As you enter Soho, you’ll be greeted first by a resident Schnauzer and then by the Owner. Unless you’re afraid of dogs, both will greet you warmly. There’s an interesting mix of goods here, but more than the usual number of large items — armoires, sofas, framed mirrors, overstuffed chairs, bed frames. All are in good condition. There wasn’t a badly worn or damaged item around although I only had a limited time to really look. There’s a 60s-70s vibe about most of it(with some exceptions), and some things are just plain fun: from the desk lamp whose base looked like an easy-bake oven to a walnut-desk bigger than a bathtub or two and the bedframe head board covered in cut up jeans, pockets and all. Okay, that last thing isn’t fun — it’s quasi-creepy when you realize your bed headboard is decorated with fabric that covered someone’s butt at one time. Sometimes in consignment shops in particular, there’s an extraordinary amount of glasswork — vases, tumblers, and the like — but that didn’t seem to be as evident here. In fact, although there were some pieces scattered throughout the store, the furniture is obviously the draw and you couldn’t help but notice it more for what it is than merely as a stand for glassware. The front window on one side of the door did carry some very pretty vases, though. Soho has some nice furniture, some gorgeous area rugs and tasteful art and everything is reasonably priced. It’s a nice store with a friendly owner and a friendly dog.
