacos, burritos, salads… it’s the hidden gem of mission valley, and my go to grab a bite between classes kinda place. The owner is really kind, and I love that I can support a local business instead of a national mega-chain. Prices are great, especially in a college student budget. I hope this place stays around for a long time.

Basic. Simple. As good as it gets! I’ve been eating here for the last 10 years and it is my gold standard for a good burrito. I’m still not sure what makes the burritos so good, since the ingredients are pretty basic, but they are the best. The fresh salsa is very good, and worth purchasing. The taco salad is also delicious. Now a days people be like, «Chipotle this, and Chipotle that» but Chipotle tastes like cardboard crap compared to Baja.

Great fresh food and staff is terrific. Great place if you are a vegetarian. Better than Moe’s and Chipotle.

Located in the upper level of the Mission Valley center. Baja has been keeping NCSU students from starving for many years now. These are the best burritos I’ve found in Raleigh! Come here hungry because these burritos are huge. The burritos are wrapped in foil whether you dine in or take out, and it helps keep the burrito together while you are eating it. Tortilla chips come as a side but they come plain. You will need to order some salsa separately if you want it but you will probably need extra chips as well. The burritos are a great price! I recommend the verde chicken, but all of the meat is delicious. I’m going to go get another burrito right now!

The absolute best nachos in town. None better! Only wish they were closer to my house. I would be there all the time!

Baja Burrito is what Moe’s and Chipotle and Q’doba wish they could be. It’s local, not hideously corporate and just good with out the heartburn. About similar price, but better tasting and the workers are very nice and aren’t exasperated with long lines and nit picky orders. If I had to choose between the previously mentioned burrito places and Baja, I’d always suggest it. They have a few bottle beer selections and offer vegetarian and non pork options that aren’t just sides or gross after thoughts– yummy stuff!!! The parking is rough, I suggest parking at the bigger lot by the Champions/Harrar/Abyssina/DP Dough/Cup a Joe area to avoid frustration or getting stuck in traffic. The inside is bright, and after you order and get your food, it’s a clean-up-after-yourself and get-your-own-napkins-and-plasticware kind of deal. Casual and simple.

One of my favorite places in Raleigh! The burritos are huge and delicious. The ingredients are always fresh. I’ve never been disappointed!

Delicious California style burritos. Ample, inexpensive, and a variety that suits all palates,(beef, chicken, fish, veggies, brown rice, etc.) It’s been my regular, go-to lunch spot for years. The food is fresh, their salsa is excellent, their mole is savory, and their service rocks. They serve tacos, quesadillas, and salads, all of which are great, but for me it’s all about the burritos. I’ve changed my menu selections throughout the years, but generally I’ll order the grilled chicken burrito, the spinach/grilled vegetable burrito, the mole chicken burrito, or the fish burrito. The owner, Judy, is also a super awesome lady with a great sense of community, and she always remembers and appreciates her regular customers.

I love coming to Baja for a quick lunch or to grab a burrito to go. The service is always fast and friendly, even at peek lunch times when a line starts to form. My favorite is the spinach burrito. They have options for wheat tortillas and brown rice, which I don’t see at other establishments like this. They also have options for quesadillas, tacos, and salads if, for some reason, you’re not in the mood for a giant cali-burrito.

I have fond memories of Baja Burrito from years ago. I was in the area recently, got nostalgic, and decided to pop in. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the memory. The food is pretty average. The burrito was fine, but nothing I couldn’t get from one of the chains that does the same thing. The pico actually made the thing a little too cold, which is a common complaint that I have with burritos — you have hot ingredients and cold ingredients, and there are almost always cold pockets in the thing. I can’t stand that. Someone needs to get on how to fix that. Baja Burrito isn’t on it. Salsa is extra, so you can sit and eat dry chips if you don’t want to fork up fifty cents. The service was fine, but it’s just limited to the counter. At least it was swift, and the price wasn’t terrible. All in all, this was sadly a middling affair and a disappointment since I used to love the food.

I eat lunch here at least once a week. The nachos are awesome. The price is fairly cheap and the staff is super friendly. Love this place!

tldr; The food was not fresh as advertised –1star Rice was soggy, and like the pinto beans, was bland. –1star I was missing half the meat in the first large half of my burrito, so much so that I almost went up there to ask if they forgot it –1 big star Food wasn’t terrible, but they hyped up how great and fresh the food was on their site. For the amount of food you got, I felt it was pricey. Half of my burrito(first half) did not have meat. The rice inside was soggy and flavorless. My friend ordered with me and he literally had 7 chips(you get free chips with your food) to my actual handful of chips. If our order came at the same time, why make it awkward with the chips? The other friend who ordered separately got the salsa, and I tired some. Neither he or I liked it and imo the salsa is not made fresh everyday. I’ve made salsa in the morning that taste fresher than what I got, even at dinner time. The salsa was not flavorful. Honestly, even if they didn’t lie about how fresh everything tastes(I don’t mind if my order is fresh or not, but if you advertise it that way it better be that way. Plus that is what influenced me towards trying them out instead of standard fast food or another nearby restaurant.) As someone previously mentioned, it looked like they threw it together. Either they hired a new chick to make the food or they are slacking because they have a good fan base. I’m probably never going to eat here again.

