The music was too loud. We could not hear the cell telephone ring. We missed an important telephone call. And the wait staff would not turn down the loud music. Waitperson would not write down the order. Said it was not the job. We told him it was. The chicken was too spicy. And the meat was smaller size than the vegetable. ON the plate. Bigger portion of vegetable on the plate than meat. We not order ice in the soft drink. And got ¾ ice. We are not going back. The place is small. And hard to walk when it is busy. Waitperson got angry not a tip. We have not been back. The price is fine dining. The décor is plain.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Raleigh. Every dish we had this evening was exceptional. Quality meats and fish. Rich sauces. Perfectly done vegetables. The staff was genuine and friendly. Our family had an excellent experience. We will come again and recommend it highly to all.

Great food in appropriate serving sizes. Salmon cooked perfectly. Veal and chicken dishes were excellent. Lasagna just what I was hoping for. Tiramasu and chocolates mousse melted in your mouth. Canolli’s were delicately fresh. Lemon sherbet deliciously and attractively served in a hollowed out lemon. Great service, water and wine glasses were always filled. Choice wine list. Rosebuds on every table. Great repartee with owner and staff made dinner a memorable adventure! We were greeted at the door by Dino himself! Only negative was that they were out of the mussels which was one of the specials.

We like to try new places and this came up on a Google search. Even though we’ve visited Sutton Square a bunch and have even eaten at Winston’s several times, we’d missed this restaurant back in the corner. We made a reservation for Friday night, but didn’t need it. We were greeted boisterously and made to feel quite welcome. Neither of us were drinking, so later I think our server was partly aggravated and partly surprised that neither of us wanted wine or anything other than water. Our waters were kept topped off. I heard one server telling another table how much he enjoyed working there. Our food was quite good, but I found the portions a tiny bit smaller than expected for a traditional Italian restaurant. My Chicken Capri was absolutely delicious(sauce was among the best I’ve ever had) but it was one breast and a side of green beans for $ 17. I think this setting could have served this dish with another breast for this cost or just slightly less $$ for this portion. My date had a bowl of something Carbonara(sorry forget the name), and he said it was good and he left full. The bread was a bit hard and slightly disappointing but not awful… had a good taste. We declined dessert. Overall a pleasant and positive but not amazing experience. I would go back if the opportunity presented itself but it’s not on my top ten list or anything.

This place is a hidden treasure nestled in the corner of a strip mall in Raleigh. Dino, the owner of the restaurant, treats each of his guests as a friend. The food is authentic Italian and made to order, even for those with gluten sensitivity. I ordered the linguini alla vongole. The clams were perfectly prepared and bathed in a light white wine sauce with garlic; they happily substituted the linguini with a gluten-free fusilli for me. I highly recommend this place for an incredible Italian dining experience.

After a miserable experience at another Italian restaurant, we decided to try Capri. All I can say is WOW. A true Italian restaurant. Incredibly friendly, polite, and knowledgeable staff. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Good for a family dinner or a date night.

What a wonderful gem in Raleigh! It’s been years since we dined at Capri. We live in another area of Raleigh and don’t often eat in this area. Looking for a central place to meet family, Capri fit us in on a busy Saturday night. They were particularly accommodating to my father’s needs as he is restricted to a walker due to his chemo. The veal ossobuco paired with the house montepulciano is a great combination! The Tartufo & espresso for dessert is great! Ian and the staff are wonderfully knowledgable & attentive! Dine here the next time you are craving lovingly prepared Italian!

Never go to the Capri alone as you apparently are not important enough to rate Dinos graces. He only appears to suck up to couples or parties. My waiter or the four others who came by the table NEVER even asked if I wanted a glass of water. The meal was less than average, the service didnt deserve the 10% tip. My regular tip is 25%. Overall It was a disaster and quite unworthy of calling themselves an Italian Restaurant. The Olive Garden is a better value. Bob Farrell

First time here and was very impressed. The host was a hoot, the Italian guy who I quickly took to and knew he was legit, he had a lot of fans. The place is really nice and exactly how I like my Italian place, not too over the top. They have a nice wine menu, and all of the servers were very good, fast, and friendly. Our server even gave us a half a bottle of Pellegrino from another table. The bread was great; just Italian bread that was chewy with a crunchy crust. Every dish that went past looked great and had me wishing I ordered each one. The Penne Parmigiana I got was fantastic, with tender pasta, perfect vodka sauce, and fresh veggies. No complaints with anything here, can’t wait to get back!

We had a wonderful grouper dish the other night. It had capers, greek olives and a red sauce. It was probably the best fish dish we have had in ages. We have eaten here before and the food was good but this fish dish was FAB!!!

Well, i dont know which italian restaurant is my favorite now in Raleigh! It was Nina’s but now i think Capri is tied! Capri would stand up to ANY italian restaurant anywhere. I’ve been there twice and have been very pleased both times. And i can be critical of italian food!

This place was excellent. The only reason I went 4 stars instead of 5 was my wife’s entrée(eggplant parm) was good, not great. My veal parm was outstanding. Very tender. Very tasty. The side of spaghetti was awesome. Cooked perfect. Great, friendly service. Reasonable prices. This place is an absolute winner. Would definitely go back.

