Started in 1936! If they don’t have it, you don’t need it! Hammers for DoorKnobs, PopCorn Machine and a Lenox Saw! That’s what I want and that’s what they have! Great Help too! A Lady Brought a Snake in here! The Reptilian kind! Smart! She knew a bunch of MEN were in here and one would probably know the Gender and Kind of Snake that it was! She wanted to raise it as a pet!

Great place, good service. I was in there recently and this younger clerk came on a bit strong in wanting to help me. Seemed his toughness was more important to make sure he dominated me, right of the bat. It didn’t phase me, in the end when checking out, he was like a little pussycat.

When I need anything hardware-related, Burke Brothers is the first place I go. It’s a small shop, but it’s stocked to the hilt! So they don’t have large appliances or miles of lumber or home décor stuff like a big-box shop; they specialize in what they do have to offer, and the level of knowledge displayed by the staff regarding their products is far better than what is generally found in the chain stores. Service is always attentive but not overbearing and — most impressive to me — not once have I felt condescended to or dismissed by the staff because I’m a woman. Also, popcorn popper! Great product selection, respectful and knowledgeable staff, and free popcorn — what is not to love?

Burke Brothers is a real, honest-to-gosh hardware store. Rows and rows of parts. If a hardware store should carry it, they have it. VERY knowledgeable staff. Top notch.

Want to rescue America from the poor economical issues than support local companies like this one. Hard working locals that strive to help you with most home improvement, repairs, etc. I have been here several times when working projects with a previous employer. They have a huge selection, not a huge crowd, makes it easy for a Dad, etc to wonder off from the den and check out some«man» toys. Don’t forget their is a small engine repair company attached at the rear of the building. Great place to get repairs or run by and pick up parts like I did for my Craftsman mower.

If you are not a fan of those mega hardware stores then Burke Brothers Hardware will be a godsend. This family owned business may look like a small store on the outside but on the inside presents a much different story. You will be overwhelmed with not only the selection of hardware needs but also the knowledge by the friendly staff. Amazingly prices are nearly in line with those mega hardware stores. But if you are a downtown Raleigh resident you will find that you can be in and out of the store in no time with some free added expert help. This location has everything from lumber, tools, nails, screws, livestock feed, plants, keys and the list goes on. Plenty of parking and usually the staff will help load your car. The added services outnumber Lowes or Home Depot hands down. The only drawback is that this store closes typically at 6pm.
