I get my hair straightened and trimmed by Krika when I need to care for my normally natural 4c hair. I go to her not only because she uses top quality products but also because she is not intimidated by hair that when straightened is below my shoulders and when wet is barely 2 inches from my scalp. She does not struggle or brush my hair like she’s raking leaves. My hair comes out soft, shiny, light, and looking very well groomed. Krika creates a very peaceful atmosphere and she is always professional, quick to respond to my calls and does not have me sitting in an overbooked salon! What’s also important to me is that she appreciates all textures of hair… I don’t have to hear talk of good grades of hair or good vs. «bad» texture. That alone is enough to keep me coming back!

Excellent. Excellent products, Excellent service, Krika was sweet and patient. I loved my entire experience and the outcome of my hair. I cant wait to get back and see what else she can do with my hair.

I brought my 13 year old daughter into the salon today. Krika is fantastic! She answered my million and one questions and helped me and my daughter understand the best ways to work with her natural hair. I plan on returning here for whatever hair care needs we have in future. Thanks Krika!

I get my hair straightened twice a year — once in November for my birthday and once in the spring. I really wanted to go to my stylist in SC but I just didn’t have the time. I decided to give Krika a try since I’d gone to her once before to get a braided updo and was happy with her work.
I want to preface my review by saying I’ve gotten my hair straightened several times since going natural in 2008. I’ve exclusively gone to natural hair salons that know how to properly straighten my hair so it’s still very sleek but without any heat damage. Consequently, I’m well aware of what my hair can and should look like once it’s been straightened. I have never had to come home and re-​do a stylist’s work. My hair felt very coarse and rough, and I was quite surprised when she told me she was finished. I asked her if she could smoothen out my ends, which to her credit she went back over, but even after that it still looked and felt very coarse. My ends were rough and it was as if she didn’t even bother to straighten my roots. I also don’t think she used any heat protectant on my hair. I’ve never had heat damage before and I don’t want to start now. After spending four hours there to get my hair colored and straightened and a significant amount of money, I expected to be walking out with a hairstyle that would last, and that I’d be pleased with. Unfortunately, I was left underwhelmed and unimpressed with both the straightening and color job.
Krika seems to be a very nice person and I think she does good work if it’s a natural style. There was a woman there getting twists during my appointment, which looked lovely, and as I mentioned earlier I’ve gone to her before for an updo and was pleased. However, straightening is not her forte. If you’re natural and you want your hair straightened, you would be much better off going somewhere else.

I have been to Sophia Sunflower Salon twice, and am certain to go back again. Today I went and had my ends trimmed and 2 strand twists. I walked in a 2:50pm and was back in my car at 4:00pm. & I didn’t even feel like she rushed through it. She took off ¼ inch of my hair, shampooed, conditioned, etc. She makes her own line of products and uses them on your hair, and it smelled fabulous. Nor do I feel like I was charged an arm and a leg for it. Great service!

I’ve never been to the salon but I’ve been purchasing from the on-​line store for at least 5 yrs now and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the natural hair products. The chemicals I put on my scalp of course absorb into my skin, and then into my body. How I would hate to slather a jar full of unknown, unpronounceable (for me) made from goodness knows where stuff onto my head. The prices are not cheap but I’ll pay for the shipping for a company who actually cares about good quality hair care products.
Also I haven’t ordered a product I didn’t like. My daughter and I love the «Twist-​Out Cream». My only wish is that she had a salon here in Houston.

I have visited Krika’s salon twice and have been very happy with the results. I love that she has early (6 a.m.) appointments and STARTS ON TIME! She is very willing to educate you on your hair and share the styling techniques so you can take care of your hair between visits. The My Honey Child products that she uses are great. She uses them and lets you know what they are without the pushy sales tactic. When you leave, you are well coiffed and well educated. Definitely worth the visit.

Great natural hair salon! Krika is very patient and addressed my needs and expectations. I would highly recommend to others. Service was quick with a calm environment and my hair looked and felt great!!!
