Valvoline Instant Oil Change

I noticed a burning smell coming from my car when the heat was on and my oil was a little low so I dropped by the Valvoline Instant Oil Change for a checkup. They checked the oil and looked for leaks & determined a quart of oil was all I needed. $ 6 and some change and I was on my way. It’s always nice when mechanics don’t try to up sell women, hence my 5 star review!

I would avoid this place for now. After they rotated the tires, they improperly replaced my hub cap. The hub cap came off and is missing. When I went to report it to them and ask for help in getting a new cap, they flat refused. No discussion.
I’ve had this same thing happen to me at Jiffy Lube and they offered to replace the cap with no discussion. Totally different experience. I get that mistakes occur, but the unwillingness to help earns them a 1 star rating.

This review is based more on what I was told I needed repaired on my car rather than just the oil changes. My 1^st oil change with them was November 2014; no problem. I got a special for $ 21.99 or a similar price. When I took my car back in April 2015 they suggested the more expensive oil change, but I was told it was only $ 10.00 more.
When I picked my car up, my bill was $ 57.00. My math skills may not be the best, but I’m almost positive that $ 21.99 and $ 10 don’t add up to $ 57.00. I didn’t complain, but decided right then and there they wouldn’t be changing my oil again. Truthfully, convenience was the main reason I chose them.
My main complaint is the list of problems they said my car had/​has. I knew I had some sort of water/​overheating problem. So when they said it was my radiator, I really had no reason to doubt them. After pricing the radiator itself, and the two other things they claimed the car needed, I found a mechanic willing to do the work as a side job. Having already ordered the radiator AND the serpentine belt they actually wrote down I needed, imagine my surprise to find that I did NOT need a radiator or a serpentine belt… no, it was my water pump!
They also said I needed a transmission flush, but the one other thing I needed (front brakes) they didn’t even mention. (I actually knew I needed those.)
So, instead of telling me what was really wrong, they told me 3 things I didn’t need, made sure I knew they could do the work, all the while doing THOSE jobs wouldn’t have fixed the problem and would have left me stranded!
If you, like me, find yourself using them for an oil change, an inspection, take EVERY thing they tell you with a grain of salt. BTW, I asked them to change a bulb… a bulb mind you, when they changed my oil and they didn’t know how to do that. Yet they think I’d let them into the cooling system of my car? Yeah, right.
They are friendly, but honestly, I want my car fixed, not my butt kissed!

They make you get out of the car now which makes it feel like every other oil change place– I miss the comfort of staying in my vehicle. Two staff members were half paying attention and watching videos of, apparently, a man walking into Walmart with a gun. The sign on the lot states that it will take 15 minutes or less. The whole ordeal took 45, and the oil change 30. The staff was generally friendly they just apparently didn’t want to be there. Before leaving they up-​sell you a host of services. This location is under new management, but clearly nothing has changed
