Holloway has gone downhill significantly since the original owner retired. His son, Tyler Holloway, has taken it over as a side business that contracts with day laborers and other random guys. There are no longer company trucks or trained employees. I had used them in the past with no problem, but my family’s latest move was a complete disaster. Below is a list of issues. Holloway moved my family in May 2015 with a myriad of problems. 1. They did not come by our house to estimate the size trucks or number of workers needed. The estimate appointments were canceled twice essentially locking us to Holloway because we lost our slots with other movers. 2. Holloway was 1.5 hours late on the day of the move impacting the closings of both our old and new houses. 3. The movers Holloway used for our move arrived in two U-Haul, but had none of the requested furniture wrap, carpet protection, lifting straps or tie-downs. 4. The movers damaged the walls in both houses and most of the furniture had some level of damage ranging from mild to completely destroyed.(I had, and still have, many days of drywall and furniture repair ahead of me.) 5. Tyler was condescending and essentially useless when speaking to my wife. He continued to quote NC moving laws and the level restitution required by Holloway. He had no interest in accepting responsibility or finding a solution. We finally told Tyler we were not paying his company a single penny due to the damage, stress and additional work required to repair our property. TL;DR Please never use Holloway movers for anything. The company and Tyler are useless. They destroy your stuff and take no responsibility.

Absolutely can’t say enough great things about Holloway. They made our move easy, fast and inexpensive. Some bigger companies wanted to charge us close to $ 900 for the same work, so I can’t thank Ron W. enough for the recommendation! After months of agonizing over having to move at all(it’s the worst), Holloway was the perfect choice. For less than $ 400, they were able to pack up the furniture in our 2-bedroom, 1st floor apartment and get everything into our 2-bedroom, 3rd floor apartment in under 3 hours. Our appointment was easy to make and communication with Holloway was incredibly convenient. The 2 guys showed up when they said they would and made everything a breeze for us. We have a lot of really heavy wood furniture and they were amazing about getting it up the two flights of stairs. Holloway took care of our furniture and both apartments; I haven’t noticed a single scratch on any piece or any wall. Definitely check them out for your next Triangle move.

The communication between the office and the movers(who are all sub-contracted) is non-existent. I hired them and ended up being the fourth man on the team, since they couldn’t get the job done without me. This wasn’t what I was expecting. The move was difficult. Hot and up three flights of stairs. The moving guys complained a lot, but I can’t really blame them. For all the aggravation, this would have been a three-star experience if the following hadn’t happened: The movers accidentally broke some things(a large framed print, a bookcase) that I contacted the company about for reimbursement, per the insurance. They agreed – and sent me the agreement in writing! – to pay me eighty bucks. Nothing huge, but I wasn’t after blood here, just fair recompense. That was August of 2011. It’s June of 2012 and they still haven’t paid me. I’ve called multiple times, spoken to the office manager who assured me it would go out the next day. Now they won’t answer the phone. I don’t even know if they’re still in business or if they just won’t answer my calls. Do not hire these people. They are liars. Update(7÷9÷2012): Last week the check for eighty clams came in the mail. No apology or communication with the office whatsoever, but, hey, I got the money. Bumped it up one star to two, but I still can’t recommend them.

I just did another short move within Raleigh with Holloway. This time, I had a 9am move. The movers showed up early(always good) and were much more careful this time. They only made one small nick in the wall, and let me know about it right away. They were pretty efficient and my move was completed entirely in the morning. The only negative is that they didn’t come prepared with tools to take my bed apart. Since I had dropped by my tools off at my new place(stupid idea) already, I had to get some from a neighbor. Their prices are still some of the best in Raleigh that I can find.

Just finished a small move from Cary to Raleigh but these guys rocked! Scheduling the crew was a breeze, they showed up on time and they handled all my stuff as if it was their own. If I had done the move myself with a U-Haul it would have taken me days. No hassles with picking up a truck, gassing it up and returning it, whew! The days of moves fueled by pizza and beer are over. And do you really want your friends seeing all the junk in your place?! :) With Holloway we were talking 3 hours. And very reasonable pricing, $ 95 transportation fee, $ 95/hour for a two man team(Tim and Norris) and a 24′ truck. Both guys were courteous, hard-working and very cool. So all I can say is if you need to move in the Triangle area, give Holloway a call, I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed. And I’m sure your back will appreciate it!