My experience at Capri was phenomenal. The food is authentic Italian(Italy Italian as another review mentioned), the servers are knowledgable and friendly, and the owners take time to visit each patron during their visit. I look forward to going back again!

It has been a while since I have entered a review, but I felt my experience here merited one. My wife and I usually don’t go out for Italian, or venture into this area, but living social had a deal, and we had a $ 10 off voucher that needed to be used, so $ 30 off for $ 5 sounded like we couldn’t go wrong. Shortly after we arrived I soon found out, we could. Capri is located in a strip mall, which is not an immediate turn off, but it never stands out as impressive either. We were quickly greeted and lead to a table and shortly thereafter our waiter arrived. He seemed award and struggled to remember the specials for the day. He gave us a minute to decide and soon came back. The wife and I both decided on the Seafood ravioli and were told«sorry, we are out of seafood.» After being told this, we wanted another minute to decide… and were sadly disappointed as no other entrée sounded as good to us. After we ordered, we took a look around… the fact that the only patrons seemed to be senior citizens should have clued us in to what we were in for. She ordered the Lasagna and I got the Eggplant Parm special and we both ordered a Caesar salad. After ordering we were brought a basket of room temperature white bread with butter. Joy. The salads arrived shortly later. Now Caesar salads are a pretty simple dish with just a few ingredients, so you pretty much know what you are getting. What we did not expect was to get an overwelming taste of raw garlic. It was so strong it actually had a burning effect. When the entrees arrived we were even less impressed. The Lasagna was basically unseasoned ground beef and sauce layered between sheets of pasta and topped with mozzarella. When it comes to Lasagna, I tend to prefer some sausage or at least some ricotta to be incorporated. The eggplant parm was equally unimpressive. The eggplant had no texture… it was just a soft pile of sauce, cheese and wet eggplant. The pasta was cooked well, but the spaghetti sauce tasted like canned tomatoes. No herbs, no salt, no nothing. Just canned tomatoes. Call me crazy but I like some crusty parts to my eggplant parm. In summation, the food seems to cater to the elderly. There is no flavor to the sauce, meat, vegetables, etc. If you pour on some salt and pepper it becomes bearable, but it is still unimpressive. If I hadn’t saved $ 25 I would have been extremely upset, but even with the $ 25 off I felt ripped off. I have had better Lasagna from Stouffers, and better eggplant from Michael Angelo’s and it costs a fraction of the price.

3 of 5 stars(Average as fine dining, Good as casual dining). (see explanation of ratings below) Technically, this qualifies as «fine dining». No TV, linen napkins, no plastic glassware. But, there’s also no full bar and very little creativity coming out of the kitchen. Still, it’s one of my faves for good, well-prepared Italian food. Love their carpaccio. Half carafe of house wine is a bargain. About my ratings: Only fine dining establishments can garner five stars. Until Unilocal realizes that a fast food joint cannot possibly be ranked equally with a $ 100 per person place, I need to draw the line somewhere. If we were only talking about the quality and presentation of the food, it would be a different story. But, as we know, Unilocal’s rankings take into account the entire dining experience. Therefore, I divide restaurants into three categories(and I wish Unilocal would do the same): 1) fast food and«fast-casual»(no table service) 2) casual and«polished casual» dining(table service) 3) fine dining(linen napkins, no plastic cups, no TV’s in dining room, typically more expensive than casual dining) Fine dining can earn a max of five stars. Casual dining can earn a max of four stars. Fast food can earn a max of three stars.

Living-social prompts me to try new places. Capri is a pretty safe try, albeit a little on the spendy side. So it’s date night and the little yellow car is sidelined because of a seat-belt retraction issue. We go do our thing, hang at Triangle Town Center for a bit, stock up on stuff at BJ’s and hit up the Starbound section at Total Wine(really exciting date night so far…) and then the question comes up — what to do about dinner — I pull up my Groupon and Livingsocial apps and we make our decision from there. Capri comes up as close by and interesting because we’ve never been there. As we come up to the double doors we’re greeted with a sign that welcomes us to come on in. We were greeting by an older(than me) gentleman who really complements the spirit of an Italian restaurant. We chose a table near the back and I asked for a medium bodied red wine recommendation. The gentleman’s choice was pretty good. The service here is pretty darn good — maybe just a little over the top as far as being a bit too eager; maybe because it was a very slow night. Our server was full of both apologies(completely unnecessary) and suggestions. With his help I was able to talk my bride into the veal parm –and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The clams over linguini with red sauce was okay… there were about a dozen clams, roasted from what I could tell, with a light coat of marinara sauce and several pieces of chopped garlic over some almost perfectly cooked linguini. The only places I have locally, to compare Capri to, are Vincents and Cinelli’s. I would hesitate to say Capri is any better or worse than Vincents — each has it’s pros and cons being that they have similar pricing. I would say the clams over linguini(red sauce version) is better at Vincents, but the service is much better at Capri. Both the food and service at either place are hands down better than Cinelli’s. Dessert — the sorbet is a must try… forget the tiramasu, try the sorbet! You won’t regret it. A bottle of wine, two entrees, two salads and two sorbets… $ 95 for two before applying the living-social deal.
