COUTURE FOR A CAUSE 2014

Another great year for Activate Good’s Couture for a Cause!
This year’s fashion show featured, like all year’s past, a talented group of designers, but with more ready to wear options I really liked, than in the past. Both shows, the ready to wear and the couture lines were fabulous! The change-​up of the runway was a nice touch, it seemed to give the models more room and ability to show off their outfits than in previous years.
Previous shows have been a bit disorganized upon entry of the event. Thanks to Unilocal I have been able to score VIP tix each year, but it really doesn’t allow for any difference than the standard ticket, often making me wonder why people shell out the extra cash for VIP. This year was a different story… the VIP tix holders had a separate entrance, making the process a bit more speedy. There was also a coat check for VIP– a nice touch when the evening was as cold as it was. VIP also had it’s own lounge with complimentary, super tasty nosh and a wine/​beer cash bar. They didn’t have enough standing tables though, which made enjoying the items, rather practicing a balancing act of holding your plate, clutch, freebie bag, and wine, a little difficult. For future events, there should be more than 2 standing cocktail tables to host 75 or so VIP guests.
We ventured to the silent auction room and found more tables, whew, and servers were walking around with trays of more hors d’oeuvres. There was another cash bar in this room. Lots and lots of options to choose from for the silent auction so we placed some bids and were able to score some goods!
Something that drives me insane are when people actually get up and leave during the auction part of the runway show. It is the rudest ever, and I often feel bad for the models and designers. Perhaps something can be adjusted for next year’s show, maybe have the auction as the runway show is happening?
Otherwise, this year was another great year for Activate Good. Lots of money was raised for various non-​profits while a great night in fashion is to be had by all!
