After nearly 5 – 6 years of avoiding this place from a previous not-so-good experience, I gave it a shot with my son. To the point, the quesadilla I ordered for my son was super-greasy with that orange-ish grease that you find in the enchiladas — I also ordered him a side of broccoli that was cooked in the same orange grease, that came out with same-colored hue. At first I thought it was spicy, but turned out it was just… greasy. He loves broccoli, but wouldn’t touch it. He took a bite of his quesadilla, and it was just grease. This kid who eats anything didn’t want it. I ordered the burritos deluxe, which was ok, except it was totally smothered in sauce and grease — however, it did have a huge dollop of sour cream on it, which is rare! It just seems like something has changed to where Mexican food isn’t as good as it used to be. Even the salsa tasted different. The real issue, however, was paying the bill. You see, you don’t get an itemized bill of what you ordered, so you can’t see how much you are actually paying. As she(the owner, I think) is keying in the prices, off of the receipt written in Spanish, that I never saw, the final thing she enters is the broccoli that we ordered(not on the menu), which I was told was a side item. If my math is correct, she ended up charging me approximately $ 4.50 for the side of orange broccoli… BROCCOLI. In perspective, the quesadilla with cheese and chicken was $ 3.99. Nothing worse than leaving a place feeling like you got taken advantage of.

Standard(salty!) Mexican fare. Nothing special, but be sure to stay hydrated. Bar drinks range from«uhm, where’s the alcohol?» to «uhm, can you help me out of the booth!?» Know your item prices before you go up — no prices are on the ticket, and they work the register from memory very very quickly. I’ve known of people who caught a miskeying of a price — and not in their favor. Once the food is dropped off, don’t necessarily expect anyone to come back. Often I’ve had to flag down(or track down) someone to fix an order, refill drinks, or get the ticket. I’ve started saying, «one second» while I check my order and drink level. If you set your expectations low, it’s not a bad place. Just okay. Mostly just convenient.

I’m a New Mexican native, trust me when I say this place has terrible food. My husband and I both ordered a burrito, his was ground beef and mine was steak. The burritos, ordered from the same section on the menu, looked nothing like each other, were different sizes, and had no sides. My husband’s was plain ground beef and mine was steak mixed with rice. No cheese, no veggies, no sour cream, no beans, or avocado. Just rolled up flavorless and over salted sludge. We asked what was in them prior to ordering and the waiter had no clue. He said onions. We assumed he was new and ordered anyway. We ordered our daughter chicken nuggets and fries and I’m convinced they get them from the McDonald’s next door and refry them. She wouldn’t eat it and she loves that kind of junk food. We noticed other people’s food looked semi decent as we walked out. The menu is too huge and difficult to navigate. We won’t be back.

I’ve gone here twice and both times weren’t the greatest. They’re ‘okay’. Nothing special. The prices are a tad higher than the rest of the Mexican restaurants. I only come here for convenience because I go to Harris Teeter often, which is next to it. I ordered a California burrito and they make the plate look big but really, they just loosen up the tortilla wrapper to spread it out to fill up the plate but the filling is not worth $ 10.95! If you order from here, just get the lunch special.

The food and prices at Las Palmas seem to be on opposite trajectories. After years of satisfied patronage here I’ve seen a steady decrease in the food and service quality but the prices seem to increase every time I’m there. The ownership hasn’t changed so I hope this is just a low point for them and there’s a rebound coming. I’ll stop in every now and again just to see how they’re fairing but my expectations will be leveled so I’m not too disappointed.

I am fairly generous with my stars unlike Las Palmas is with good service so to give them 1 star you know it was inexcusable. Long story short I went with a group of coworkers for an early dinner. I’d been before once or twice. Before the meal we requested separate checks. A few people who didn’t have to return to work ordered drinks and those of us who had to go back to work did not. Some people ordered sides like sour cream. When we went through the meal it was subpar food and mediocre service. We had a work event to get to so we asked for our checks. They gave us one long bill and told us to tell them what we ordered at the cash register. Lucky me! I was the last to pay and they tried to charge me for a margarita and a side. I think it was extra rice. I explained I had not had anything to drink nor did I order rice as my meal came with rice already. The girl at the cash register went to get an older woman. I explained to her there was some mix up with the bill and perhaps someone else didn’t pay for their margarita. I stepped outside where my group was waiting and asked if everyone paid for their drinks and rice. Everyone had. I went back inside and explained this. The lady at the cash register very loudly stated I was lying. First off, I work nearby and saw families that I work with. It would be one thing to be accused of lying but an entirely different matter if I’m accused of lying about drinking before work in front of families I work with. I was paying with cash and instead of fight with the rude older woman I just slid more money across the counter and told her to forget about it. This crazy lady flung my money back at me with enough force to send coins flying. I’ll never be back and I tell everyone who mentions this place exactly why.

