Tryon V

I lived at Tryon Village for a year and a half from December 2013 to April 2015. Upon moving in, the apartments were definitely not as nice as the pictures. Unfortunately I moved in from out of state so I wasn’t able to see them prior to moving in. The counter tops were painted, cabinets were very dated, cheap carpet, fixtures were old and dated. The apartment itself was in rough shape, the walls were in poor shape (patchwork was visible, as well as, drywall seams) and the apartment must not be on solid foundation because there were cracks throughout the ceilings and walls and the doors wouldn’t close properly due to the shifting. The back door had a huge gap underneath due to the shifting which caused a lot of bugs to get in and the maintenance man just put a bunch of stick-​on foam around it which looked terrible and fell off. There was actually holes to underneath the apartment and outside the apartment so mice could come in. The maintenance staff did not know what they were doing in the least bit. They did rig jobs on everything they attempted to fix. During emergencies they refused to come fix anything. No rock salt was put down even though I requested it three different times. The maintenance staff would just walk into the apartments without prior approval. One time I was sleeping and heard them come in after knocking and just use their key without me ever have setting up for them to come. Every time I had an issue I called Laura, the apartment manager and I usually got defensive answers instead of helpful ones. The tenants the choose to live there are mostly lower class families that are loud, ignorant, and obnoxious. A older intoxicated gentleman yelled at me so bad I called the police and when I reported it to Laura, I was told I could move out if I felt unsafe, which is exactly what I did. The rules are no enforced at all so that can be beneficial but it can also be frustrating. I found it to be unsafe and an unacceptable environment. Overall I would not recommend living there unless you don’t mind living near sketchy people. Just keep you doors locked at all times. Someone stole property left outside our door and also tried to break in the doorknob and screen.
