What a great experience for my son! We saw the boats gliding across the lake when he was in 6th grade. He tried sneak peak week half way through the 7th and was hooked on the spot. He did not cross over from swimming or use this as off-season training from soccer or another sport. However these are both good ways to start, my child simply loved the peacefulness of the boat on the water after a long school day. He used to come home from school tired, bored, disinterested. After starting rowing with TRC he came home after school and practice and was excited, energized, motivated and interested in talking about his day. What a gift ! He has found friends, leadership, teamwork, fitness not to mention strength like never before. He was never so pumped when he rowed in the snow on lake wheeler. Who gets to do THAT?! I was worried about the travel and the time commitment but it seems this was the best investment we made for our boy as he is motivated to stay organized and work hard for his team and pursue excellence in many areas of his life. He is now a senior in high school still rowing strong with direction and commitment that I believe was cultivated in this warm, accepting, competitive environment. Come try it… lta

We tried many sports prior to rowing. However, he never felt«connected» to the sport and team. He wanted to play a sport that was challenging but yet focused more on teamwork vs. competitiveness. We tried TRC during the Sneak Peek Week and after the first day, my son was very excited about the sport and the people on the team. He felt«connected» to them and wanted to excel in the sport. As the season passed, his passion for the sport grew. He felt the challenge to be the best that he could be. Yet, taking his«best» and working as a team to excel together. During the year, I have seen him grow. He is more focused, not only in rowing but also in school. He is more confident. He’s grown in his leadership skills and has more«drive» for excellence than before. He loves his teammates and his level of respect for his coaches are amazing. Personally, I could not ask for more. Thru TRC, my son has found his drive. He has matured to be a true team player and has learned the importance of respect — respect for his teammates, superior and for himself. The coaches are fantastic — so caring, encouraging and true leaders. They are great role models. The parents are wonderful. Each one so dedicated to their children and team. Traveling together really unites the team and the parents. It is like a family all pulling together for the excellence of our children.

Both my boys, 12 and 15 have enjoyed joining this rowing team. They were tired of soccer and lacrosse and last year by word of mouth, we were invited to go to a «sneak Peek week» where you can go and see what it is all about with no commitment. By the second and third day, they were totally on board with joining. They really enjoy the«team» and individual aspects of this sport. Best of all, the regattas are so much fun. All this kids on the team were all so nice towards my boys and excepting of their novice status. The varsity are always helping the new rowers and teaching them all aspects of this sport. I am just so happy to get them outside, exercising and away from the veg time in front of the computers and TV’s!!!The time commitment and travel to the lake 5 out 7 days is still worth it!!!

My daughter tried every sport out there, none of which were a good fit. She started rowing with the summer camp TRC offers and fell in love. The team camaraderie, great coaches and physical challenges both personal and as a team member are a great fit! Excellent experience.

Excellent alternative to middle school and high school sponsored sports. A good combination of dry land and on-the-water training, as well as regional travel.
