Raleigh Motors

I went to Raleigh Autocare because I needed an oil change, and to get my state inspection done. Our van recently passed 110k miles, and I was also anxious to see if it needed any additional work due to its high mileage.
When I arrived and stated what I needed, they got started very promptly (within 10 minutes of arrival, the car was in the workshop with the hood up). I could observe everything they were doing through big windows from the waiting area/​office– a typical space hosting a checkout desk, semi-​comfy padded leather chairs, a coffee table with today’s paper & some manly magazines (oriented around cars, bass fishing, etc). I will give them extra credit that this area was very clean– not always the case!
Rocky, the guy working on my vehicle, came in to let me know how everything was progressing and to see if I wanted my radiator fluid flushed/​refilled, as he thought it needed. I gave the ok and he stated the price up-​front, $ 84.99. That’s a pretty fair price and I haven’t had it done in 110k miles so. yeah. haha
Less than an hour after my arrival, Rocky came to cash me out, having finished everything I needed. All of my paperwork was neatly laid out on the dash, including a pamphlet about maintaining auto systems (like the a/​c). He was very polite, and I think he did a fabulous job on my vehicle. He even gave me the «Ladies’ Day special», ($ 3 discount on Wednesdays) without me having to ask.
All of this was reasonably priced, and the oil change even came with a complimentary car wash (automated, not hand-​wash).
The only reason I’m docking them one star is because while I was there, a woman came in wanting to have air added to one rear tire. The man she spoke with told her it would be $ 20, but that they would check all four tires’ pressure and refill as necessary, etc. Maybe that seems like a fair price but for less than $ 20 you could buy a tire gauge and do it yourself at a gas station, and I feel that they could have at least told her that, rather than «here’s the price, take it or leave it, no free advice» kind of vibe that it gave me. Shoot, for all I know he was kidding, but I’ll never know for sure because she ended up leaving.
Overall though I was pleased with my service and I will be back here next time my car needs maintenance!

I just needed to know if i needed a new battery or if i needed it charged– I went here because they carry the type of battery I have in my car– But I left pretty quickly because, They were going to charge me $ 63.00 just to do a check on it, NO WORK, just to check if my battery and alternator were good– So knowing that other places would do this for FREE, I said, «No thank you I will take my car some where else.» The manager came out and tried to tell me that it is standard to charge this much and he said, «Well if you take your car somewhere else, you will be taking your car to a car doctor, but we are a car Hospital” — so I said «I’m sorry but I’m going some where else.» So I took my car to another place less than a mile away and not affiliated with this place, the other place checked my Battery and Alternator for FREE, and there was nothing wrong with them, and they cleaned my battery-​and I got to watch them while they checked my car because they have the nice big open windows and you can see what is going on– So please don’t get bamboozled by the «Car Hospital», go anywhere else–

I like ‘em. The owner is a real «car guy» and will chat about all manner of two and four wheeled oddities. His wrenches are good guys, and he’s got a few really crack mechanics that are world-​class, in my opinion. I brought the Mercedes there a few times — once for fairly routine stuff and another time for a rear differential seal. They did good work both times and charged reasonably for it. I have no problem recommending them.
