I came here for the first time and i can’t believe what i recieved. I was definitely over priced for very small portions of food. I will let my pictures speak for themselves.

So two things; idk why I haven’t written a review for them before bc I eat here often and as much as I hate to admit this, I probably never would have stepped foot into community deli if it wasn’t for a former coworker of mine-she would rave about your food all the time! At a glance, it wasn’t very appealing but boy was I wrong! Over the last couple of years I have tried sooo many me u items! The staff has always been wonderful and so has the food. I lllllooovvvveee the fried okra-it is the best I have ever had hands down! Today I had a rueben and it was delish! I called ahead to place my order, but if I have the time, I’ll wander over place my order and just hang out-service is pretty speedy! I’ve also had their blt and burgers-neither disappoint! They make a pretty good breakfast sandwhich and grits too! They are a great local business with reasonable prices! Keep up the great work!!!

After driving by this place for years, I finally decided to stop in and see what all I have been missing. Outside, they had quite a few tables out with nice umbrellas to block the sun. Inside, I was quickly greeted by the ladies behind the counter. Being my first time, one of the ladies recommended the Southern Comfort burger. It’s a ¼lb burger topped with pimento cheese and a little mayo. I also got the fries, which were crinkle cut with seasoning. I loved both if them and together cost about $ 6. Along with lunch, they also sell breakfast all day. I can’t wait to go back to try other things.

The only reason I didn’t give this place five stars was because I’ve only eaten here once, and I didn’t have much… nonetheless, allow me to say this; In my vocabulary, there exists a special rating system specifically designated for food. At the top of that rating system, there exist many sounds, emotions, and words including but not limited to «stupid». When I say that something is stupid good — lemme tell you — it’s good. I was running all over town today, and the rumblin’ in my tummy was dictating the speed at which I arrived to this deli(I apologize to the guy I ran off the road if you’re reading this). I landed my plane illegally somewhere near the front door, went in and was immediately greeted by two of the friendliest folks I’d laid eyes on since I left the road. I had a simple tuna melt on wheat and a side of fries with a V8. It would seem like there wouldn’t be much about a tuna melt to write home about, but lemme tell ya — there is. I ordered mine on wheat, which they toasted perfectly, and I think they sauteed some shallots and threw those in there too — holy crap I couldn’t believe how good it was. They even cut the sandwich on the diagonal(I never ask for that, but I secretly wish it was a federal law) and the fries were seasoned with crack. I ate it in my car with Michael Jackson on and the sunroof open on a beautiful day smilin’ all the way to the court house with a french fry hangin out of my mouth. Made my day. Good stuff. Good eats. Give these people your money — the food is stupid good.

Had the southern comfort burger and onion rings and it might have been the best food I’ve ever had. Will be back with out a doubt

There aren’t enough places like this. The employees are very friendly and the food is great. With daily specials and extended hours, this is my favorite place to grab a quick lunch when I spend my summers in Raleigh. Try the Southern Comfort Burger or the Cajun Chicken Sandwich. If you want something quick and simple, I recommend an egg salad sandwich. They have great breakfast plates. Oh, and let’s not forget Weiner Wednesdays: $ 1 hot dogs every Wednesday, without all the lines you’ll see at Snoopy’s on Tuesday. Community Deli has the best sweet tea I’ve ever had, and I know a thing or two about sweet tea.

1 star for its health code rating. I don’t understand the extra stars given to this place when the food is yucky! My husband ordered the steak and cheese and I had the homemade tuna salad and 2 large drinks NOSIDES, not even a pickle for $ 15 dollars! No not a big portion either. So we took our sandwiches home, my husband opened his steak and cheese sub then said«that’s not a steak! They put a hamburger patty with cheese in a sub roll!!». He took a bite and spit it out then threw it in the trash. That bad! My tuna looked like it has been siting out for a while and it tasted like its been sitting out for a while. Not fresh. We are angry that we spent a lot on crap food. I highly DONOT recommend this place.

The epitome of a mom-and-pop shop, this is a family-run little place with a breakfast and sandwich menu, a few desserts, and coolers of beer and sodas to pair with your take-out. My order was taken by the owners’ son, and grilled up fresh in back. I went with the recommended-on-here BLT and it was solid… a simple sandwich, sure, but the best part was the generous and crispy bacon. You can choose wheat or white. Completely casual(and cheap!) stop if you’re looking for an alternative to Cameron Village.

I almost don’t even want to write this review because this place is a serious hidden gem. I have driven past the little shack a thousand times and today just seemed like the day to finally try it out(TGIF!) Since its literally half a block from the Apartments at Oberlin Court, my boy and I took an afternoon walk to see what this place was all about. This is homegrown food, ya’ll. Perfect casual, southern take-out fare. As soon as you walk in, the people behind the counter are as nice as they could be– the owner and her son were there and you could just feel the heart they put into making the food. The have a huge selection of sandwiches on the menu ranging from BBQ, to pimento cheese to reubens and BLTs. They also listed off about 5 soups, including chicken ‘n dumplings and brunswick stew. Lots of breakfast fare too like omelets, bacon, grits and hashbrowns(served all day!) The boy and I decided to split a steak and cheese sub(the owner’s son told us it was the most popular item on the menu) with sides of fried okra(probably one of my top five favorite foods) and french fries. No judgement – its Friday! The food was a perfectly yummy and indulgent afternoon snack, although the okra was a little greasy. Hours are limited– they’re open from 7am — 7pm Monday through Friday, till 5 on Saturday and they’re closed on Sundays. They also sell bagged ice and sixpacks of various mainstream beers. Perfect local alternative to the surrounding chains and fast food joints. A definite must-try!

Honest-to-goodness sandwiches and«deli» fare make this little place a nice break from the fru-fru of Cameron Village. I ordered a BLT and had absolutely no complaints about it. The family-owned atmosphere makes me feel like my money is staying local, and the ambiance is perfect for a low-key lunch away from the crowds.

This is a small convenience store setup with a small grill at the back located near Cameron Village. They offer a small variety of sandwiches, but the real stars for me are the chili dig and the fries — both are outstanding. Nice, friendly folks here as well. The hot dog is a classic Southern chili dog, with a decent wiener, meaty chili with taste, and a nice, soft bun. The fries are seasoned, are very good, as well. I almost never pass up a chance to grab a dog or 2 here. Couple of notes: Parking is limited, and you may need to park on the street, which folks do. The hours here can be irregular(I’ve found this to be so several times) so you may want to give them a call before heading over.

I just tried this place for the first time. Limited parking but walking distance from cameron village. It was awesome in there! The employees were very friendly and the food was fast. I had the steak and cheese sandwich which was delicious! They have the BEST fries around, seasoned as well! I will definitely go back again!
