Overall an upsetting experience. I wanted to wait a day, but the more I play with my hair cut the more upsetting it becomes. I was assigned the stylist Omar and he kept talking about«texturizing» my hair. I wasn’t sure what he meant until he pulled out the shears that most stylists use to thin out full body areas. He went beyond the full body areas and thinned my entire thickness to half. This styling works best with a flat iron, which i seldom do. I wish he would have asked how I prefer to style my hair. The full body of my hair begins to thin about 5″ from my scalp even though my hair’s length is middle of my back. I now have very thin, feathery hair. Unfortunately he never bothered to ask what I loved about my hair, which was the thickness. Instead he assumed the thickness that he did not prefer was what I disliked as well. It’s my fault for not speaking up sooner, but some stylist carry the attitude of «I know best» and I fear speaking up because no one likes to be told how to do their job. The cut was $ 45 and I really wish I could take it back. I now have to wait a least a year for my hair’s fullness to grown back in. Very upset.

I have really tightly curled/frizzy hair that I like to have the option of straightening. It can be tough to find a stylist who will not shear me like a sheep when I request ‘long layers’ so it can look decent curly or straight. I generally have good luck getting a good haircut at Mitchell’s without blowing my budget. But the 5 star rating goes to Fadi, a stylist at Crabtree Mitchell’s who actually LISTENS to what you want and delivers. He did a great job of ‘styling’ and not just ‘cutting’ my hair, which made it very versatile. And he does a great blowout because he actually cares about getting it truly straight/frizz-free so you can go somewhere when you leave without having to go home and fix it. I love him! Did I mention the excellent scalp massage during the wash?

As a quick update, I had my hair fixed yesterday in Durham at Posh Salon. Their color specialist did an amazing job and I am all better!

Annie is the best! Came into town for a banquet and she made my hair beautiful! My hair is 6 inches past my shoulders, and thick. I walked out looking like a model. If you go to Mitchell’s ask for Annie!

The cut was fine. What made it horrible was apparently they didn’t mention ahead of time that the network was down and they were only accepting cash(which they didn’t mention when my mom checked in, before they sat her down) they don’t have a registrar at the desk they have those scanners on each of their own phone. The girl said well can’t you go to the ATM upstairs its free. I said that I wasn’t going to pay the ATM fees and she rolled her eyes at me like I had the balls to not want to pay extra money to take cash out to pay her. I had to drive down the street to the Bank of America to get cash. I won’t be heading back being that their is another salon in the first floor that only charges 16 dollars for a basic cut compared to the 35 here

First time, great. Second time, sucked. I came here trying to find a decent salon being new to Raleigh. The first time was great. My men’s cut for around $ 30 doesn’t bother me. If it’s a great job, I’m fine paying that and would pay even more if they do a great job. I got that on the first visit. Then I made an appointment with the same girl and she«got sick.» So they put me with someone else and it was nasty. I’m a guy. I get a very very SIMPLE cut. Pretty short. There are stray hairs all over the place. Much longer hair around the crown of my head. It was just not a good cut and I look stupid, and have been told as much. If I can get my same girl again, then I may visit again… but still not sure. I don’t want this to happen again.

I have been going here regularly for about 2 years now. I see comments about the price being expensive, but if you want a cheap haircut go to great clips — don’t go to a salon! I find the prices are very appropriate for a salon. I love my stylist(Stacey). I trust only her to color my hair. She always takes her time when coloring, cutting, and styling my hair. The company uses great products and I always have lasting color that doesn’t fade(8 weeks). I have never had an issue with any of receptionist or any of the other stylist. They have always been very welcoming and nice. I do recommend calling and making an appointment instead of trying to do a walk-in.

I have been a long term client of Mitchell’s at Crabtree. I think I am going on 15 or 20 years now! Perhaps longer. I always go to Amy Hines(manager) She ALWAYS does an amazing job… she has kept me blonde and happy for decades :)

When I first walked in to Mitchell’s, I had some questions regarding their stylists. The front desk staff seemed quite impatient with my questions. I eventually asked to speak with a stylist directly. She was very welcoming and spoke with me, not only at the front desk, but also up at her station until I felt comfortable. Then I got a wonderful wash, cut, and style. My stylist’s name was Melissa and I highly recommend her to anyone. Just skip speaking with the front desk staff… you’ll get better answers from the stylists themselves. I would have rated 5 stars if not for the front desk staff.

Average expereince. The front desk was aloof and the stylist, although nice was young and inexperienced. If it hadn’t been cheap for family day it would be over priced. Still expensive. Advertized as $ 25 but the charge without tip was $ 27. Where did the $ 2 go?

I’m very conflicted in my reviewing of Mitchell’s. I’ve gone here quite a few times this year. It’s so convenient since it’s located on the ground floor in the middle of Crabtree Valley Mall. Very professional both in appearances and how they conduct themselves. They always do a good job and their prices are reasonable, but I’ve never«clicked“with any of the stylists there. Some of them have personality and some of them seem to be like forcing conversation. You’re sitting in their chair for at least 20+ minutes so you’d hope to feel somewhat comfortable. I miss the days of having a stylist I went to and we chatted girl talk and always walked out feeling glam. I’m not one who sees a having my hair done as a necessity. It’s not in my budget and I’d rather spend my money elsewhere — until I get a big raise — so I’m a deal hunter. When I get a better job or a big raise, then I’ll go somewhere really nice, but until then I have to stay on the creative side in how I spend my money. I always make sure to go on Tuesdays too because they have a $ 25 special. Shampoo, Wash, Cut, Style and Blow dry for $ 25 is damn good for a girl’s cut. So after last night’s cut I’m likin’ it, but wishin’ there was more substance to my experience.

I got a great and *cheap* blowout at this salon. I was totally impressed and spent ~$ 20. You can’t beat that price. My stylist was Casey.