Well, they did keep our drinks filled. Over cooked aka charded mushy veggies in the fajita. I like to be able to tell if I’m eating a red or green pepper vs an onion and this place over cooks it all. Beans and guac nothing to write home about. San Jose near Walmart on 70 is so much better.

This place is super clean! Don’t expect a very friendly staff, but the food is hot, tasty and it comes out quick. The salsa is lacking, but it’s always a good quickie dinner

When I was a kid growing up in North Raleigh, Las Palmas was my family’s go-to restaurant for Mexican food. As an adult, I now live about 5 minutes away from Las Palmas, so my husband and I will come here occasionally if one of us has a craving for Mexican food and we don’t feel like driving very far. I wouldn’t call this my favorite for American-style Mexican food anymore, but it is still pretty decent for what it is. They have really cheap drinks including $ 1 margaritas every night of the week, which is definitely a good deal. I think it would be a good stop for drinks and apps, I really like their chori-queso and it is very reasonably priced. I haven’t explored too much of their menu as my husband and I generally stick to the combos at this type of Mexican restaurant. I like their chili rellenos and tacos. My husband likes their enchiladas. The complimentary chips and salsa that they bring out before your meal are pretty good, although the salsa is not spicy. The prices on food are also low, and they have quick service here. So overall, 3 stars or «A-Ok» pretty much sums it up — not the best Mexican food, but to fill in a craving in a convenient location, Las Palmas will do.

Quick service, no line, decent chimichangas, coupons available in the mail. We’ve been a few times and it’s your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant(which I enjoy). It’s in the same shopping plaza as Harris Teeter/Goodberrys, so you can grocery shop or get a cold treat afterwards!

This was a great find for lunch. Food was good and the staff was friendly. Great decoration and atmosphere. This was a great place to run too after walking into the China Peace restaurant.

We have been customers of this place since it opened. It certainly has changed over the last couple of years. The owner man is very nice and has always been very welcoming to customers and especially young children. However, I believe the reason this place has gone so downhill is because of the owner wife. She is always looking at everyone like they are going to do something wrong and she REALLY nickels and dimes the customers. The worst has to be the posting of all the coupon exceptions all over the doors of the entrance and then the latest is not getting the card stamped 12 times but now 24 times because you have to have two meals instead of one for a stamp. I really feel bad for her wait staff because they are some of the nicest guys. When she nickels and dimes the customer, they usually take it out on the waiter/waitress. If I were them I would be looking for another job. Also the quality of the food has become very sub-par because I am thinking that she is buying the cheapest stuff around. I feel sorry for the owner man because I think he could really make it work. Lastly, as another reviewer has already mentioned, I wish they would not park that big hummer right out front and take up a prime parking space for paying customers. To end on a good note I still do like the décor.

You live and learn. Food was tasteless and overcooked. the cheese dip literally evaporated in front of us it was boiling so much. I got burned by the grease popping off my entrée. I witness the waitress drinking alcohol and all she wanted to do is play on her phone all night. Terrible food and terrible service. First and last visit.

Great standard Mexican place. I went on a Sunday and they had 20oz Blue Margaritas & Sangria Margaritas for $ 5. Nothing too fancy or groundbreaking, just good Mexican food. If that’s what you’re after, they have it. The service was good, the waiter was fast and friendly w/a good sense of humor. Will definitely go back.

This [place was really good. I went during the peak of lunch hour. The food was good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Draft beer prices are $ 1.25(can’t beat that!). Some of the other reviewers had a bunch of problems, but I didn’t see any of those problems. Their gripes are unfounded from my experience.

