Wake Technical Community College

Not sure about the education you will receive, but definitely don’t take the driving course they offer.
We are on our way out of town and nearly got ran off the road by the driver of one of their buses!
This idiot was flying up on our bumper, forcing us to go 50 in a 35 mph zone, in the pouring rain, while flashing his brights on us.
The «Speed Limit» is just that, the «Limit», meaning you should not go above, not you should at least be going this fast! Also you are to drive appropriately for the weather conditions so going slower in the rain is best especially when the roads are slick.
When we merged onto the interstate he had a whole lane to himself to go in if he wanted to pass, but instead he chose to ride up on our bumper several more times before finally flying passed us at 65 mph.
We have our 3 small children in the car (one of which is a few months old) so excuse us for trying to drive safely and make it to our destination alive!

I just got off the phone with a rude, out of breath woman after being on hold for 15 – 20 minutes twice. I just had a question and wanted to update my mailing address, but unfortunately lack energy involving the admissions office made it impossible.
While on hold I was transferred 3 – 4 times until I finally was connected with someone without a personality. To top it all off this person did not offer a phone number to help me.

Worst school I have ever been to in my life. I would give 0 stars if it was an option. They barely offer any classes over the summer and since I transferred from another school I get stuck with a late registration date (i.e. When all the new students get to register because I have only done one semester at WTCC, I register with the people who have 12 credit hours even though I am graduating this summer) if I even get to graduate, since all the classes I need will be filled by the time my registration date rolls around. All the advisors are so wishy washy you will get different advice on classes you «need» from everyone you talk to. One of the advisors thought I was in a different degree program and advised me to take a class I didn’t even need which I ended up doing terrible in and ruined my GPA (all for something she overlooked and thought I needed). Oh, not to mention they let those extreme pro-​lifers set up ridiculously graphic pictures of aborted fetuses right in front of the library on North Campus for you to be forced to look at when you walk in. Don’t worry, they were just there to «provide information», not to cause a scene or anything. Terrible school. Do yourself a favor and just go to a university where you will actually get QUALITY education and have a faculty who cares about students.

I have attended wake tech for a few semesters now. It is becoming more diverse in students and classes, and its many campuses are expanding rapidly due to new students enrolling in school everyday. Classes are decent sized and i haven’t met a professor that i didn’t like.
I have read other reviews which stated that there are bad teachers here that caused them to fail, and that is not the case. I will admit, i have had «bad» teacher but i passed the class with a B. its not about the teacher’s its about how much effort you put into getting a good grade in class and doing work. they offer multiple study groups and help with different classes. all you have to do is show up. its that easy. you dont have to take my word for it, enroll & see for yourself!

I am in their culinary program and have enjoyed it so far.
The faculty work hard and care about their students. The facilities and supplies are pretty good — bring your own knifes and scale, as expected. They are hardcore about their uniform requirements, so just expect those extra costs. I have found the quality and quantity of the education to be a good value, as well as an enjoyable experience to boot!
I also have had good experiences dealing with the admin. staff and found it much easier to get things done here than at NCSU.
I have been happy and satisfied with my decision to take classes here and am looking forward to taking more classes in the future.
The biggest drawbacks are the location and unless you are there early, the parking can be a pain. I have not had to deal with the bookstore but some of my classmates had problems getting their supplies in time.

I would say one thing. This is a decent school to attend at a dirt cheap price. This is the main campus of Wake Tech, and the oldest. You can always tell by the bathrooms, lack of windows in the classrooms and outdated equipment. But they are upgrading the equipment. The first time I went to Wake Tech was waaay back in 95 or so. The campus has grown, they got rid of the cafeteria that cooked and served real food and put in a Subway that over charges. They classes are great. Many students from NC State, UNC, NC A&T all come here and take classes, even durign the regular school year.
Even if you are not looking for an AS, they have many programs to interest people ranging from your GED, auto shop, police officer, to becoming a master chef.
So, give Wake Tech a try. You have nothing to loose, but everything to gain.

Well, I spent a couple of years (spaced out over the course of a couple more) taking classes here and I have to say I had a very positive experience all in all. One thing that brings a lot of students here is the classes are affordable, and there are plenty of options to fit schedules. Most of the time when I attended classes here I was working full time, with very flexible hours but it was surprisingly hassle free to get the classes I needed in slots that wouldn’t cause my boss to start looking for new help.
If you’re taking classes with the goal of transferring to a four year university, every class you take towards your degree at Wake Tech transfers to the other state-​run universities (i.e. not Duke, Campbell etc). I also had some of the best teachers I ever had here: one that sticks out in my mind in particular is a history teacher who was very well informed and easy to learn from, and seemingly the kind of guy you’d like to go grab a beer with.
The most negative part of my Wake Tech experience was the parking, but if you attend classes for a bit you’ll find there’s a slim window of opportunity if you plan your arrival as classes are just letting out but most of the other students haven’t arrived yet. It’s something of an art, but it is certainly easier than circling the parking lot for hours searching for a spot.
If you’re a continuing student, or just someone who wants to pick up a new skill for not much money, I would definitely recommend Wake Tech.
