Cathy R 6÷20÷15 I was at the K-mart on Six Forks Rd. yesterday with an exchange and a purchase of about $ 140.00 As I stood at the service desk –the store was not busy, and there were about 5 employees all in a circle – having a conversation(not about work I might add) When I asked if someone was working the front desk, there was looks and snickers and finally an older woman came to help me .I got my money back on the top I returned, but the bathing suit which had all the tags still on it evidently was not on that same receipt – I was asked how I paid? We were looking under phone numbers, credit cards, all I really wanted was the exact bathing suit one size up which I had there along with all the other items to purchase. When I asked to speak to the manager low and behold… she so proudly let me know she was it !!! I knew I wasn’t getting anywhere here anytime soon so I finally put the ill fitting bathing suit back in the bag and went to the big«W» store and made my $ 140.00 purchase ! It is not surprising that all the K-Mart stores are going out of business ! Look at the inept people they have working there !!!

I’ve been to this location about 7 times over a year and a half. Six of the seven times it has taken 10 – 15 minutes to make it through checkout even thought there is usually only one person ahead of me. Part of this is due to the speed of the cashier and part is due to the list of questions they are required to ask if you aren’t a rewards member. The selection has been sufficient but very limited. The lighting, ceiling panels, floor, and other décor looks old and worn. The positive has been all cashiers and staff have been fairly profession and attentive to the register. If you are already nearby and have plenty of time to shop it’s worth stopping to look at what deals they have, but if you are making a trip to get something specific consider another retail store or the mall.

It was an experience. Very long lines(only one register open on a Sunday morning. I just had a couple of things and probably waited 10 minutes. Then apparently my items were on sale and I didn’t know it(there were absolutely no signs), she never told me the total and just handed me the e-pen to accept/deny the donation request. I handed her the money, got my change and what I got back I thought was too much(again not knowing the total or the fact they were on sale because she never told me a total). So I said I’m sorry, I think you have me back too much. Her reaction freaked me out because she starting yelling at me… Where is your slip… Where is your slip…(receipt I guess). I told her she didn’t give me a receipt(as I’m searching my bag, the floor around me, etc.) she said well I can’t do anything without a slip! Wow, not the reaction I was expecting when I thought I was doing something good. Eventually she did a price check on the item and determined it was on sale. Problem solved, change was correct, but they just lost a customer.

If you’re a fan of walmart, you’d probably be a fan of Kmart. There isnt much to write about since they’ve been around for ever. lots of clearance items throughout the store, i once bought a pair of bowling shoes for $ 3.59… yes. under $ 4 for a pair of bowling shoes that paid for themselves before I even walked out of the store!

Why is this place still there??? Yesterday I wandered through for the first time in a long time. What a disappointment. Ugly cheap clothes and there prices aren’t even as good as they used to be. I had to bag my own items — the sales girl was too lazy. PRO: 89 cent annuals. CON: Bagging my own items and being ignored by the cashier. Ugh.