I ordered carry out and when I opened my taco at home it looked like someone put a bunch of ingredients in a blender and poured it into a soft taco and rolled it up in foil. I would have had to eat it with a spoon. No thanks. Also, for some reason, they gave me a bunch of chips but nothing to dip them in. No thanks.

I popped in here for a quick bite before picking up my husband from work. They boast about their clientele getting a craving for their food that keeps them coming back again and again. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, where they offered me sour cream guacamole and salsa on the side(didn’t look to see if this was extra). The soda cup they gave me was on the smaller side, but I definitely appreciate that given the belief that ‘bigger is better’ in the American fast food world. The quesadilla itself was a good size(4 sections) but the 2 star review comes from it being a bit on the soggy side, the sour cream tasting surprisingly like Greek yogurt, and the fact that while that was the only thing I had to eat all day, it’s still sitting with me 10 hours later. I don’t see myself craving this feeling again.

There are lots of places to get a decent burrito in the Triangle. But this is the best. The menu is uncomplicated, the burritos are big and tasty, and you get free chips with your order. Can’t really beat that. I live in Chapel Hill, but I’m always looking for reasons to go to Raleigh to get my fix.

Baja Burrito is a locally owned place that has been around for about 15+ years so they must be doing something right. It is a good cheap lunch or dinner option. For about $ 6 you can get a meal and a drink. The burritos are ridiculously hefty. Never weighed one, but it seems like a pound and half of food. Probably not, but it is a large meal. For non meat eaters they have options and for healthy conscious there is brown rice and whole wheat tortillas. There are 3 different chicken options 1) grilled/slightly spicy 2) mole/red sauce/somewhat spicy 3) verde/green tangy sauce. There is also shredded pork and grilled steak. They taste good, but not exceptional. If you want a little more heat, ask for it. Recently they added fish. The food is definitely better than all the other chain Tex –Mex grill options. There are other things besides burritos there, but I have never tried them. I have taken several people there and they all liked it much better than the chain places. Definitely not a dry meal, It is saucy. Grab napkins and, if you are worried about getting it on you, grab a fork. The salsa has a good flavor The atmosphere is definitely college. Don’t expect much as far as the interior goes. It is simple with nothing fancy going on. If you are in the Mission Valley/NCSU area and want some Mexican food give this place a shot.

I’m a healthy eater, and it’s rare that I can eat a burrito and feel good about it. Enter Baja Burrito, with whole wheat tortillas, brown rice, grilled fish, all-white chicken, grilled veggies, and other healthful options on the menu. Of course, none of this would mean much if flavor had to be sacrificed in the name of wholesomeness, but luckily this isn’t the case here. Everything I’ve had has been delicious. And don’t be put off if you come here at lunch and find a long-ish line at the register. This place is always well-staffed, and the manager(owner?) is fully on top of making sure that orders are processed efficiently and quickly. One negative: the tortilla chips(served with each meal) are pretty bad. I usually ask to hold them.

Before those other chain places appeared, there was Baja Burrito serving up huge taste-tastic burritos. Given the amount of places to get a good burrito these days I hadn’t been to Baja as much, but on my last visit was reminded why they rock. I usually go for the the grilled chicken deluxe, but decided to try the new fish burrito. Excellent! If they added a shrimp one to the menu, I’d probably make a weekly trip there. The atmosphere is kind of local hole in the wall. The prices are on par with other burrito places, but Baja gets extra points for giving you chips with your burrito for free. Unless you’re downtown or at NCSU it’s probably not as convenient as some of the others, but well worth the trip for a good burrito and a change of pace.

Went to Baja Burrito with a couple of friends before a movie the other night. The praise was high as were my expectations. The interior isn’t anything fancy. Bright colors on the walls but everything is pretty bland. I ordered the Deluxe Chicken Mole Burrito. It came with Chicken, Black Beans, Rice, Sour Cream, and Hot Sauce. It was plenty big. The flavor of the chicken was good but I was expecting more heat from the hot sauce. It was also really really messy and didn’t hold together like I expected. Something that went into it was just too watery. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t mind the mess but I missed the ease of eating that comes with a slightly drier consistency. The chips that come with it are forgettable. It would really surprise me if they were home made. The service is forgettable. You don’t have to do much to provide good service at a counter-type place but they missed the mark. Nonetheless, the burrito was good and I would go back to try the nachos, tacos, and quesadillas.
