I never thought I’d be a fan of acupuncture. I’ve heard friends and family talk about it over the years and always balked at it responding with, «I think I’ll just stick with massage therapy, thank you.» Then, I noticed a brochure and business card for Tri-Point Acupuncture at my yoga studio. Considering I was trying to work on improving my health as a whole, this seemed like something to really consider. There was a new patient special and I had nothing to lose. So I called and left a message. Heather Bree, the main Licensed Acupuncturist, called me back that evening and gave me a description of how it works. She was very reassuring and described them as feather needles that target areas of concern. It is Chinese Medicine, but is very conscious of Western Medicine concerns. She also mentioned how people often leave feeling like they’re in an acu-coma because it relaxes them so much. At that time, last fall, I was more interested in relief for back pain and stress relief from work and just life chaos. I went in for two visits and found it to be surprisingly relaxing. The only thing that distressed me was after she places all the needles, she leaves the room to let you lay there for about 20 minutes. Meditation? Nothing to read? No one to talk to? What could I do? Relax and focus on self. So, I did. Recently, I have resumed care with Heather. Mainly for treatment due to an accident. Her care is also good for mindfulness and relaxation too though. She is compassionate, kind, thorough, and follows up after most appointments to see how it went, any soreness, any improvements, body reactions, etc. Very easygoing, mellow, but definitely attune to the areas she is treating. When I tell people, I’ve become a fan of acupuncture, usually their response is, «Oh, I could never do that. I don’t like needles!» I’m pretty sure that the only people who are fans of needles are heroin addicts so that’s the least of my concerns. It works though. The acupuncture care at Tri-Point is located in downtown Raleigh and is focused on those looking to repair, restore, and revive their health. And accident or no accident, I think anyone could be interested in improving themselves in that way. It has improved my vitality, rejuvenated my focus on health, and seems to generally improve my life. Don’t knock it til you try it and if you’re looking for ways to recommend your health, I highly recommend giving Tri-Point Acupuncture a try. Tell Heather I sent you. She’ll appreciate it.
