I’m not the biggest fan of Bluegrass in the world but what the hell, it’s music. I figure with about 8 chords, a little banjo pickin and a fiddle after about an hour you’ve heard it all. I do like the fact that the fans take their Bluegrass seriously and everyone seemed to be in a great mood, even Raleigh’s Finest who did seem to go out of their way to be civil to everyone. Saturday was just a slice of heaven. Good crowds, lots of laughter, music from all directions. A few more reasonably price Food/Bev vendors would have been nice but I believe a good time was had by all. It ain’t Woodstock but it ain’t bad !

Wide Open Bluegrass was fantastic! Such a good time! We didn’t attend any ticketed events, only the street festival on Friday night and Saturday night. The vibe was amazing and music was incredible. I will ABSOLUTELY be back year after year. Hopefully Raleigh can continue this contract for the indefinite future! My only complaint? Where were the local food vendors?!? They had«fair food» up and down the streets. And not local fair food, the kind that wheel across the country following state and county fairs. With all the amazing food trucks and other local vendors it was really disappointing that these other vendors were allowed and their wasn’t a food truck in sight. Raleigh could at least set up a parking lot off the main drag to support the local vendors. They could have killed it! You absolutely MUST check out Wide Open Bluegrass next year! It will not disappoint!
