Checkers Pizza & Subs

Pizza is sooooooo good and always fresh! I have many pizzas around Raliegh Checkers is 1 of thee best! I have never received a bad pizza from them!
Best of all it’s a reasonable cost for the quality they put into the pizza!

I have tried this place at least 3 times and will have to say it just doesn’t work for me. The first time we walked in and ordered a small pie. The pizza looked messy I was surprised they gave it to us like that. The person working in the front was not very friendly but I decided to ignore that. The second time I ordered some pizza and it was not messy this time but it did not taste great. The third and final time i ordered a burger with fries and mozzarella cheese sticks with fries. I figure you can’t go wrong with a burger right? Well boy was I wrong! The meat was dry and cut up in the size of a rectangle the bread was not hamburger bread but a small sub type of bread. All I requested on the burger was ketchup they put mustard on it which I do not like at all. The only item that was close to decent was the fries! I would have went back but I ordered delivery and was in a rush. Wont be eating from here again!

I have had many different pizzas from around the triangle and Checkers is by far the best.
I have never had a bad pizza. I will continue enjoying there pizza.

The one word that comes to mind when I think of this place is travesty. I have honestly not had this low quality of food since returning from the Peace Corps in 2007. I was not expecting high quality Italian fare, but what they gave me was just absurd. I don’t know how these people are still in business. I ordered lasagna for myself and a «hamburger» for my son. The lasagna had about 2 pieces of noodles in it and the rest of the tin was filled up with bland tomato sauce and unidentifiable cheese and meat crumbs. My son didn’t even touch his «hamburger» which was a low quality hamburger patty cut in two and thrown on a sub roll with various toppings thrown on top of it. It looked messy and unappetizing. My son took one look at that travesty of a sandwich and said he would only eat the fries (which were soggy). Please save yourself time, money, and calories and go somewhere else. NEVER.AGAIN.

I LOVE this place. I probably eat it a bit too often. The pizza itself is amazing, always cooked perfectly, way better than papa johns or anything else in the area. There also never seems to be a long wait, usually 15 to 20 mins, which is pretty awesome for pizza. The prices are also ridiculously affordable and the staff is super sweet. I honestly have a hard time going anywhere else for pizza. I’ve personally never had one of the sandwiches, but my boyfriend gets them pretty often and and loves them.

Like eating cardboard with pizza toppings. We even ordered double cheese and double pepperoni… and there was literally 2 maybe 3 slices of pepperoni per slice.

Really enjoyed this pizza. I liked the fact that it wasn’t greasy. very nice thank you! I will be back !

Since moving down here from NY several years ago, I couldn’t really find pizza with that authentic italian sauce and dough taste. Instead, I became an avid Papa Johns pizza eater. I first found out about this place from a flyer that was posted on my front door. I ordered the philly cheese steak along with a pizza delivery and it was just okay, but I didn’t care for it too much. A couple of years went by, and I happened to stop by the store and ordered a pepperoni slice. It tasted so much better. Now every time I happen to drive through that area, I will stop to get a slice. The inside is a little drab and could take a little cleaning, but it’s not dirty. I still do feel that Lilly pizza is just a bit better than Checkers, mainly because of their dough, but this place is a great alternative.

This is not a review on their food. The one star is regarding the service. Ordered pizza here one time. Never ordered again and here’s why: We ordered a pizza for delivery. This place was about 10 minutes from our apartment, probably less. After an hour, we called and they said the guy was on his way… We waited 30 more minutes before we just went out for dinner. During dinner my roommate gets a call from the delivery guy (2 hours after our order) who is confused about why we order pizza if we aren’t at home. I usually like helping out the little guy, but Domino’s got all my pizza business after that.

Nope. This place, no. Who ever runs this place gave up caring long ago. Ordered a spicy Italian sub. 2 different lunch meats both equally questionable in flavor and origin. The bread is grade A generic and as plain as white bread. The inside looks dirty, worn, and uncared for. Maybe the pizza is worth a try, eh never mind it will probably suck also.

Love this place, food is always excellent and they deliver at all hours of the night

I ordered the 12″ sub special through grub hub… grubhub periodically offers free delivery but this place (as I found out) doesn’t deliver for free!
I ordered a philly cheesesteak and it came with fries and a drink in the special… to meet the order minimum I added potato wedges.
An hour later the food arrives and the guy has the potato wedges and sub but no drink or fries. Seeing as the only reason I got potato wedges was to meet my order minimum I felt like I should call the place back and ask for my fries and drink. The guy was quickly apologetic and another 30 minutes after my complaint the guy brought fires and a soda.
Unfortunately by then I was full with my delicious philly and my equally delicious potato wedges. I tried a french fry and it really didn’t stack up against their wedges at all.
I can’t really speak for the cleanliness of the place as I have never been there but overall it was a positive eating experience and I would order from them again. As a side note: I love mayo so I requested extra… they take that request very seriously. Next time I won’t ask for extra mayo.

Free delivery, cheap, and not bad. Salad was crispy and my spaghetti was good. Interestingly, the oatmeal raisin cookie was delicious. I do a lot of baking and have pretty high standards. Nice surprise.

The place was very sheek with the nc state pride and the new york side, the foood was amazinnggggggggg, the service was awesomee. the prices cheap, well worth. they are just starting up, so they still have much to do, but overall was very content

Not good at all. Not clean. Although very friendly people, food just doesn’t cut it.

Decent take out or delivery pizza, a bit on the greasy side but not as bad as Gumby’s. They’ve always been prompt with delivery for me, and the prices are probably some of the cheaper in the area.
That being said, the pizza here isn’t going to knock your socks off, and can tend to be extra greasy. I tend to rate almost every local chain over Dominos, Papa John’s, et al., but Checker’s really is. Maybe they don’t have the corporate push to offer insane movie related special pizza prices, but they’ve got more than a couple locations around the Raleigh area, so they’ve gotta be doing something right.