First attempt at a Unilocal review, but i was inspired by our visit to Las Palmas. We ate here years ago, It was always great. We decided to try it again but were a little disappointed. We were greeted nicely, and service was par, but when we sat down at the table, immediately we were hit with fruit flies. I killed 8 during our sitting. My girl was getting mad because I am a much better fruit fly killer than her. Final score was 8 – 2. I won. All that aside, food was pretty good. Try the Fajitas Burritos and see if you can beat my score.

Food is below par. Luke warm and salty. Quick service. Service is somewhat snobby compared to a few years ago. Up charged 1.50 for adding tomatoes. Charged for kids drink when it comes with the meal. And they park their customized hummer out front. Taking my business elsewhere.

Ugh… Place is pretty sub standard even for mexican places. The service was fairly decent and the prices are about what you’d expect but the food is bland and tasteless. The two exceptions would be the complimentary salsa and the chili rellano. The salsa was still watered down a bit but a little more spicy than normal. The chili rellano is hard to describe but the meat and cheese they used to top it complimented each other perfectly. Tbh, if I end up back at this place I’ll probably just get a couple of those and call it a meal. Another thing is they messed up a couple of our orders. One order they got completely wrong and the second one they left out some items. By the time they fixed the first order everyone else had finished eating and the person in our party was trying to scarf down their food while we sat and watched. I decided to try their horchata which was probably the worst I’ve ever had. You could tell it was some cheep mix(not even a decent one at that) and not the homemade stuff. For sure not a great or even good spot to eat.

It’s a great place if you’re looking to pig out on delicious food for a good price. They have the usual combinations and offerings of every Mexican restaurant, but they also have some more unique offers. I’ve tried several dishes and have never been disappointed but my favorite by far is the«Pio Pio». its has delicious chilaquilles with stewed chicken and cheese on top, also chicken fajita meat and peppers, a generous portion of rice and beans, plus 2 eggs any style. Their beans are the BEST refried beans I’ve ever had. Their service is okay, hit or miss really depending on who you get. But it’s never been awful. Ignore the older reviews and give it a try for yourself!

Lukewarm food Bland flavors Quick service There’s probably a math equation in the above. Like, with(lukewarm food) +(bland flavors), no wonder this place =(quick service). The place looked run of the mill when I came up to it with my coworkers, but when I walked in I had hope — they were saying it was good food served quickly. I wanted to think maybe it was a hole in the wall«find,» but alas, it was not to be. The quick part came true, and that had partly driven our decision to come here, but man… the food just wasn’t worth it at all. Tons of menu options were really just the same few basics rehashed in various combos. Nothing stood out. Plenty of places do quick food cheaply most anywhere — you don’t need to sacrifice quality and flavor in the process. Recommend you seek other options.

I remember this place being much better. Stopped by tonight hoping for some fresh Mexican fare. The chips were thick and tasted stale. The taco shells were the same. Not much on the combo dinner to say. People who work there are friendly enough but I simply will not be going back. If you want inexpensive, halfway decent Mexican fare, there are better places to go.

I came with a coupon to try Las Palmas. I tried to give it to our waiter in advance of our meal, but he refused it. I left it on the table. We get our food & I do not finish my shrimp dish. So as they come to clear plates I ask for a to-go container. The guy takes my plate, but does not return with my to-go box, only the bill. I’m not paying the bill until I get my to-go box or they will be taking my dish off the bill. We wait a while & they finally produce a to-go box with my meal. Now I’m wondering why it took so long — did they dig it out of the trash? In the meantime, somehow, they get my husband to pay the bill without the coupon that they knew we had. I’m furious by this point & wanted to talk to a manager. They basically left me at the cash register & pointed to a sign that said coupons will not be granted after the bill is paid. I very loudly told them that we would never return. I’ve kept that promise & now seeing the reviews here I’m better off for it. What these people did concerning the coupon(which is intended to bring in new customers) & the sign @ the register lets me know that these people purposely try to diss you!!! Buyer beware of this place.

Although the food is decent(I think San Jose Mexican near Triangle Town is better), I will say that I had a bad experience with food poisoning from them and haven’t gone back since(June 2012). Of course that can happen at any restaurant so that event is not included in the rating. However the fact that the owner wouldn’t even bother calling me after visiting and leaving my name and number there 3 times is included. What that says to me is if you have a problem we won’t tend to it. So you’ve been warned :-)
