Dolled Up

After being in Raleigh for a year I am so pleased to have found my official Raleigh hair dresser! Heather has a wonderful eye and I felt confident letting her use her sense of what looks good on me! I have got many compliments on my hair since Heather touched it! I must admit I typically dread getting my hair done, and now I can’t wait!

After moving to Raleigh 3 years ago, I tried 3 popular salons in Raleigh and was always disappointed. I brought in pictures and tried to be really descriptive of how I wanted to my lighten my hair up. My hair somehow always came out darker and looked so choppy. One visit to Heather gave me the color I’d been hoping for and I even had her chop off about 11 inches of hair. She is the only person in Raleigh that I will ever trust with my hair. If she moves to Alaska, I’ll be right behind her!

Heather is amazing!!! Highly recommended. I love my hair (and eyebrows) every time I leave. She is so sweet and does a beautiful job every time!!!

I have been seeing Heather for 5 years and she is the best hair dresser I’ve ever had. When I moved to Raleigh, I went to 3 other hair dressers and was very disappointed with my experiences. Heather was recommended to me by a friend and I’ve been absolutely satisfied since my first appointment. I have since recommended at least 10 friends and they all love her too. From the color, to the cut, to the full experience, Dolled Up is where it is at!

Heather is amazing! I’ve been going to her for years, and even followed her when she left a larger salon to open her own space. She’s an excellent colorist, and stylist.
She always gives great suggestions for color and cut if you’re not sure what you want, but also listens to you if you come in with something specific in mind. Even after years, each appt starts with a consultation, and at this point I trust her enough to sit in the chair and let her work her magic with little to no input from me.
I’ve also had her style my hair for special occasions, and always receive tons of compliments.
Her schedule is really accommodating, and she has an online booking tool with text confirmations and reminders, and her pay process is electronic complete with e-​receipt.

Heather has cut hair for our family for years and is fabulous, talented and fun as well!

Heather is the BEST stylist I have ever been to! She is truly a «hair whisperer» and her instincts on how to do anything to hair — cut, color, style — are unerring. She nails it every single time. I also love that she is so accessible when I need her for last minute appointments!

This is the longest I have been to one stylist and that is saying a lot. In the past, the stylist would decide what they thought would look best on me and try something new– even though I would say no layers or bangs. Before I found Heather I looked like Caroline in Sixteen Candles who got her hair caught in the door (google it, if you must) with the back of my hair being chopped in wonky layers.
God forbid, if Heather leaves this area, I will stalk her like a creepy fangirl to continue her magic on my hair. She is incredible at her craft.
My friends and I were laughing over how we need to stop singing her praises since it is getting harder to get in to see her, but I feel that is not fair– everyone deserves gorgeous hair!

Heather is absolutely amazing. I have unruly, curly hair and rarely can find a stylist that I trust to cut it, without feeling like I have to always straighten or look like a poodle. She does an amazing job at cuts I can wear curly or straight. She has also given me such great advice that my hair has never been healthier.
As far as coloring goes, she’s brilliant. She can decipher seemingly contradictory and very vague instructions into exactly what I’m trying to say. She’s taken me from red, to very blonde, to dark brown, and back to a «lighter brown that’s almost blonde but not really, with some gold in there without being too warm.» I may not be talented at speaking clearly, but she’s amazing at knowing and implementing what I mean.

Moving all the way from San Diego, finding a new stylist is always one of the hardest and scariest things! Heather really took the time to listen to what I wanted and used her own knowledge to give me the best cut! She didn’t pressure me into anything extra and was not rushed at all.
I am not a big fan of the fancy salons where they hustle you in and out like an assembly line while you get stuck waiting in between other clients. I could care less about being served wine with my appointment. And then getting a hard sell on products. I’m there for my hair only and heather made me feel so comfortable.
I will definitely be back to see heather! So happy I found my new stylist :)

I recently starting seeing Heather at the recommendation of my mother who has been going to her for some time. She is simply amazing, and in one visit was able to get my cut and color to exactly what I’ve been trying to get stylists to do at some of the biggest and most popular salons in the area for years! They couldn’t do it but she got it right away. She is quick, precise and one of the best I’ve ever been to. I can’t say enough good things about her! Oh, and the suite she has is amazing. very calm/​relaxing and private.

4 years with Heather cutting my hair. She does a fantastic job every single time without exception. I’ve never stuck with a stylist for 4 years. In all honesty, I don’t think that I’ve ever stuck with a stylist more than 3 months… that should speak volumes.

Heather’s been doing my hair for a few years. I found her accidentally at the trendy N. Raleigh salon when my normal stylist was booked around the holidays and I really just needed a cut and style before visiting the in-​laws. I followed her from the N. Raleigh trendy salon to Dolled Up for a few reasons.
First, Heather knows hair trends. She keeps up with current styles and changes with the times. Second, Heather is grounded in reality. Whenever I came in with a desired haircut, she would give me her honest advice about whether or not my hair type had any hope of matching the picture (based on face-​shape, hair thickness, texture, fullness, etc). She would try to give me the look I was going for, but would adjust the cut as necessary. She always takes into account my lifestyle before she gives me a cut. (This BUSY working mother barely has 15 minutes to spend on my hair every morning — and she understands). Last, but not least, Heather has an awesomely sweet personality. She is very personable to clients of all types. I’m a nerdy software engineer and Heather makes me feel as welcomed as she does to some of my neighbors that I have sent her way, whom are all much more stylish and trendy than I am! :)
I love the Dolled Up salon space, but if Heather decides to move somewhere else, I will follow her because she is great!

I’ve been going to Heather for a little over a year. I’m very particular on who I let cut my hair, and used to drive 3 hours home every time i needed it colored or cut. Since I’ve found Heather I love her more than my old Hair Dresser. Very Knowledgeable in what she is doing, and what styles/​colors look good on different people. I get several compliments from people about my hair, and are always asking who cuts it.
Heather is also very easy going and fun to talk to, she is always making sure that I am comfortable, and listens to what i have to say about my hair, she also gives me tip son how to style it different ways and the different looks i can get.
Heather is a great hair stylist, and i would recommend her to anyone!

As a man who underwent chemotherapy and had his hair grow back curly instead of straight as it was before chemo, I have had a very difficult time finding someone familiar with cutting mens curly hair.
Heather was able to save the day. She suggested a few styles and after we discussed the different options and how I would style them at length, she proceeded to cut my hair brilliantly! Heather has the experience to do wonders with your hair and a personality that puts you at ease. I would suggest anyone looking to switch salons, try a new haircut style or as in my case wake up with totally different hair than you had for 38 years to book an appointment with Dolled Up! Very reasonable prices and she offers you a drink before you even start. How could you go wrong with that?!

I followed Heather from a trendy N Raleigh salon to her own place, Dolled Up. She is wonderful, and almost the only one I’ve let cut my hair for the last 4 years! She really listens to what you want, and I have never left disappointed. I tell her a simple idea of what I want, sometimes with a picture, and she styles my hair perfectly!
She is very personable and easy to talk to. I enjoy chatting with her while getting my hair done and she is so sweet! I would recommend her to anyone looking to change stylists or salons!
